Apologies to all in advance. I posted the response below in another thread, but I'm posting it here again, as I should have done this initially as a separate thread. I'm no cricket expert by any means but after today's abysmal performance, I've never ever felt so angry and just wanted to share my thoughts and feelings here.
It's time for Captain Calamity to step down if he has any humility at all, but I guess he won't. His batting is poor, his field placings are atrocious. his running between the wickets is schoolboy level and his ability to raise the team's morale is non-existent.
Our tried and tested failures of Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal should not be allowed anywhere near a cricket pitch. Fakhar Zaman needs to start turning up at matches. Give him a couple of more games and then show him the door. Babar Azam should never have been opening the batting in the last two games as I believe it just added unnecessary pressure on him.
Shadab Khan is clearly having a crisis of confidence. He should be given a break for a few games. Our bowlers needs to lose the short and wide bowling mentality. They need to start thinking outside of the box. This brain dead mentality of bowling the same garbage over and over again is costing us matches. If we're getting hit for boundaries, let's bowl around the wicket, let's bowl some slower balls, let's disrupt the batsman's rhythm by pulling up short. We should be trying something different.
Our batsmen have no feet movement and they can barely hit the ball. Are they wearing concrete boots? Their schoolboy slog the ball and hope for the best mentality is costing us games that we should be winning. If we can't rotate the strike, then it's time to find players who can. This is the worst team I have seen in years and we look nowhere near professional level.
It's time to start kicking the dead wood out of the team, easier said than done I know. Fine the batsmen who throw away their wickets or cause run outs. Misbah and co, you need to stop living in the past and you really need to stop with the sifarishi attitude. It's time to give up this third world country mentality of the selfish arrogance and nepotism that we so proudly display. It's time to show some humility.
No one player (past or present) is bigger than the team. It's time to stand up to corrupt attitudes and it's time for these players, managers and the whole cricket board to start pledging allegiance to our flag and all that it stands for. Anyone who is in this for themselves and not for the team, should be kicked out. It's time to start playing for our country and national pride before we become the laughing stock of the cricketing world.
In over 40 years of watching cricket, I have never felt as angry as I have today. I will always support team Pakistan, because even though I was born in Pakistan, I have never lived there, but it is and always will be my home.
