After the banter between Rishabh Pant and Australia captain Tim Paine made headlines in the third Test in Melbourne, India’s wicketkeeper-batsman actually turned babysitter for Paine. Bonnie Paine, Tim’s wife, posted a picture of Pant with her babies and said ‘Best Babysitter.’

Paine had joked about recruiting Pant to Hurricanes in order to try and distract him in the middle. “Big MS (Dhoni) is back in the one-day squad too, we might get him (Pant) down to the Hurricanes… we need a batter. Fancy that, Pantsy? Extend your little Aussie holiday. Beautiful town Hobart too, I’ll get you a nice apartment on the waterfront. (I’ll) have him over for dinner. Can you babysit? I’ll take the wife to the movies one night and you’ll look after the kids,” the Aussie captain was heard on the stump mic.

The banter had continued the next day with Pant was heard saying to Mayank Agarwal, “We got a special guest today. Have you ever heard of a temporary captain, ever, Mayank?” he said.

India beat Australia by 137 runs to take a 2-1 lead in the four-match Test series. This is the first time that India have won the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne and the first time since 1981 that they have won a match at the MCG.

He is 21 yet he seems to be able to create that visibility and gets mingled with players across the world nicely. That's a good thing indeed.

Tim Paine's banter was funnier but Pant hit back with the temporary captain point which was also pretty funny.

This is actually very sweet and shows this series is not being played with as much animosity as social media would like to portray.

Social media wants to make a big deal out of everything.

This is the result of India’s status in the game and the expose the young players have. They have confident personalities and are not intimidated.

Very Classy gesture. However I don't think he actually did anything more than holding the babies for a few mins for a photo session. But that's good enough to make a great story. Well done Pant and Paine.

The sledging from these guys is pretty basic compared to what Rod Marsh said to Botham:

Rod Marsh : “So how’s your wife and my kids?”

Ian Botham : “The wife is fine but the kids are retardedd

I remember reading that. I wish Botham had knocked his blocks off. I know I would have. No problem with a life ban.

Lighten up. Not everyone takes insults on the family personally. It's just words. Doesn't mean Marsh actually had kids with Botham's wife.

This is great! :)) Haha I've loved the banter in this series between the two sides it's been real fun to watch. Hoping to hear lots more in the Final Test, and One Days.

Great, I like this guy ( Pant ) a lot now. He is a character and crickets needs players like him to attract youngsters to the game. A future superstar , hats off to the selectors for showing confidence on him.

Brilliant! Cricket being played in good spirit. Tough not he field and having a laugh off it.

Paine is such a fun character. He sledges but nothing is harmful really in what he says.

Be mean and nasty to the opponents in the field, friends out of the field, that should be the spirit.

Future PSL ambassador! Would love to see him play for Peshawar Zalmi one day

He actually don't sledge, in the sense not the orthodox sledging we are used to Aussies . He goes on a funny conversation with fine leg fielder about the batsman and its normally very witty. :))

Immense respect for Payne and his wife. His wife have to deal with two toddlers by herself when he is traveling and he probably missed lot of important milestone of his kids.

Lol that's hilarious if true

I doubt its true given that most stories involving old era cricket are all full of bombast , hyperbole and quite often flat out lies that became "facts" after being retold ad-nauseum by their mindless fans ( they will be here soon on this thread). These stories generally don't hold up to scrutiny.

There's another classic between Edo Brandes and Mc Grath. Mc Grath asked Brandes why he was so fat. Brandes' epic comeback was 'Whenever I'm intimate with your wife, she gives me a cookie' making all the Aussie fielders laugh around him

Kudos to Pant and the Indians.

This was lovely, and we should all salute this Indian team.

They are all conducting themselves really well apart from Kohli who just has that Warner-style obnoxious personality. I don’t think he’s ever heard the words “grace” or “magnanimous “.

But the rest of them are a real credit to their country.

Eddo Brandes was overweight but goodness me he was a brilliant bowler - very similar to Ryan Harris. He just narrowly predated Zimbabwe getting Test status - by the time they got it his knees had gone and he had to bowl around 130K.

(He was never Express, but previously he’d been around 140’ish.)

Good on him and proves the wise words I said at the start of this series.

This India Australia thing is not a rivalry, it’s a forced rivalry by the big powers, especially the BCCI mafia.

The players and the Australian public couldn’t give a damn about rivalry with each other or India.

