Congratulations to England for the historic win.

They won against India who had Sehwag, Gambhir, Sachin, Pujara, Kohli, Dhoni, Ashwin, Harbhajan and Zaheer in 2012.
However that English team was one of their strongest in the history featuring Cook, KP, Trott, Bell, Prior, Broad, Anderson and Swann.

Stokes has led the relatively unknown names to a great achievement.

Among other notable good performances they won 1-0 in Pakistan in 2000.
Another great performance I remember was from 2006 test series in India which they drawn 1-1. Flintoff was star of that series.

Yes. Their best performance in Asia in the last decade or so. Imam claimed that Pakistan had both the first two games “in their pocket” but I disagree. England dominated all throughout the series.

Thank you from England fans for the congratulations.

This is arguably England’s best result in Test cricket since winning the series in India in 2012.

Where I have seen the difference between England and Pakistan is that (unlike Pakistan) the England team has given each player a clearly designated role in the side for them to fill, so they have understood what is expected of them and lived up to what they have been asked to do.

Crawley — take on the pacers and get the shine off the new ball
Duckett — sweep and reverse sweep the spinners
Pope — lay a solid platform for the middle order with the openers
Root — drop anchor, rotate the strike and build partnerships through the innings
Brook — play a dominant innings and crash around the older ball
Stokes — Captain Fantastic, it all flows from him
Foakes — expert keeper-bat who plays carefully with the middle/lower order when England have lost a few wickets in order to rebuild the innings
Rehan — ace kiddo legspinner and pinch hitter
Robinson — metronomic off stump bowler
Leach — Ben Stokes’s number one spinner
Anderson — the old wily veteran

Great times to follow England.

England should not overly bask in this glory. Pakistan has even lost to Zimbabwe at home in 1998. Beating Pakistan in Pakistan is not some unreachable fortress like India. England will be thoroughly tested in countries like India, South Africa, Australia etc

Exactly. No doubt England played well but Pakistan not only failed to play up to their potential but also ensured England could play their brand of cricket by providing them with flat roads and picking absolutely toothless bowling attacks. They will not get this anywhere else in the world as no other team wastes its home advantage like Pakistan does. India will come at them with their spinners on rank turners and I doubt most of these English batsmen will survive there. Not that England is not a good team but there are still many chinks in their armor and their present strategy hasn't been tested in conditions that do not suit their style of play.

Totally dominated the series. Great results for Eng.

2012 win in India was a better result than this imo.
