Adding a multiple choice poll here. Choose the options you would select (try and stick to 5-6 I guess). Feel free to also state the reasons for your choices.

Added a few extra options from PSL for completeness so that no one feels left out. :rahat

Then Javed Miandad has the gall to say that we have phaast bowlers in every gully and nukaar.

Voted for 6 which is probably one more than there should be but:

Hasan Ali - Guaranteed pick, attacking option in the middle with reverse+good pace. Potential to open the bowling and bowl at the death too. Good fielding+Power hitter.

Shaheen Afridi - Guaranteed pick. Attacking opening bowler who has swing, pace and bounce. Can be okay in the middle and death too. Acceptable fielding

Mohammad Amir - Near guaranteed pick unless the Aus series is a total disaster. Experienced opening bowler who can keep it tight at the start against explosive opening batsmen. Excellent death bowler. Can bat a little at 9/10 and acceptable fielder.

Faheem Ashraf - Near guaranteed pick unless the Aus series is a total disaster. Good pace and has been a decent option to open the bowling previously. Bowled well in the middle and took wickets in the PSL especially at the death apart from the one no ball over. Explosive hitter at 7/8 although needs to go on for longer and on a more frequent basis. Excellent fielder.

Junaid Khan - Only if he does well vs. Australia and bowls with good pace. Experienced bowler who opens the bowling and bowls at the death with reverse. Acceptable fielder.

Hasnain - Unlikely to be picked given his age but has the Aus series to impress. Can provide an X factor with fast bouncers and short of a length areas. Potential to be a good partner or a substitute for Hasan Ali as rotation will be important. Need to see more of his fielding.

Realistically only one of Junaid and Hasnain can go and Australia series will help with the decision.
No Shinwari as he lost too many PSL games with conceding big overs and has stopped taking wickets with big swing. Also can't have too many bowlers who are 11's and his bowling has been worse than both Junaid and Hasnain in the recent past.

Some usual suspects in the ones with most votes but that's all we have so far. Unless Hasnain gets some big success in the ODI Series.

Hasan
Shaheen
Hasnain
Junaid
Amir

Not counting Faheem because he'll play as an all rounder, if he plays.

I am letting out a secret tonight. I am giving away the names of a five man attack that will be able to defend low scores. Shhh..dont tell anyone.

I think options already locked for the WC are:

Hasan
Shaheen
Amir

Debateable:

Hasnain
Faheem
Junaid/Abbas

I think Faheem is in the locked bucket too. Good bowler, and whatever you consider of his batting, he brings more to the table with the bat than anyone else in the list.

Hasnain, Junaid, Abbas, Shinwari - 2 our of those will be selected

Mohammad Amir
Hasan Ali
Shaheen Afridi
Faheem Ashraf
Junaid Khan

Honestly Mohammad Hasnain shouldn't be considered too highly. A handful of PSL matches and people go ga-ga

Mohammad Amir, Shaheen Afridi, and Hasan Ali are pretty much locked. Alrounder has to be Faheem Ashraf. These 4 should be playing (barring injury) in the first game.

Even then, I'd still have at least Junaid Khan above him

Why?
Junaid doesn't bring anything unique to the table. Another streaky left arm medium pacer. Junaid / Wahab / Shinwari are totally replaceable

Husnain at-least brings something that no one else does - raw pace!

Guaranteed

Mohammad Amir
Hasan Ali
Shaheen Afridi

Likely

Faheem Ashraf
Junaid Khan (averages 28 in England)

This is how I see it panning out even though Hasnain would be a unique selection.

An exciting thread.

My picks would be

Shaheen
Hasan
Hasnain
Amir
Faheem
Junaid

I would like to see Aamir Yamin go but as a batting allrounder rather than taking a pace bowlers spot.

Shaheen
Amir
Hassan
Junaid
Faheem

I think we need to be realistic. We already have one young raw bowler in Shaheen , and he has proven himself in the games he has played for Pak. I dont really think bringing another rookie like Hasnain would be a good move.

Junaid khan is very under rated on this forum. He turned up for Pak in CT17 and i am sure he will this time round to.

Faheem adds value to the squad, as a bowler in the middle overs. He just needs to work on his batting and especially the short ball.

I would like to see this team

Imam
Fakhar
Babar
Haris
Sarfaraz
Akmal/malik
Shadab
Faheem
Hassan
Amir
Shaheen

That starting 11 gives us 5 bowling options plus harris and even malik if he plays. The batting on paper is till 10. I would bring in Imad for certain games and junaid and mix it up to keep the players fresh.

