Congrats Pakistan for a convincing series win with lots of Positives

Well Anything less than 2-0 would not have satisfied the fans.
So congrats from across the border.

Lot of Positives...
Hasan's comeback
Shaheen bowling good
Rizwan and faheem.

Off course not a perfect team yet, but this will give them lots of confidence and iron out the issues.

Congrats once again.

Beautiful performance. And this was a good test match today. SA did give a scare for a while.

Brilliant test match cricket going on these days.

What a performance!

Hopefully many more to come but Hassan Ali needs a special mention as does Rizwan!

Joyous times for Pakistan cricket!

Good comeback from Pakistan too. I thought South Africa had it in the bag when they were 3 wickets down.

Taking the new ball and bringing the seamers on did the trick.

Well played Pakistan

Congratulations guys.
Much needed victory at home.

SA from 241-4 to all out, good bowling by pak.

Saffers were struggling in BD as well when they toured last and they were smashed in SL too. But sure. If you want to credit Misbah ....

The fact that we are congratulating each other over beating a weak South African team at home shows how low the expectations are.

Honestly, I was not impressed with Pakistan’s performance in either Test. We do not look like a strong team even in home conditions.

The openers are completely non-existent, the middle-order is shaky, and the bowling attack does not look like it has enough mileage.

Shaheen and Yasir were the only two bowlers who impressed to a reasonable extent. Shaheen bowled proper Test match lengths and Yasir bowled really well in patches.

Nauman looks like someone who will be out of gas after 10 Tests and Hassan took wickets in this Test but he is just a white ball specialist.

He cannot bowl Test match lengths and he was going at 8 runs per over in his opening spell and 6 runs per over in the opening spell of his first innings.

He cannot build pressure on the opposition because runs are flowing whenever he bowls.

Shaheen is the only proper Test pacer in Pakistan at the moment because he restricts the run flow and forces the batsmen on the back-foot.

Overall, it was 5/10 performance by Pakistan. The same level of performance against the likes of England, Australia and New Zealand would result in a home defeat.

Pakistan were lucky that they were up against a disjointed, poorly led South African team that had no proper plan.

No team really deserved to win this series.

I'd add that the Pakistan fielding was decent. Better than SA. A number of run outs and good catching. A shame that the openers are poor with the bat because they are decent fielders.

Pakistan vs S Africa - 2nd test Player ratings

2nd Test versus South Africa - Pakistan Player ratings

My personal ratings for 2nd test for Pakistan. Feel free to comment and add yours:-

Abid Ali 1/10 - pretty poor with bat in both inns. Should be dropped and needs to work on technic and mental aspects of the gamr.

Imran Butt 2/10 - took some good catches in the field. Batting is not test standard needs to be dropped aswell.

Azhar Ali 3/10 - poor match with the bat in both inns. Got out lbw to left arm spin in both inns not a good sign.

Babar Azam 4.5/10 - good knock of 77 in 1st inns but played poor shot to give it away. Failed in second inns but was out to poor judgement vs left arm spin again really needs to improve here.

Fawad 4/10 - important 40 odd in 1st inns to bring pakistans inns back on track, then failed in 2nd inns.

Rizwan 9/10 - kept on the whole very well. Scratchy 1st inns where he played against his natural game and threw wicket away. Match winning and maiden test hundred. Class act.

Fahim 6/10 - vital runs with with bat in both inns. Needs to gain more potency with the ball to add to his control he provides.

Yasir 2/10 - primary job as bowler was garbage, back to bowling 1 bad ball an over on control and impotent. He did get some vital runs in the 2nd inns.

Naumam 4.5/10 - only 1 wicket in but offered control at one end so pacers could attack. Looked competent with the bat and unlucky not to get 50 in 2nd inns.

Shaheen 6/10 - bowls well with the new ball and crucial wickets in 2nd inns. Has to learn to bowl better with the old ball in these conditions. Probably needs a break from T20 series ahead and work loads need to be managed.

Hasan Ali 9.5/10 - 5 fors in both inns and 10 in match. Took crucial wickets all the time. Also had habit of picking up wickets in clusters quickly. Brilliant use of reverse swing, used 2nd new ball well. Good yorkers and slower balls. Man of match performance.

:)

What a performance!

Hopefully many more to come but Hassan Ali needs a special mention as does Rizwan!

Joyous times for Pakistan cricket!

I doubted them because of the failure to take 20 wickets but a great performance under real pressure on a flat wicket

Congrats pakistan. Indian fans like mamoon crying as usual.

Bhai kabhi to apne fellow country ke logon to celebrate karne diya kar.

A much needed confidence boost after disappointing away series. Great start to Babar's captaincy reign.

What a well fought and well deserved Win for Pak.

Good batting and bowling were rewarded. An incredible innings by Aiden Markram. What a beast. We could use an opener like him.

Hassan Ali reminding us all that he was once the #1 Odi bowler and it wasn't by accident.

