What's new

Caption This : What's Mohammad Amir saying to Alastair Cook?

Yes Amir has a little belly fat. He needs to bulk up and hit the gym. Him and Babar look malnourished. But some posters here went hiding like the cowards they are and when the opportunity presented itself, jumped on to attack a guy like a vulture who literally won a CT Final for them.

Mohammad Aamir needs to put on some muscle. If he does, he can hit 145-150kph regularly. I really hope this County stint helps him get his natural swing back. We've seen an improvement over the past year, but still most of his movement is off the seam/bounce, not in the air.

My Pleasure. He has done well to maintain his fitness during 5 years ban.

Amir's conditioning is not a problem at all. He's a natural when it comes to that. Unbelievable amount of ignorant comments in this thread from people who don't understand the different type of physiques and how certain body shapes can be misleading if looked at from a certain angle.

Like Amir was taken apart by Rostom Chase in the first ODI against the West Indies, however Amir retained his place while Wahab lost it to Junaid...

Amir might've bowled the best in the final but he has also been afforded the most chances to make a name for himself..

When and where did this happen? Roston Chase had his debut after that series and still he was taking apart Amir, I guess he was doing that from the bench.

Now coming to your next false point, look closely next time and then tell who was taken apart. Hasan Ali was the most expensive bowler in that match going at 8.6 and took 0 wickets, but he shouldn't be dropped. Next was Wahab Riaz who was going at around 7.6 and took 1 wicket, but he too shouldn't be dropped. Only the bowler whose name is Amir should be dropped regardless of the fact that he was the best among them both in economy and wickets, going at 6.5 and taking 2 wickets, because a player not playing was taking him apart in a imaginary world.

Nice job.

That's the thing with blind critic. It leads to one twisting facts and events to suit the agenda. Upon a closer look it all turns out to be hot air.

Guys it is real, Amirphobia is real. Symptoms include an uncontrollable urge to criticize where no critic is due and in the process twisting facts and figures which ultimately leads to you living in an alternative reality.

Consult your doctor or other medical professional immediately if you think you or your loved ones show signs of Amirphobia.

My bad Jason Mohammed, I had that confused with Rostom Chase's last innings vs Pakistan in the 3rd Test Match

Yes, forget the economy, Amir's last 2 overs went for 30 runs... including an over of 17 runs...

In those crucial last overs it proved to be match losing, regardless of what happened at the other end.. the savior didn't perform well and he was lucky he didn't face majority of the onslaught as he still had one over left

So if Amir was the champion he was made out to be he would've won us that match, but he was cartered around in the match all over the boundary, now his fans say he is overbowled but then he should've sit out after a p*** poor performance in the first match Arsalan Pro

Infact he was the reason we lost at the death overs, his last 2 overs yielded more runs than Wahab Riaz, Hasan wasn't bowled in this game after his 5 overs, whereas Wahab and Amir were tried, but Amir ended up bowling more poorly than Wahab costing us the match

He definitely needs to improve his body fat ratio , the protruding belly will halt him from playing the three formats.

Lets not judge the guy based on one bad game. Hopefully the county stint will do him a world of good and he will come back an improved bowler for Pakistan.

The point we made was on Amir's fitness, and his fans drag the conversation from him bowling better than anyone else in the tournament to him batting better than Sarf was Srilanka... which are complete lies.

Nobody hates Amir here, its his fans that are the most irritable part about him

Amir's belly is a better bowler than any of the petty critics commenting here. He's an actual athlete and most of you don't even lift so I'd leave the worrying over his physique to Amir himself and the many coaches that are paid to worry about it.

As for the topic he's probably saying "Remember when I almost ended your career? Yeah, it's been seven years."

Amir has shown signs that he is a player who can deliver in big games. He does seem to take pressure quite well. In the game against SL, he batted quite confidently and was scoring runs freely without giving any chances to the opposition.

Although he did not take a lot of wickets in the CT17, he was quite economical and delivered in the big game where it counted.

Based on that Amir should be dropped from not only test but ODI? - We have spotted an Einstein here :srt:

Hasan Ali should have been dropped too after India's match, his last 2/3 over went for plenty, that has happened couple of times in last 6-8 months. Is that just applicable to Amir only? ;-)

What is your beef with Amir, I am not getting it? - Are you M Wasim Or Sakindar Bakth by any chance? :))

He is a senseless hater.

Amir deserves criticism as he is not upto expected level of his potential, But a positive criticism is needed and not this rubbish.

Yes I feel he is too overrated, when was the last time Amir picked up a 5'fer in ODIs?

Hasan picked up two in the span of 2 months... so he is much better than flab in my opinion

When was the last time Amir picked up a 4'fer? 8 years ago in Srilanka..

Hasan had one in his debut series...

So yea please look at the wickets column too, before deciding who is a passenger in the side and who is the real deal :))

M Amir has a 4'fer against NZ in his first series after return.