I highly doubt there will be 6 pacers. There will be 5 pacers most probably like in CT 17.

good point.. 7 batsmen + 3 allrounders (Imad/Shadab/Faheem) + Sarfraz + 4 pacers

Hassan, Shaheen definite locks. Amir is probably a lock too, really leaves 1 spot for the last bowler

Guaranteed

Mohammad Amir
Hasan Ali
Shaheen Afridi

Likely

Faheem Ashraf
Junaid Khan (averages 28 in England)

That seems about right, although I don't trust Junaid in a world cup situation. I think you might as well pick Abbas if you are going for lower speed pacers, at least you know he will be good with the new ball. Junaid, like Amir is just as likely to waste it.

I know it won't be a popular choice, but I would consider Wahab just to bring some sheer pace into the equation. He has looked one of the better performers in the PSL. You could argue that he won't produce in a 50 over game, but all of the Pakistan pace bowlers are inconsistent. At least with Wahab you know he can take wickets in the middle and bowl a good death spell.

Amir, Hasan, Shaheen, Faheem ( Not like him as an allrounder but I think he is the 2nd best right-hand bowler in the country ) and Junaid/Abbas

Well if it was up to me I would have:

Hasan Ali: Hasan is our currently most informed bowler right now. He's also built a pretty good record in England so he will be key for us.

Mohammad Amir: I've with Amir as someone who will be our experienced pacer in the tournament and in England he could be a handful.

Shaheen Shah Afridi: Shaheen has been brilliant whenever he's played for us and yet still only 18 and plenty of potential to fulfill. He can be a brilliant bowler for the future with the rate he's going at.

Mohammad Hasnain: Hasnain has been the find of PSL 4 and I think we should strike while the iron is hot. He could easily be our surprise package for the tournament and me personally I have been very impressed with him.

Mohammad Abbas: Abbas has been brilliant in test cricket and trying him out in England may be a good idea considering he has been successful with Pakistan in 2018 against England. He's also well knowledge in England conditions.

Aamir Yamin: Aamir Yamin for me would make it in the team as a Allrounder and would play. But since he's not being consider which is surprising since he also had a decent PSL but clearly he's not being favoured despite playing under Arthur. With that being said, he could be a handful with the ball as well as the bat. He should have been a part of the team for the Australia series.

The main question is will we play Imad or Faheem. If Imad will be preferred, then technically pakistan will only play 3 proper fast bowlers with shadab, imad, hafeez filling in the rest of the quota.

Imam
Fakhar
Babar
Hafeez
Sarfaraz
Malik
Imad
Shadab
Hassan Ali
Amir
Shaheen

The above would be my playing 11. I would take Faheem along though. Rest 2 bowlers should be Junaid and Hasnain.

My 5 picks are Amir, Hasan, Shaheen, Abbas & Hasnain. I think, Fahim is there as all-rounder, so should be out of scope.

First 3 select themselves - Amir is still the most complete & skilled pacer, Hasan at his pomp most destructive and Shaeen add another dimension - height, quite fast as well.

For the reserves, I think one express pacer is required - options are Hasnain, Wahab & Rauf. I have seen very little of Rauf ...... and too much of Wahab; Hasnain comes with speed and recent success; still not polished enough, but 3-4 months mentoring should be enough for him. For the last spot, I specifically wanted a new ball specialist, preferably right-armer since regular opening pair is lefti.

Between JK & Abbas, I have gone for the unknown one - being right-arm option and Abbas bowled well with new ball in his shot time in PSL. He offers more value as 5th seemer, if just in case PAK wants to go with a 5 men pace attack on typical seemers track. Not the fastest guy, but 127-128 KM might be effective in some conditions with new ball - if required, Sarfraz can give him 7+ overs opening spell and don't use at all in rest of the game. JK is officially 29, so should be at his prime, but he probably has crossed the critical age, hence his bowling looks more lethargic than threatening. Both of them are equally good or bad as fielder or batsman.

For me it the three who have booked their places are Amir, Hasan and Shaheen. This leaves spots for two more fast bowlers and the contestant for these 2 spots are Faheem (he is no allrounder), Hasnain, Wahab, Junaid and Shinwari. I would take Hasnian as the surprise package and take Wahab as to me he was the best bowler of PSL. Wahab didn't take the most wickets because he was the one bowler whom the other sides avoided taking risk when playing against Zalmi. Wahab has hugely disappointed in the past but right now seems to be bowling the best he has bowled in his career and the team Pakistan should take advantage of it.

