Pakistan's run rate is worse due to that heavy defeat.

What will Be Pakistan's Net Run Rate if D/L Gives Pakistan the Win?

Maths whiz please.

I think Pak will gain +0.38, assuming the match is stopped now. Pak is ahead by 19 runs by DLS method, so I have added 219 of SA's score and calculated NRR. Not sure, if this is correct way to calculate in case of DLS intervention though..
 
I hope rain stop. we get 60-70 revised target and we chase it within 10-12 overs with no wicket lost it would be a huge win and net runrate will boost!
 
If I'm not wrong, Wickets don't matter in calculating the NRR. It simply calculates a team's total divide by overs and the opposite team's and then the difference is what is NRR.

Wickets matter when D/L target is set.
 
It will be -1.33 NRR

Rain just stopped.. we might get 8 to 10 overs of play if field is dry
 
ESPNCricinfo says if everything stays the same, we'll win and our NRR will go from -3.024 to -1.33
 
NRR will only matter if SA beats Ind, Pak beats SL and Ind beats SL. Then there will be 3 teams with 4 points.

If Pak beats SL and India beats SA, then both India and Pak should be through, NRR won't matter.

At this point Indian is considerably ahead in NRR.

So from a Pakistani perspective India either wins against SA or in the case it loses to SA it goes onto lose to SL as well.
 
Yup, it's not down to NRR quite yet. Good thing is we can now prepare physically & mentally for the next task ahead which is to beat Sri Lanka. It's not a forgone conclusion as many here think! They are strong at chasing, so a weak batting performance from Pakistan will lose the game for us! I think we can talk more about NRR after the India vs Sri Lanka game. If it all goes according to prediction & India wins, then surely SL ALL but out of the tournament. This will help Pakistan big because it takes away SL team's desire to win the last game.

I back Pakistan to go through based on two points:
1) If Sri Lanka lose to India, they might not be up for the last game and will want to just go home as they "practically" cannot advance
2) Pakistan's game is second, and so we will know exactly what we need to do in order to topple either SA/India in the event that India drops 2 points.
 
IF India wins tomorrow. I will be fully supporting India to beat South Africa as this will mean that Pakistan only has to beat Sri lanka to advance to the next stage. I think that would be the 4th time ever that I would be supporting India against anyone else.

pakistan should aim to win with a huge margin, Srilanka will be without tharanga (suspended for 2 games), mathews (injured) and kapugedra(injured)

Pakistan qualifies if it beats SL and:

1. India wins against SA. Pakistan is through.

2. India loses to SA, but wins against SL. This one is tougher for Pakistan as it would need big victories to jack up its current low NRR.
 
Tomorrow is SL vs IND, and if SL wins then I'll back South Africa vs IND, and again we can be through after winning against SL...

Seems very tough though.

If SL wins and SA also beat India. Then SA qualify and Pak vs SL becomes virtual quarterfinal. India fly home.

Exciting times ahead. All four teams in it.

rained out match between india and sri lanka. south africa beating india. and pakistan beating sri lanka also gives the exact same result in terms of permutations.

i have no idea how the weather is going to be tho
 
I believe we would find a way to semis if we win against Lankans (more permutations favouring our qualification then).

Lets wait and see
 
Actually, Group A has a very interesting scenario.

If England beat Australia, then Australia are out of the tournament. Then the winner of NZ vs Bangladesh makes it into the semis. If Australia do lose to England, their only hope would be the NZ vs Bangladesh game is only wiped out.

If Australia beat England, then both Australia and England are through irrespective of who wins in the other game.

So, no guarantees as to which team will make it to the semis from Group A yet.
 
With only one game remaining for each side, England is the only side that has qualified for the Semis. From that point of view, the tournament is very interesting. Still no close games though!

Hopefully none of the remaining games are rained out, or that will hurt this tournament.
 
If pakistan defeat SL by 75/80 runs, they would top the group and would play BD in semi.

If Srilanka and Pakistan match washed out Srilanka will through to Semis?

To get to the top of the table how many runs required for Sri Lanka / Pakistan?

Plz clarify.

IND n PAK did favours to each other

I think both India and PAK did favours for reach other.

Firstly IND did a favour by losing to SL thereby removing the NRR out of the question. Remember PAK had a bad NET after the drubbing they received in the hands of IND.

Next PAK made it easier for IND by removing ENG who were the favourites thereby making it easier for IND.

no team did anyone a favor.

if india had won against sri lanka, it would still remain the same. if india lost to south africa, it would have gone out because of two losses. one to lanka and one to south africa while we'd qualify at india s expense.

if India had won SL game and lost to SA, Pakistan would not have qualified for finals even after beating SL and SA as their NRR was so poor.

you didn't get my point. if india had lost to south africa the whole situation would have been super fluid again. you never know how bad a loss can be.

if Pak had lost to SL, they would not have qualified either. Not sure what is your point.

what OP was saying is, India losing to SL did really help Pakistan to progress to semis. it took the NRR out of the equation. Ofcourse they had to still win against SA/SL.
 
Final Net Run Rate of Pakistan in Champions Trophy 17

Can anyone calculate what NRR did we end up with after the final?