He bowled and over before that too, where he gave 5 runs and took 1 crucial wicket, but that doesn't count as he was not taken apart. Hasan Ali bowled only 5 overs and Wahab Riaz 9 overs(same as Amir), but they weren't saved from onslaught as there names weren't 'Amir'. The saviour was the best pacer for Pakistan but he is the only one to be blamed and the bowling from other end doesn't count. Only the last overs count and not the early ones, as a bowler name 'Amir' bowled best among all in the start and bowled bad like all others in the end.

Amir isn't a passenger,he has picked up the second most wickets for Pakistan since Hasan debuted,he has a good economy too.He is one of the best bowlers in Pakistan, and deserves to be in the team.
Positive criticism is needed, not this senseless bashing.

He was given rest from the T20s and it was his first match of the series, so no way he needed any rest. The worst bowlers of that match Hasan and Wahab were playing T20 series and should have rightly been the ones to be rested or dropped, not Amir.

Such nonsense, why are you over and over again stating lies and blaming Amir. Why are you presenting only Amir's last 2 overs figures? Now look again at match, Amir conceded 34 of his last 3 while taking a wicket, going at 11. Hasan bowled rubbish throughout the match and conceded 24 of his last 2, at 12 per over with no wickets, with one going for 15.Wahab went for 37 runs in his last 3 with no wickets, going at over 12 per over. Even the death bowling figures present Amir as the best bowler among them, but only he will be criticized ad he is 'Amir'. Hasan and Wahab Riaz were poor throughout the match than Amir and were the real reason of losing the match, but they won't be blamed by Waleed as they are not 'Amir'.

Yes remind me the last time Amir won a match single handedly with his bowling? (like at least taking half the wickets) Even the CT final he picked up three wickets, but the rest of the damage was done by other bowlers... statistically its not a 5'fer or even a 4'fer.. which is not man of the match worthy

apparently he wasn't even fit enough to bowl a second spell

Ask any Indian whether Amir's spell was match-winning or not.

Rohit, Dhawan and Kohli were by far the best batsmen for India in the CT. First with our previous conversation regarding Dilshan and now this, you seem to ignore the impact.

Say he got Jadhav, Ashwin, Jadeja, Kumar and Bumrah out. That's five wickets. Would you call that match-winning?

Wasim Akram took three wickets in the 92 final but people still talk about his spell. Cricket is not always about statistics. Impact is extremely important.

When batsmen are under pressure, they get out... top 3 were vital wickets but the other 7 aren't easy pickings either, there is areason INdia is the World no.1 team right now...

The reason batsmen were under pressure since the economy jumped to 7 an over and it was difficult if you didn't start from ball 1... the batsmen got under pressure as a result of that pressure and playing in the final.

Don't think we would get dismissals like that if there were only 250 to chase... as you saw in the semis

Pakistan had outbatted India in the final, which is saying something which hasn't been done before

There is a reason why a 320+ score hasn't been chased in an ODI tournament final (I maybe wrong), and its considered a match winning total if you manage to get those..

It was the highest total of the tournament, that sort of pressure can be insurmountable..

More than Amir's deliveries, it was the pressure that got to the batsmen

Wasim's wickets are considered crucial, but it wasn't only him, Mushi picked up 3 very important wickets, while Aqid picked two including Neil Fairbrother...

Wasim only got MOM because of the manner he dismissed the batsmen, as well his 30 odd in the death overs which added crucial runs to the total

So pressure made Rohit fall LBW to an inswinger which he missed while trying to drop the ball to the leg-side, not the swing; pressure made Kohli defensively nick the ball the first time (which Azhar dropped), pressure made Amir get extra bounce which Dhawan tried to defend and was caught behind. :)

Whose spell is talked about to this day as being the leading factor for the win?

Yes it was pressure, Sharma has always struggled against swing, but Dhawan and Kohli got out because of the pressure...

Dhawan's short arm jab was for a single, similar shots he played against Amir in previous overs, watch the highlights...

While Kohli's flick was a scoring shot which induced an edge.. both shots were due to pressure of not scoring runs

Don't think Pakistan could've won the final without contributions all round... Alec Stewart and Neil Fairbrother are big names of cricket which Aqib got... Graham Gooch was the captain that Mushtaq removed as well as Graeme Hick..

Wasim also got Lamb and Botham, but chris lewis is an allrounder...

So as far as big names go, each of them got 2

Dhawan got out because of extra bounce. Kohli's flick was a scoring shot, but the previous ball which induced an edge wasn't. Amir had him on the back-foot.

Both Junaid and Amir kept it tight, which is why Dravid also credited Junaid for bowling from the other end... the pressure induced the wickets while batsmen went for their shots..

There was nothing in the pitch otherwise, this was been discussed plenty of times, a score of 250 would never had induced those mistakes

He picked up the first 3 wickets, the most important ones. The wickets of the gun batsmen,Sharma who had just hit a hundred in the SF,Kohli who is an ATG(probably GOAT)ODI chaser(twice too),and Dhawan the leading runscorer of the CT.

