Mammoth effort by Abid. Hopefully he can build upon this confidence and carries on from here.

Total selfish from Babar. He should let him to score 300.

That was an outstanding innings from Abid. Not a fan of his but have to appreciate an opener carrying his bat across 2 days and scoring a double century. Fantastic batting.

Abid Ali Speaking to PCB:

"Thanks to the Almighty, this is a great achievement for me as it's my first double century; There were 2 good partnerships that helped me get there, firstly it was with Azhar Ali and then with Nauman Ali who really helped in building my confidence when he came on"

"Obviously I was under pressure as I was wanting to play a big innings"

"Nauman Ali told me to relax and to keep on playing to make my double-hundred; I was saddened to see that Nauman Ali could not get his maiden hundred but that partnership with him really helped the team"

"The double-hundred is an achievement for me as I was unable to score big in the last 2-3 series; But I had been putting in the hardwork and the coaching staff and NHPC really helped me as did those associated with the Pakistan side here in Zimbabwe"

"My plan, when I came in the morning, was to play until the end of the innings, and the management had told us to play a minimum of 2 sessions today; But when we lost two quick wickets, and especially with the loss of Mohammad Rizwan's wicket, I got confused about our approach but Nauman Ali came in and calmed things down and gave me confidence"

Abid Ali's interviews are so uninspiring. There's next to no actual analysis offered and it's just the same old "Thanks to Almighty; management gave me confidence; *insert name* bhai supported me" etc.

The big question is, can he do it against stronger opposition with better bowlers who will be more well-equipped to exploit his technical deficiencies?

Don't get carried away.

He wouldn't do it against any top 4 ranked team.

I would say he will struggle even against the top 8. Any team with a half decent new ball bowler will trouble him.

He already has two hundreds against a top 8 side apart from today’s knock .

Why do some people get salty when anyone other than their favourite player does well . Abid Ali might not be everyone’s cup of tea but the lad has just carried his bat and scored a 200.

Some might say it’s Zimbabwe , fair point but all our other batsman on this tour have not achieved this feat and is only the 3rd Pakistani so let’s just appreciate one’s achievements and stop belittling them.

Look, I'm happy for him and I hope he proves me wrong in the future but I'm fairly certain that his minnow bashing will come back to haunt us against better opposition. I think most PCT fans who can analyze the situation with foresight will agree with my assessment.

nothing to get excited about here. the guy struggled to get 200 runs in combined series away to NZ and home to SA. unless he improves his technical flaws he will go back to a walking wicket as soon as we play someone decent again.

wasim Akrams 257 vs zimbos was more of a memorable knock then this one vs Abids. he batted most of it with saqlain mushtaq. waqar younis next man in had his pads on for 10 hours before coming out and getting out 1st ball.

This same guy averaged 8 against South Africa at home. He could score a 400 against Zimbabwe and it wouldn't change the fact that he's clearly not good enough against even a half-decent bowling attack. This double century will just give him a longer rope and he will continue to fail as soon as he starts facing actual Test match level bowling lineups. Shouldn't even have been in the squad for this tour after his repeated failures against England, New Zealand and South Africa. I just cannot stand players like this.

Congrats keep it up! Double hundred even in a club game is not easy.
Abid earned his spot after consistent performers as an opener in domestic.
Hopefully the confidence gained will help Abid in games vs tougher opponents.

Congrats him to however this is a disaster for Pakistan. This guy is a pure minnow basher.

We are now stuck with him for 2 years.

After failing miserably against New Zealand and South Africa, he finally found a team to score runs against, pathetic player, minnow basher.
