Shoaib Malik speaking to PCB

"I would like to dedicate this big milestone to my parents; They have always prayed for me and I wish that my father was alive today as he would have been very happy, but that's how life is"

"From my mother, I make sure whenever I get to the ground, I call her and get her prayers"

"I am very happy and would like to thank all those who supported me through this long journey; I would also like to thank all those players I shared the dressing room with; Also the supporting staff, without them this would not be possible"

"I am enjoying cricket and trying to make sure that I continue putting consistent performances like I am doing now"

"All this would not have been possible without being given consistent chances, its very difficult without that"

"I would like to congratulate people of Pakistan as I am the first Asian cricketer to have reached this milestone of making 10k runs in T20 cricket and I hope I will carry on in the way I have been playing"

When you play so many t20 matches something's bound to happen...

Many Congratulations! What a feat by the Don.:36::pkflag

That's a lot of runs spread across 15 years of T20s.

I know he has his flaws, but his fitness has been brilliant throughout his career.

I still believe though that it's time to move on from him in international cricket.

Lol hes talking like hes made 10000 test runs

is this really an achievement seeing as tho hes playing literally for ever?

Well, that's an achievement in itself, playing forever when he's only a utility player.

LOL this is such a pointless milestone. He makes it sound as if he scored 10.000 TEST runs. I mean Kieron Pollard has achieved this as well, that tells you how much it is worth. No matter the quality or location these guys play T20s every where.

I guess its good for him to promote this and make a big deal of it even when.it isnt

It keeps him visible and in the news and hes hoping he ll get many more t20 contracts around the world on the bsck of this "achievement"

Shoaib Malik has been a good domestic T20 player for years. Not good enough for internationals, but he is good enough for these leagues. Well done to him for achieving this milestone.

The most talented batsman to come out of Pakistan in last 21 years until the emergence of Umar Akmal and Babar 'The Bobby' Azam.

Congratulations to Damad-e-Hind, a legend of T20 cricket.

This is like the most useless record ever. Not sure whether to congratulate him for these runs or the Pak fans through the pain of seeing him bat.

Karachi: Shoaib Malik said he aims to try his luck in commentary and anchoring after taking retirement from cricket.

Speaking exclusively to ARY News after achieving 10,000 T20 runs milestone, Malik said he is enjoying playing cricket and has no plan to take retirement in near future.

“I had said to retire after T20 World Cup 2020 but it has now been shifted to next year so my all focus is on that. I am fit and can play more cricket,” said Malik.

“Yes after retirement from cricket, I have a couple of plans which include commentary and I want to start my social media show as well, let’s hope for the best,” the 38-years-old cricketer went onto add.

Malik said it was an honor for him to score 10,000 T20 runs and mark his name among some of the top cricketers in the shorter format of the game. “I am honored to have achieved this milestone and I look forward to some more prominent performances,” he said.

The cricketer also shared how his wife Sania Mirza reacted to this achievement. “Sania was a little upset that I didn’t tell her about this achievement before. She also scolded me for this but as you know husbands are used to of all this,” he told ARY News correspondent.

The veteran cricketer wants to deliver his experience to upcoming cricketers by playing with them. “I want to play with youngsters to share my experience. The day I will feel myself a burden on the team, I will quit,” he said.

Malik suggested Pakistan team management to set a combination for the upcoming World Cup in 2023. “The team management needs to plan things for World Cup 2023. A pool of 20 to 22 players should be formed in order to give experience to all those players and make them capable of competing in the world event,” he said.

“Take an example of how England came up with proper execution of their plans. After the 2015 World Cup, they formed a team with strong combinations and then continued with those combinations to win World Cup in 2019,” he added.

The all-rounder is looking forward to playing the upcoming T20I series against Zimbabwe. “I am available for selection and if I get a chance, I will try my best to fulfill my role in the team,” he concluded.

It must be noted here that Zimbabwe is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan in late October. The visitors will play three T20Is in Rawalpindi and as many ODIs in Lahore.

A legend and a must have player for T20 leagues.

He is more like a Pakistani version of Graeme Hick who scored tons of runs in domestic cricket but was mostly average on the big stage against better bowlers.

Respect for achievement but also kind request to take intl retirement

56* off 22 in the final of the tournament.

Open challenge to Pak selectors.

And if its of any consequence....

Shoaib Malik hit the fastest 50 of his career today - 50 off 20 balls

There is no “open challenge to Pak selectors”...

He’s gonna break record for the being the only 50 year old to play international cricket, and then the only 70th old etc etc...
oldest captain and the oldest player ever to hit a six in international cricket.

Malik will only stop playing when he decides to retire and I don’t expect t that to be until he’s around 80