Good to see Pant and Paine getting along. Didn’t know Paine was a family man, good for him.

This picture confirms all of above?

Those were the days of tough , passionate and manly cricket, unlike today’s sissy and “friendly” and highly regulated cricket.

If anything, cricket is played with more passion and aggression now than yesteryears. All these sledging and comebacks you are hearing about are mostly hearsay. Yea, if you watch YouTube clips it may look tough, but for the most part it was pretty much very friendly. Heck Test cricket was played over 6 days till 90’s , they had a rest day between 3rd and 4th day.

Wow. Loved it. Also, congratulations to him for winning the 3rd test. Lad is doing great.

This is how its supposed to be. Take it as a joke instead of getting your person feelings hurt. 21 years off age yet acts like a mature one. Wish Virat was like that aswell. Sportmenship 5/5

This is very sweet.Good on rishabh.Seems like a nice guy.I don't understand the hate for virat off the field he seems like a nice guy too

Have to be blinded by hate to pick on Virat Kohli - The off field personality.

Good on Rishabh Pant. Goes a long way in positive PR.

I bet you thought Lillee kicking Miandad behind the umpire's back and backing away was manly.

It actually doesn't matter.

Glenn McGrath was a nice guy off the field - I've actually met him - but on the field he was a disgusting embarrassment who would have been banned for months if not years if he had been a footballer.

I have already written in this thread congratulating the Indian tourists APART from Virat Kohli for their exemplary conduct on this tour, as well as their good performances.

But I couldn't care less if Virat Kohli is a nice guy off the pitch. I only know him as a cricketer, and his pathetic, childish and unsporting behavior on the pitch means that I have nothing but contempt for the man, if "man" is even an appropriate word to use for this sort of overgrown toddler.

Well India are winning matches and friends. Congratulations to them.

Well done Pant & Paine- and I guess it shows what can happen when you keep the sledging on the funny/less abusive side. You can actually get to know or appreciate the other guys in the middle if it's done right.

Marsh and Botham were drinking buddies.

Bothams reply came about 15 years later, both men were best friends and close families.

That's how he is and will remain. Learn to live with it. And no, the ICC won't be able to do jack about him apart from maybe some fines. And he is 10X better than what the Aussies were during their period of domination.

Australian Prime Minister Shares A Hilarious Moment With Rishabh Pant, Says 'You Sledge Right'

Nice to see this sort of spirit among the Indian players. The Indian Gen-Z is quite something else.
Good that we have left the uncouth types like Harbhajan and their 'maa-ki behen-ki' swearwords behind.

That was a Gun ZIM team. Their best ever around the 99 WC

Well said. I wonder what he'll do after cricket?

Well said. I wonder what he'll do after cricket?

Continue earning 20 million a year in endorsements? Probably will be a sought after batting coach and TV guest?

One thing's for sure, he won't have to pimp himself out to foreign T20 leagues, or write stupid books. Or go the Kolpak route.

Well said. I wonder what he'll do after cricket?

He married a smart woman so will enter business with her by his side.

Most Indian cricketers post 90s keep investing their money. I know a couple of Ranji guys (with little international cricket) who became silent partners in local real estate firms.

Absolutely not lol. This is the worst comparison you have ever made. Eddo brandes was a military medium trundlers who was slower than even heath streak. :)))

And streak was consistently around 130 kph. Ryan Harris was clocked around 150 kph at his peak. And was still clocking around 147 odd in the 2013/14 season. Brother Chief Destroyer MMHS Is this even a comparison to begin with?

He doesn't understand fast bowling.

LOL. Pant has learned his cricket in Delhi where even housewives use those words. Most of Gen Z cricketers have working class cricketers and they don't take crap from anybody . I am pretty sure they would be using those words whenever necessary. Besides, this is sports. We want passionate folks here, not choirboys.

Even by Junaids standards that is a horrible horrible comparison. Ryan Harris vs Eddo

Thanks brothers. That's exactly what I thought. Im pretty sure his only logic would've been that they were comparable because eddo played in the early 90's and was, by default, atleast as quick as Ryan Harris

The chicken farmer won a WC game against Poms defending like 134, may be that has left a scar in Junaids mind. I think, he was a decent seemer at his prime but not sure how he resembled Ryan Harris, who was truly a world class fast bowler, hampered by injury.

Its cricketing blasphemy to make such ridiculous comparisons just because they won a WC match against england. By that logic, Kevin O' Brien is comparable to Viv as well. :D
