Terrific rearguard performance in their 2nd innings and terrific bowling to bowl out Pakistan.

Thought Williamson has been the underrated batsmen throughout this series, but other also chipped in. Nicholls and Watling to name a couple. Boult was helped out by Ajaz and co and their field settings were spot on.

Pakistan just generally have been underwhelming and poor.

We have seen the likes of de Villiers and Cook score 250+ in the UAE, but Williamson's 139 was hands down the best innings by an overseas batsman in the UAE so far. A remarkably resilient effort under pressure.

Completely took the game away from Pakistan. No one in our team is remotely capable of producing a knock like that.

True captain's knock who rose to the occasion. Meanwhile Pakistan has Sarfaraz

To think some users on this board derided Williamson as some bit-part player and overrated is astonishing :))

Congratulations New Zealand fans....Williamson you are a champion player :14:

Congrats to Aman, @leatherface, spacecat, Marshland and other Kiwis here!

Totally, have always been a fan of Williamson as a batsman but at the same time the guy is a tactical genious. He managed whatever resources he had to their maximum potential.

He is down to earth, humble and hardworking a great role model to have for any cricketer or professional.

This NZ team was demolished in India. Just goes to show you how bad Pakistan are right now.

Absolutely, Williamson showed he was a far better onfield captain than Sarfaraz and that has played a huge role in NZ winning this series and punching above their weight

Well played NZ. One of biggest victories in last many years.

Excellent performances from Williamson, Boult and others as well who chipped in when mattered.

Congrats to all the Newzealanders here. They played without Santner, their no 1 and experienced spinner, they played without their no 1 opener, yet they won in style.

Did you ever think NZ would be the first SENA nation to breach Fortress UAE?

What a turnaround!

Well done NZ.

Great win.

Australia would have whitewashed this side if they had Smith and Warner.

This team can only win if it bats first and against SENA batting second all they can do is compete until the 4th innings.

Yes not too surprising though I would expect SA to win in UAE first. NZ drew the series in UAE last time around as well so they always perform better than the likes of English and Aussies in UAE.

This breach of fortress has more to do with Misbah and Younis Khan retiring. I think many decent opposition teams will win in UAE unless the current approach of PCT changes.

England have been the unluckiest touring team in my view. They have lost 5 out of 6 matches, but apart from the second Test of the 2015 series, all the other games could have gone in their favour.

New Zealand played really well in the 2014 series as well, and we were lucky to play two Test series against South Africa. Both in 2010 and 2013, especially in 2013, I would have backed them to win the series if there was a third Test. Their batsmen and bowlers had adjusted and we were under the pump by the time the series ended.

Well played NZ. Excellent performances.
After NZ team was demolished in India recently, this win is historic in Asian condition.
True captain's knock who rose to the occasion.
William Somerville took three wickets , enjoying a brilliant debut.
The commitment, quality, mental strength or dynamism of NZ was awesome

I’m unable to digest how a non Asian team has beaten us here at the fortress. The two tosses have really helped New Zealand but this is sheer madness. There were practically only 3 batsmen in their team - Williamson, Nicholls, and Watling. The rest literally never showed up. Their bowling was bits and pieces. Boult bagged the top order, more due to the ineptness and zero caliber of our openers. But no way in the world should Patel, Somerville have got wickets. That’s just crazy. How did we end up gifting wickets to them?! I’m at loss of words.

2-1 to New Zealand in UAE.

Let that sink in. Unbearable pain and this will continue to haunt me for years to come.

There are 2 to 3 people who can play the innings that he did here. It's the knock of 2018 and is one of the best in the decade. Totally turned the match around and rallied his team mates including Nichols. Amazing player.

Stephen Fleming and Mcullum did the same, but Only Kane managed to create history because he is a better bat than both!

Its not easy to win in India for any SENA team but I think toss was also not their side IIRC.

We have the Rahul Dravid of this era. Such a great sportsmen and a great role model. NZ are blessed to have him.

I hope he hits 10,000 runs and 30 hundreds at least. I would have said 40 but NZ don't play enough tests for him to get that much.

He's a great role-model. Great off the field and a great batsmen and captain on it.

Congrats to NZ. Williamson led the team well and what an innings in the decider. My respect for him after this series has gone up even more.

Credit to his team and his country. Well done New Zealand.

Well done NZ. As a Pak fan a series loss hurts but it's a good advert for Test cricket if any away team manages a series win in foreign conditions, that creates rivalries and means future contests are more anticipated the next time they are played. Especially in this age of cricket where the home advantage has been ampilfied.

Pakistan have got some serious thinking to do.

Congrats to kiwis, managed to get outplayed in majority of two tests but still won both. Sign of a good team winning when not playing well. I thought before series kiwis would get a draw so them winning is no shock. They have peformed well and adapted to uae conditions before.

I can't believe it happened, had a lot of fortune, but man this team showed up big in the third Test.

Kane and Nicols served me humble pies.

Congrats to Kiwis. Started with 0-3, then 1-1 & ended with 2-1; which actually suggests if tourists are given longer time/series PAK's fortress would have crashed long, long back.

Great team effort led by arguably the best Captain, No. 3 & Test batsman in contemporary world. But, be ware Kiwis - Tigers are coming :(

I wonder why New Zealand are not touring Bangladesh for the last few years , next year it would be 6 years since a full tour of Bangladesh by New Zealand

Back to back series in FTP are scheduled like ABBA, not ABAB; hence Kiwis will be touring next 2 series after this one. It's good actually for both teams - 3 months before WC, better to play in Kiwi land than on our burnt mud.

Well deserved, they fought hard in the series and outplayed Pakistan when it mattered. Mentally strong team.

Yes well done Kiwis..I thought they were done for after the second test match but came back really well. As others has said, mentally strong team and something that this Pakistan team lacks.

Great victory and well deserved.

No one was expecting them to win the first Test and than Williamson turned it around when defeat again looked eminent at 60-4.

Safraz should be thoroughly ashamed of himself and what he has led his team to become.

I have a lot of respect for NZ players. I've had the pleasure of interviewing Kane Williamson, Trent Boult and Shane Bond - all really nice guys.

We have given New Zealand a good Christmas present:ma.

Congrats NZ fans.

Should be proud of their team.

Out of the non-sub continent teams, only two teams have been able to put up decent performances against us in the UAE. South Africa and NZ. South Africa drew their last two series. NZ drew their last series and now won this one.

Yes, had misbah and younis been playing this would have been a way different story, but that you could say that for any team (i.e. had sanga and jaya been playing Sri Lanka would be a much better team). Point is, Pakistan now has a lot of rebuilding to do. The potential is there, but the quality is no where near the calibre of Misbah-Younis. South Africa tour will be a brutal one.

It is a pleasant surprise indeed. After 8 months in the wilderness, I did not expect such a pleasant result. To be honest, it was a well-fought series and it could easily have been 2-1 the other way if Pakistani batters had kept their heads in the first test.

Massive result for NZ cricket really. Our cricket has steadly improved the last few years but away test series wins are super rare and should be savoured.