Poor Babar Azam, what a captaincy debut.

Bowling came to the party in the 2 tests I was initially worried we wouldn't able to pick 20 wickets.

Well done nauman ali was brilliant at karachi

Glad hasan ali fired back what a performance an on song hasan ali is a match winner proper gangster.

Good to see afridi get some wickets

The only worry are the openers abid ali needs to be put out of his misery
But butt is a top fielder brilliant catching shame about his batting.

This is the humiliation we deserve, how dare we even dream of winning a series at home against a team we haven't won against in god knows how long, and then even think of celebrating. We need to get back to the wrist slitting asap

Well done to Pakistan and well deserved, dominated almost each and every session across both tests. A dominant strong performance. Brilliant. :akhtar

Finally team Pak can enjoy home advantage.

Hopefully, the COVID torture will end soon and even more teams will come visit us.

We prepare competitive tracks and offer consistent top order collapses as a gift :yk

Winning captain Babar Azam: "Thanks to South Africa for coming and playing competitive cricket. No real pressure as captain. When team successfully does the plans we decided, then you don't feel so much pressure. Shaheen's start, Hasan's comeback after one year, showed character. Outstanding from Hasan because he has awareness and took advantage of the experience of playing here. We keep trying new players, a combination of senior-junior. Our slip fielding was improved. We are trying to fix the little things. Confidence we get after winning against a good team is important. At one time, we thought the game could've gone either way when Markram and Bavuma were playing well. But we knew, one wicket and we can come back into the game again. And then we did that with the new ball."

Losing captain Quinton de Kock: "The first-innings deficit did play a big part. We lost the big moments in the game and that cost us. It's quite special to see Linde to come through after dislocating his finger. Showed big heart. It's painful at the moment, disappointment at losing. When we get back home, we'll have to look at our performances and improve on the way forward. Aiden had a question mark in the subcontinent. But the way he batted in the last two Test matches showed his fight, the pride he has in his performances."

Mohammad Rizwan is the Player of the Series. He says, "Basically when team planning happens and you do it well, then everything becomes easy. I got such plans from management, and tried to deliver. Wicketkeeping in Pakistan is difficult but the drills in practice helped me. In NZ you need to expect high balls, here low balls, so I practiced hard at this. Honestly, I go to bat in pressure time mostly, but I keep my faith in allah. Don't think about seam or swing, what is happening. So I forget about the pressure then and things become easy for me to play fearlessly. With stump mics (laughs) always on, I reduce my chatter these days. Being multilingual helps me communication with the pacers well too."

Hasan Ali is the Player of the Match for his ten-wicket haul. He says, "It was an important series since I was making a comeback, it's a dream for any player. Best thing was my team won the series with my performance. Mix of all aspects like confidence, line-length, fitness all played crucial role. I've become fitter and it's there for all to see. First-class cricket helped, nine games back to back. When you play domestic cricket you learn a lot. I got my rhythm from the domestic cricket."

I think everyone played their part besides the openers. Overall the middle order and lower middle order did well, however it must be said we are not great against the SA attack so any runs should be appreciated. Bowlers done great but I would want Shaheen taking a rest next series and indeed not play this t20 series either.

Fab win, Mubarak bro.

A really good win and fast bowlers taking 15 wickets in the second match was something which is another big positive to build upon and something if continues will help us in overseas conditions as well. Congrats!

Lol do you not get tired of saying the same old stuff again and again?

Shaheen has been poor. Has no business being in the test squad until he has a full season of FC under his belt. Doesn't really have the skills with the red ball yet as good as he is in white ball cricket. What Hasan Ali did today is what you want your pacers to do. Run through teams

Congratulations to Pakistan on a well deserved win. Clinical performance, and espec3today when they were under pressure, I thought Hasan Ali and Shaheen came back beautifully.

Enjoy folks, much needed series win.

My ratings for the series.

Nuaman is 7/10 for me. They all played their part, would really like to see Sajid Khan played next series, Imran Butt though what a slips catcher, can we afford to drop him? Can we forgive him and say you know what this was a tough bowling line up?

That as well against a respectable side, thanks for coming SA boys these memories will only live on because of you. Safe journey back for those only here for the tests and good luck to those in the t20s.

We have something to build with- Babar, Riz and Afridi give a good spine, we still need to sort out the openers, we need another seamer and build some depth in the middle order

pakistan is now ranked number 5.

Difference in ratings between number 4 and 5 is huge.

4 teams in tier 1
4 teams in tier 2

and then there is bangladesh.

The more Pakistani cricketers play at home, the more their performances will improve abroad. Its a game of confidence and such series wins should give good confidence to all the players. Congrats and wish you guys good luck for future series.

Outstanding win. South Africa looked like they would spring a surprise at certain points but overall Pakistan looked dominant for the better part of the series and always came back from tough situations. Hopefully we can put up similar performances against ENA when they tour next year.

Need to drop Imran. With him and Abid, we are playing with 9 players.