He killed the Indian chase before it even began.Like it or not, this spell will be remembered for ages.It doesn't matter if it was a 4'fer or a 5'fer,at the end of the day, that is just another damn statistic. And Amir wasn't even the MotM,that was Fakhar.

Who told you he was unfit?

Imad Wasim said Amir was on chance to play the final, the physio would tell us if he is ready at 7 am... it was almost Rumman who would playthe final who said he was ready it that happened (TV Interview on Eid)

And yet Amir got the ball to swing into Rohit, nip away from Kohli and generated extra bounce for Dhawan's dismissal.

So what does that tell you about Amir? :(

Like I said, the pressure of the run chase helped the bowler pick wickets who normally likes to bowl economically.. namely 2 wickets in 3 games he played

Absolutely brilliant logic by Waleed!!!!

The pressure of runs can make Amir bowl inswing but no other bowler than him, pressure of runs can make Amir bowl outswing but no other bowler than him, pressure of runs can make Amir get get number one batsman in the world Kohli out twice in two balls, which no other bowler can.

Maybe he's wearing the chest guard under his shirt ??? Could be.....

Focus bro.

He is wearing Jeans. No player will or can do batting even in nets when he is in jeans. No Chest Guard there.

This is.an issue with us Punjabis, hence we have more tendency to have protruding bellies (love handle)

Remedy ?

A. Diet Consciousness

B. Train harder than others

Babar Azam, Imad Wasim & Amir need to work harder wrt their diet & training.

Not a huge issue but He needs to get rid of his love hadle fat. Better fitness will help him and teams he ll play for.

He needs to work on his fitness.so that he can bowl faster. Whenever he runs in hard he looks a different bowler.

They won...
LOL true but instead of giving credit to M Amir for his brilliant bowling you are saying that India lost there wickets under pressure so I'm just saying that there was no pressure on India in Asia cup yet M Amir got wickets in similar manner.

It's not fat, just body shape. He can't get rid of it. Amir's very well conditioned. What he isn't conditioned for is keep his pace at 145-150 consistently due to technical and mobility issues. Luden or whoever has been working with him hasn't targeted the right areas.

Yes, pressure was an added factor in both games... but in the first game Kohli handled it since it was a chase of 80 runs, and he succumbed here since the game was slipping out of their hands every second...

However Dhawan clearly wanted to get out to acceleration, he hit 2 fours vs Amir in the previous over, and he was looking to drive that bowl which he normally wouldn't have if the req run wasn't so high..

Same for Kohli who got out flicking the ball across the line which isnt a normal cricketing shot so early on in the innings

The ban has been over for 1.5 years, more than enough time to get rid of the belly and put on some mass. However, he feels entitled because of the way he has been fast-tracked and all the hype that he has generally not deserved. We as a country suffer from Superstar Syndrome and fan-boyism due to which players like Amir don't feel the need to work their backsides off.

He lets the bilaterals for other players who want good stats.
He performed In the biggest match of all, Pakistan vs India final!
Clutch player, Match winner. Best bowler In the World In ODI's.

Lol that's some analysis, 👏
Kohli can't score In big matches. He is very good In bilaterals or lesser matches.

In Asia Cup game, Kohli was LBW upfront, that looked out, even replay showed umpire's call, the reason Umpire did not gave it out, because of fear of giving too many LBWs in just two overs and that too of main player like Kohli, otherwise even Rohit was out on first ball as well, there were four LBWs in those 8/10 balls, which umpire normally would give out...Other than that there was at least one big edge, which went to slip, but our brilliant Captain did not had 2nd slip, when wicket was that green and Amir was bowling, as good as anybody ever bowled in T20 with new ball...Its not like Kohli had easy time that day, he only had to survive three overs of Amir, which he did not

Coming back to CT game, the very first ball Kohli face, the forth ball of the match, he was cut in half and there was a look on his face, 'Did we really ball on this wicket? - How the hell we are going to score 340'... Next over, first time he gave as good of an edge, as you can expect, completely beaten. Second one, he was beaten by angle and pace...

Dhawan was beaten by extra pace and zip on a tight line. All three were bowlers wickets, he force them to play, non of them were going after the bowler ATM... There were no false shots because of score board pressure, Dhoni played out Amir's next over, left few and even padded one delivery ;-)

Amir:You know the Shehzad how we get rid of him

Cook:Put him in the washing machine telling him it's a selfie box.

Amir's belly and his physique sums up his attitude and work ethic. No wonder he goes through the motions and bowls at 70% (by Azhar Mahmood's own admission) most of the time.

A lazy performer who probably feels entitled and needs someone to lit a fire for him to bend his back and give his 100% best.

Hopefully he will use the Champions Trophy final as an inspiration instead of going back to his usual post-ban mode.

This is the same case for a lot of DESI players. Apart from a couple of the indian players and mishba, most of these brown dudes carries around a fat tummy. For an elite sportsmen, this is outrageous.

So they were team mates last year at Essex but from tomorrow they'll be opponents again!
