What's new

Congratulations to Fakhar Zaman for becoming first Pakistani batsman to score 200 in ODIs

Zero improvment in 2 years.

I dont think he can improve. His cricket iq is not that high.
He cant play off the legs, he has no flick, no pull..

I dont think he will last another year, unless we keep playing minows

A lefty who cant hit the balls on his pads. Enough said

I have been watching enough cricket to know Pakistan fans will rip apart Shaan Masood to tiny pieces if he is ever given 26 games. He bats at a terrible SR, and is an inferior version of Imam. Khurram Manzoor also works hard, but I'm sure no one here would want him in the team right now.

Archer and Wood had an average series, so I'm not sure why their absence makes such a difference. Fakhar has won us matches, something that half our team hasn't done in a while. Let's pick them apart first. If us PPers had their way, Shaheen would have been dropped since that England series, and we all know how well he bowled in the WC.

Fakhar should be sent to the NCA with clear instructions to work extra hard on his technique. He is a very good batsman and shouldn't be thrown away.

You are just assuming all this if Shan Masood does play 26 games. He didn't fail in the last game and scorec 50 runs in 54 balls. He scored 161 runs in 134 against England Lions, and scored a first century century against NZ A last year. Shan has produced results in SA test series, don't know why are you even comparing him with Khumram Manzoor. Fakhar looked like a clown in the last test series :)))

Don't worry Shan will have a long test career and he will enter ODI team soon.

He hits the ball horribly for a batsman. In the whole world cup he hit about 7 or 8 well hit shots. Joke of a player who has had his moment. Time to move on or he will cost us another WC.

Come on man this is unfair. He's done more than enough to be backed and the mentality you are displaying is exactly what has cost us in years gone by. If you want to be a successful team, you've got to back players in good times and bad - this is the only way you will get players who play for the team and perform at their best.

If you make everyone feel like every match could be their last, you will get a bunch of players who play for themselves and struggle under the metal pressure they are being put under.

Take Imam for example - so many people during the World Cup called for his head and made all sorts of unfair comments about nepotism. He scores a century in the final game and now everyone is off his back again - until the next time he makes a low score when everyone will be on his case again.

In Fakhar, Imam, Barber and Harris you have 4 guys who have shown great skill and performance at the highest level. It's about time us Pakistanis backed them and backed them for the long term. No chopping and changing. No destroying their careers. Just back them.

Agreed but there's also such a thing of being too comfortable. He should be persisted with, but we should have another opener ready to replace him if his poor form continues. Healthy competition can be a good thing.

Exactly

Some fans don't understood that having a 3rd opener as a back up is the right thing

I agree that healthy competition is a good thing. But all these comments which are being made about Fakhar right now are just wrong. He's done great things for Pakistan and deserves a little respect. There's a difference between saying Fakhar's performance was disappointing and saying Fakhar is a hack who's never been any good and deserves to be dropped permanently etc etc. There seems to be no middle ground with some Pakistani fans - the player is either an all time legend or is so bad that he can't play for the local village team.

Have a back up opener for sure. But Fakhar has done more than enough right now to be backed for the long term. A handful of quiet games is nowhere near enough to be thinking of bringing someone else in to replace him.

Fakhar and Hassan would’ve been dropped long ago had they not contributes to the CT win. They have been mostly pathetic for over a year now. We need to drop them and hope they find some form in domestic cricket.

How did we end up comparing Fakhar and Shan in terms of test cricket? :))

You can hold on to that thought howmuch ever you want, but Shan Masood will never have a good ODI career. He is too one dimensional and not good enough. Should stick to test cricket.

Will take Fakhar every day over him in ODI cricket.

Congrats Fakhar Bhai on this ‘big achievement’.

Congrats also on scoring 186 runs in 8 innings in the World Cup.

Will we ever see Fakhar Zaman in that sort of form again?

Prior to the England series he blasted 193, and 103 in consecutive innings in South Africa , so that form did return. When on song he is complete match winner

Like many Pakistani batsmen, he’s just not consistent. His technique is far from being air tight and doesn’t look like he’s worked on this too much.

Extremely limited batsman. Struggled big time against the off spin or Ali and Livingston.

Big record for Fakhar but one that probably hurt his career more in terms of expectations