I don’t know catches win matches and good slips fielders are hard to come by, let him have some easy assignments for this year. WI will be a big test for him.

this is a good s.a. team with a decent spine. due to recent struggles south asia, team was under pressure even before it stepped on the field and made the same mistakes that pakistan did during recent tour of nz. pak played below potential due to mental pressure that is a result of a long period of underperformance in those conditions. ditto s.a. their fielding was much below their usual lofty standards and the reviews were atrocious as well. on top of that, you had an under-performing m/o whose results matched those of pak top order in nz. throw in a williamson instead of faf in s.a. line-up and the series results would likely be differently. conversely nz side without williamson would probably perform worse than s.a. did in this series.

during the series, s.a. had ascendency at critical times but failed to press their advantage. they will be better for the experience and come back a much tougher side. its also unlikely that players with calibre of qdk and rabada will perform poorly next time when they tor sub-continent. s.a. management will be rewarded if they keep faith in the core group which has age on its side. the same team would have been much more effective in nz or australia and its a shame the series against nz is not going ahead.

as for pakistan, i hope pcb realises that test cricket is foundation of all cricketing success. you succeed in tests and you get respect of big cricketing boards which will result in more bigger tours both home and away. t-20 might pay the bills for a while but without international success, t-20 format will lose appeal for fans and for sponsors. last few years have been bad for pak cricket due to poor management of resources by pcb. situation appears to be turning around and without proper planning, the opportunity will go abegging.

Unlike the previous few series where the innings ends as soon as we're 7 down, this time in both games we had crucial runs added to the total which played a huge part in swinging it towards Pakistan.

The tail made up for the openers and they'll need to for the foreseeable future while we have no openers.

Lets see what our neighbours do tomorrow. We done our bit to beat SA at home, now its India turn to do the same and draw this game.

I'd say four teams in tier 1, two teams in tier 2 & three teams in tier 3.

🇵🇰 & South Africa are much better than SL, WI & BAN but they are very faar behind BIG 3 & NZ.

Well said.

To be honest, Rabada had 0 impact. I don't know how many wickets he got but these were useless ones.

Maharaj was a crucial bowler, despite probably averaging more than Rabada.

Credit to Pak team the way they played.

You are talking about tiers as Cricket has 40 International teams playing. Maar Maar ke 12 teams hain unko bhi split kardo. Doesn’t make sense at all, its not Gora teams are coming to asia and winning it.

Every team enjoys its own home conditions and wins it convincingly. I want to see How NZL win in Pakistan.

Rabada is useless, his effort and determination level was zero in this series. Didnt bend his back once to help SA to win any matches. V poor attitude as well disappointed, missed Pollack, Nitni and Kallis dominating us at our own home.

Thank God for the result. Congratulations due for squeezing out the win.

At the end of the day nothing breeds confidence as much as winning. Winning inspires winning and if PAK are to string together any accomplishments they need to have some less than clinical performances go in their favour.

Far from the finished product unfortunately and a slightly better team could have tested the limits of their ability and resolve.

Far too many questions for the management and players to answer. Sounds like everything from captaincy to top order to bowlers need to be worked with.

If PAK are to prosper, they will need to stop making a habit of keeping games interesting by ceding the advantage every time they look like they have wrested it.

Good one for Rizwan, Faheem, Fawad, Hassan and Nauman. More will be expected of them going forward though but not sure how many of them will be longterm fixtures in the side.

Congratulations guys , due to timing unable watch much..hope it was great for fans to see the win in Pakistan!! many more to come.

Congrats to Pakistan on this series win. They looked in command right from the start of series. Rizwan looks like a future leader to me. Babar was disappointing overall. Hasan Ali has that X factor for sure and Pakistan should persist with him
SA well looked lost and without any plans for series , QDK does not have the energy to be a leader and should be relieved of duties soon

Congratulations guys , due to timing unable watch much..hope it was great for fans to see the win in Pakistan!! many more to come.

I fell asleep in that over the Markram wicket fell, wish I didn’t but just as well my bro in law messaged me saying we won.

MashAllah pulled it off and couldn’t be more thankful that the guys you mentioned pulled it off.

This is what cricket at home does for you. And this is what Pakistan missed for so many years. As I said before, I'm the happiest Indian to see cricket return to Pakistan. I desperately want teams like Australia, New Zealand, and England to tour Pakistan soon.

Congratulations to all Pakistani fans!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Overall, it was one of the worst Test series I have ever watched. I don’t recall the last time a team played so poorly to inflict a whitewash on the opposition.

Pakistan were really poor in the 2012 England series when they won 3-0, but this was even worse.

Pakistan was 5/10, but South Africa was 2/10.

Not sure what type of a clinical performance you were expecting from a team that has lost 3 test series in a row (Australia, England, and New Zealand).

No reasonably minded Pakistani fan was expecting perfection. We were expecting our team to show a fighting spirit and try to win these matches, which is what they did.