Agreed.he was phenomenal in psl he has always been though.hasan picked up most wickets but wahab was better.he should definitely be in the world cup squad

1. Shaheen Shah
2. Hassan Ali
3. Mohammad Hasnain
4. Faheem Ashraf

5. Top performer of Pakistan Cup + Pak Odi series vs Australia

Wahab/Amir/Junaid/Rauf/Musa/Abass/Ilyas/Sameen/Ehsan

Tough competition.

Exciting.

1. Junaid
2. Shaheen
3. Sadaf/Rumman
4. Hasan

And Aamer Yameen as a batting all rounder . Faheem has failed in proving himself as all rounder .

Muhammad Amir
Wahab Riaz
Junaid Khan
Shaheen Shah Afridi

4 left man pace quartet to be unleashed in CWC. Never seen before. Never will be.

Your time is up. Left armers time is now.

Shaheen
Amir
Hassan
Junaid
Faheem

You're right but Imad has to play with him finishing the innings batting wise

Faheem is locked, bowling all-rounder. Bowled well again today

He is so locked that Mickey dropped him halfway through the second match of the series?

I think we have seen the last of Fahim till Mickey is coach.

He's rested for the England series.

In 15 player squad:

Shaheen
Hasan Ali
Amir
Junaid Khan
Mohammad Hasnain
Faheem Ashraf

In Playing 11.

Shaheen
Hasan
Hasnain
Amir/junaid/faheem ( rotate them on the basis of form and performance)

Hassan, Shaheen and Amir (he is a big game bowler, would be stupid to leave him out of the squad
) makes the core bowling unit. This leaves spots for two more fast bowlers in the squad and with one spot I would take Hasnain. That leaves for Faheem, Wahab, Junaid, Shinwari, etc. to take the last spot. Not sure who I would pick right now but my feeling is Chief Selector will take Faheem for the last spot.

I think totally the opposite. His bowling is fine.
He shouldn't have been rested and they should have let him practice end over batting and bowling in this series

Hafeez/Haris/Fakhar can bowl a few overs if needed.

Old hafeez yes , new hafeez is not there, fakhar will get the pandya CT treatment every time.
I mean six pukka bowling options. Harris can get there but I don't think he works on his bowling and is unlikely to play. ( He needs to play in top 3 as he takes a while to get going

5 are to be selected, of which 2 were done before this series(Shaheen and Hasan).

6 were selected for this series and only 3 could be taken from them, Faheem Ashraf after passing The Arthur's test has sealed his spot, while Abbas has most probably lost the plot.

So, only 2 out of following 4 pacers would be selected barring any injury, to round off the pace bowling department.

Mohammad Amir
Junaid Khan
Usman Shinwari
Mohammad Hasnain

I would play all 4 of these in the remaining 3 matches, to select the best 2 out of them. This will also prove to be a fair comparison, as all of them would be playing on the same pitch. Also, hopefully it will be the end of Yasir Shah's limited over career.

Not sure what Mickey's beef is with Junaid. He will even give chance after chance to trundler Abbas but zero chances for Junaid even though whenever he has played he has performed better than his competition.

So many voted for garbage Faheem.I am surprised.:hafeez2

He is one of the few Pakistani pace bowlers who can consistently hit the 140kph plus mark. Shinwari and Junaid were mostly bowling in the 130's today, and no surprise when Pat Cummins got the Pakistani knees knocking by steaming in with high 140s missiles in answer to our tame pace attack.

Overrated all of them, only good against own batsmen lol

.Fahim Ashraf
.Shahdab Khan

Bowlers:
Umar Khan (Karachi Kings)
( exceptional talent. Imad Wasim is lethal when he plays t20 with new ball. In ODIs we need specialist bowlers likewise Kuldeep yadav of india, Chehal, Santner & Sodhi, Moeen and Rasheed.. so with Shadab its very lethal combo in the middle overs.)

.Shaheen Shah
.Hasan Ali
.Junaid Khan
.U Shinwari

*(Does not put Amir because of he is not in form. Lacks Wickets and confidence. Poor record since after champions trophy.

Hasan, Shaheen, Junaid, Faheem with Hassnain as the X-Factor for me.

Only 3 or 4 out of 5 should play in any game together (depending on the pitch) - given they can't hold a bat which is a tragedy (goes for you too Faheem!)

No non-performers like Amir, Shinwari, Wahab, Abbas for me. Given enough chances, lost enough games.
