What a legend, congrats to the man!

A beautiful sweep shot to get to the mark.

An ATG - I don't care what anyone says.

You can question the guys technique all you want, but the guy knows how to score runs and that's all that matters!

Legend!

Fittingly the first Pakistani to do it.

King Khan

A Pakistani Legend.

The Best Test bat Pakistan have produced.

Also one of the best match winning batsman the game of Test cricket has seen.

Greatest Pakistani Test Batsman.

Well done Younis Khan. You did it against so many odds.

Proud Son of Pakistan.

Hero.

Well done Legend.

10k runs is a huge achievement for any test batsman. Congratulations to Younis Khan, Pakistan's greatest test batsman!

Congratulations to one of the greatest of all time  well deserved, sorry I was a bit late to post here; was savouring the moment, one of the all time greatest moments in the history of Pakistan cricket! Younis will be terribly missed, thank you for your blood and sweat; you're the epitome and embodiment of Pakistan cricket at it's best, it couldn't happen to a nicer guy!

Chairman PCB,Chairman Executive Committee felicitates Younis Khan on completing 10,000 Test runs

Lahore-April 24, 2017: PCB Chairman Shaharyar M. Khan was all praise for Younis Khan’s service to Pakistan cricket and spoke highly of his prolific career.

Younis Khan became the first Pakistani and 13thbatsman in the world to score 10,000 Test runs. He achieved this milestone in the ongoing first Test match against West Indies at Kingston. He earlier in his career surpassed Javed Miandad’s 8,832 Test runs and became the highest run-getter for Pakistan.

“Younis Khan has been an excellent ambassador of Pakistan cricket. The number of records he has set in the recent past is something we as a nation can take great pride in.

“He is the only Pakistan batsman and Test cricketer in the world to score centuries in 11 countries across the world, the feat he achieved against Australia early this year.

“I congratulate him on rewriting the record book and hope he carries the form in the series to win Test series against West Indies”, concluded Chairman PCB.

Chairman Executive Committee Najam Aziz Sethi expressed the same thoughts for the legendary batsman. “Younis Khan has been a great servant to Pakistan’s cricket. He is a run machine for Pakistan Test team and continues to carry the burden of the Test team along with Test captain Misbah-ul-Haq for years now. I also congratulate him on completing 10,000 Test runs and making the country proud”.

Subhan Ahmad, COO also congratulated Younis, termed him as the backbone of Pakistan’s batting. Becoming the first Pakistan batsman to score 10000 Test runs was indeed a great achievement.”

Great achievement.

One of the very best Pakistan has produced without a doubt.

Congratulations Champ on reaching 10,000 runs!! You are truly the best ever from Pakistan...

Legend!

Only 13 players in the HISTORY of Test cricket have scored 10k. Lol if even that doesn't make you an ATG, then I don't know what will.

One of the greats of the game and a true ambassador and role model for aspiring cricketers! :14:

Take a bow YK - what an achievement!

congrats to YOUNIS for becoming the first PAKISTANI to climb the everest. however i doubt he is an overall ATG batsman because his ODI record is too weak for that claim

Massive!

Congrats to a Pakistani legend, and perhaps the greatest Pakistani Test batsman ever! :14:

Great servant of the nation.

Congratulations to the man who keeps working hard and making Pakistan proud.

Congratulations to the legendary Younis Khan.

Younis is the ultimate fighter. When he was in very poor form he still managed to somehow score big runs in one innings. When you're at your worst but still can produce results it shows your greatness in sport.

Congratulations Younis Khan, a great achievement.

Bangalore innings in 2005 was his career's turning point.

Congrats! I was planing to watch Younis achieve it live yesterday, but then fell asleep around 1 O' Clock. Anyways, terrific achievement. Don't know whether he's better than Miandad, but he is certainly better than all other batsmen Pak has produced till date.

Congrats to Pakistani legend, thank you Younis Khan!

His 4th inning performances definitely make him one of the best batsmen in cricket history.

Congratulations champ. Great achievement.

Ironically for a so called UAE bully, his best innings (Bangalore, Lords, Pallekele) have been away from UAE.

Zaheer Abbas was pretty good too.

Exactly and that too when he is past his prime as well! He'd have scored heavily in the key tours missed between 2009-2010, anyhow he has cemented his legacy as an all time great; congratulations indeed!

Great player. Probably the best batsman I have seen when it comes to rotating strike against spinners. I watched his Bangalore innings and this was most remarkable feature of his batting which almost all Pakistani batsmen lacked and very few Indian batsmen had. Even good batsmen against spin were dominating and could hit 4 at will, but couldn't match his skill of taking 1s and 2s. It was as if he was batting in ODIs. Since he was able to do the same at this age, it showed his skill, fitness and commitment towards his game.

Young Pakistani batsmen can learn from him the importance of singles and how to produce those consistently and how to take calculated risk to maximise the dominance over a bowler. His innings at Oval was prime example of that.

Agreed.

It was great seeing that moment live on TV. the 6th fastest too and the best conversion rate of the lot. Legend.

It's a shame. I was planning all day long. But the delay of start of yesterday's day of play really annoyed me. Still I was awake and watched the day's play till lunch break. After that I couldn't resist myself from sleeping.

I skipped a lecture at uni in order to listen to Sachin's retirement speech :mv

Congrats for Younis, arguably the final Pakistani to reach the 10K mark.

