Pakistan were awful in the field in 3rd ODI and today I watched about 15 overs of Englands innings. Fakhar Zaman dropped a relatively easy catch of Jason Roy when he was on 25, and he went on to make a hundred, that is the match lost right there.

Every single english player would have grabbed that easily.

I also read Root was dropped and Curran should have been run out on 2, went on to make 30 runs.

Yes the bowlers have been poor, and so have England’s bowlers as well, so for me the difference between the two sides in todays match was fielding.

And when I am into fielding nothing irritates me more than a boundary towards third man, no matter how fine our fielder is standing he just can not prevent the boundary whereas poms stops 8/10 balls down there.

Said it before when Steve Rixon left the fielding has deteriorated to a point where we looks as bad as we have for some time.

It's not just catches though, the overall fielding standard has dropped and they look like a side that can't even get the basics correct.

This is where Umar akmal and imam ul haq would have come in handy with their exhuberance in the field

Umar Akmal was embarrassing in the field in the Australia series, he's lost more than just his batting ability over the years. Shadab however makes a big difference to our fielding

Well to be honest the catch of Jason Roy was not that easy, these catches either stick or they don't. Regarding fielding maybe the fielders are not pushing themselves due to world cup.

UA is the best fielder at backward point Pakistan have
Shadab can’t be relied on for making up our bowling and fielding, we need a unit to contribute
Shaheen afridi is a liability in the field
Pakistan really need to drill the players into fielding better

Only PCB can be incompetent enough to let a coach like Steve Rixon go because they didn't value his services despite massive improvement in our fielding during his time. I do not even know who his replacement is, but whoever he is he needs to be fired post-haste and black listed so that no other team suffers because of him.

The babus in PCB will never let us be a top team

NZ indeed put down many chances. Latham dropped Babar who scored a match winning century.

Our poor fielding is another reason why we don't deserve to go through. We have dropped the most catches and a lot of those catches cost us.

Our players just don't enjoy fielding. To be good at something one needs to enjoy it. Our fielding has not improved at all partly because many players appeared unfit too.

True and apart from shadab, whose a brilliant fielder, the rest are just awful fielders because they are so physically unfit! Not one of them looks like an athlete!

Haris dropped Soumya Sarkar and it was a very easy catch. Pakistan got away with it because BD is not a heavyweight team. But, big teams can take advantage of these drops.

Fielding has been really faulty by almost all teams in this World Cup.

I have often seen the dinner table of Pak players. What we see is biryani, kebabs, pizza, roti, paratha's and curry's for dinner. For dessert there is ice cream, custard, rice puddings, ras milai, and ghulab jamin. Pak dietitians don't seem to have a clue as to how sportsmen should eat. The PCB doesn't care about things like discipline and healthy eating.

You mean when asif ali dropped finch off wahabs bowling and finch went on to make a century, which caused us to lose the match and ultimately, get knockef out of the tournament?!!
2 questions,
Why was asif ali fielding in the slips.
And why was malik selected for that game or any other game?!!

Take the India match for example, Fakhar throwing the ball at the wrong end, thus giving an extra life to Rohit who went on to score 140 may have cost us the match.

Fakhar had one heck of a bad tournament!
He needs to have a break and sort himself out!

What about many runout missed by PAK? The botched runout chance of Rohit stands out.

Fielding mishaps may not be seen in the stat books. When you analyze the chances of your team you have to include that as well. Pak fans were super confident that they would make the last 4 ignoring their perennial weakness.

New Zealand fielders flying like superman taking mind boggling one handed catches

How is this fair to other teams lol

I have lost count on number of matches pak has lost just because of catches being dropped.

2003 WC Razzaq dropping Sachin, could have India 57-3, Sachin went on to score 98

2011 WC again dropping Sachin multiple times

2011 WC dropping Taylor twice

2015 WC dropping Watson

2019 WC dropping Warner

2020 T20 WC dropping Wade

2022 Asia cup, dropping Rajapaksa twice

2023 WC dropping Warner

These are few famous games I remember. I am sure there would be plenty more

EXACTLY, CATCHES WINS MATCHES, PAKISTANS LOSS MOSTLY IN IMPORTANT MATCHES IS BECAUSE OF DROPPING CATCHES, THEY NEED TO IMPROVE THEIR FIELDING & LEARN TO OBSERVE PRESSURE IN IMPORTANT MATCHES AND PERFORM.

With Pakistan you always get two chances. :afridi

True, I am not sure why don't they fix these small gaps, I mean catching & fielding doesn't require any advance technique like batting and bowling which sometimes players fail to learn. This is always a low hanging fruit which every player should work upon.

Pakistan has been dropping catches for decades. But they were winning even with that. Pakistan is in Bangladesh's position right now. Every little thing has to go right for them.

Aussies dropped some catches tonight which bc is very unlike the Aussies

They made a lot of difference