After a long time after GURU WASIM's era i had been waking all night to see a knock of any Pakistani legend. Hats of to him and feeling lucky to witness a history.

Nothing annoys me more than rain delaying the start of a match or interrupting it. The moment I woke up today morning, I logged onto Cricinfo to check out what happened. Gave me so much satisfaction when I found out that Younis not only reached 10K Test runs but also scored a fifty. Wish he weren't dismissed, because I'm watching the match right now live.

Is it really that late in Canada ? :afridi it was annoying for us as well, the guy went for a tea break on 9999 :))) :yk I had a lot of work to do it got delayed

Anyways, he still has quite a few innings left in this series and I hope he'll surely score some daddy hundreds in them. Nothing would please me more. I was disappointed when I read reports that he was quitting due to not being offered captaincy. But then again, once a fan always a fan. I quickly got over my disappointment and realized that this is my last chance of watching such a wonderful player play for the last time, a player whom I've loved, supported all my life.

I live in India. I was awake till around 1 O' Clock, but after that I went asleep, I don't even know when it happened. I woke up with the TV in my room still switched on this morning. TEN Sports is telecasting the series for us here in India.

Anyone remember that innings when YK was batting at 199 against India and Afridi ran him out and the champ just walked off with a smile on his face.

If I were in his shoes Afridi would have received a right phainti right there in the middle of the pitch.

Big thank you to the great Younis Khan for great batting and taking many splendid catches. For sure he is/was also one of our finest fielders as well. Apologise on behalf of Pak supporters who have not appreciated you for reasons beyond me,

KARACHI: Sindh Assembly Monday paid tremendous tributes to Pakistan Cricketer Younus Khan on reaching the scalp of 10,000 runs in Test Cricket.

Wasim Akram on TV

"Apart from a top-rungetter, Younis Khan is also a top team man" "He is the kind of a guy who has never given trouble to any captain"

"He always wanted to play cricket for Pakistan and that's what he did"

"If a youngster is looking for a role-model from the current crop of players then it has to be Younis Khan"

Pak cricket community hails Younis for 10000 runs milestone

Pakistan cricketing fraternity has lavished praise on former captain Younis Khan after he became the first player from the country to complete 10,000 Test runs.

Younis, who has announced that he will retire from international cricket after the three-match Test series in the Caribbean, reached the milestone on the third day of the first Test against the West Indies yesterday on way to his 58-run knock in Pakistan's first innings.

"I think Younis completing 10,000 Test runs is a historic moment for Pakistan cricket and there can be no better role model for world cricket than Younis," former Test captain Ramiz Raja said.

Former captain Rashid Latif, who played a significant role in fighting for Younis' Test debut in 2000, said he was delighted with the achievement of the batsman.

"No other player was more deserving of this milestone than Younis. I just hope that the Pakistan Cricket Board now takes full advantage of his experience even after his retirement," Latif said.

He said whatever little issues affected Younis' career were because he was a straightforward and honest man.

Enigmatic fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar said Younis is a thorough professional.

"He is born to be associated with cricket and the way he has remained committed to the game is a great example for youngsters to follow," Akhtar said.

He also urged the PCB to utilise Younis after his retirement.

Until Younis broke his record, Javed Miandad remained Pakistan's highest Test run-getter and Younis now also holds the record for most Test centuries (34) by a Pakistani batsman.

Chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq, under whose captaincy Younis produced some sterling performances, said that retirement was Younis' personal decision but it would take time to find a suitable replacement for him.

"He has always remained a great contributor to the national team and even when I was captain he was always upfront to face any challenge. The way he used to prepare himself for every match or net session is something our young cricketers need to follow as well if they want to progress in international cricket," Inzamam said.

Former captain and teammate Mohammad Yousuf added: "I think he has done the right thing in deciding to step down on a high and hopefully he has set the right example for others to follow. It was always a pleasure batting with him because he is a thorough professional."

Aleem Dar paying tribute to Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq :

"First of all I would like to congratulate Younis Khan for achieving this milestone of 10,000 runs"

"Its a great achievement for him and for Pakistan as well"

"I would like to wish him the best for his future and hope he continues to achieve more for Pakistan"

"Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan are big names of Pakistan cricket and their leaving us will create a vacuum which I hope and pray some able youngsters will fill very soon"

Younis Khan's batting approach since he reached the 10k milestone..

I don't know if you guys noticed but something has changed in YK since he has reached 10k runs in the 1st innings of the 1st test. I see a lack of application.

I know he has taken a dozen catches in the series, but his batting attitude looks different. He hardly gets a 50 and not a hundred, and that is what happened in the 1st test in the 1st innings. Scored a 50, reached 10k runs and got out on a flat track. In the 2nd innings he got out LBW in a strange way. May be I am thinking too much , but I don't think he will be scoring many runs in the remainder of this test series and If I was Misbah/Mickey, I would promote Sarfaraz above him to chase down the score in the 2nd innings...

Scenes! Incredible moment! One day we will also call him Mr. Hall of Fame :)

Absolutely amazing to see this man score those 10k runs - just an amazing feeling

People are going to remember him for having crazy numbers in Tests, I still standby the fact that from 2011 and onwards was his best years in Test cricket, he really piled on Test hundreds for fun.

High quality test player. It was really hard to understand why Pakistani fans dislike him given the fact that not many could carry the team the way he did post the retirement of Moyo.

He played the biggest role in not letting any team win against Pak in UAE and won a series in SL and drew one in England.
