Some players are a different beast during the peak of their career. Like Mitchell Starc and Virat Kohli. Both were considered the best players in their respective playing departments but now are not even a shadow of their prior self.

So in your opinion, which players are irrationally still clinging on with their national side despite being a liability for them and are doing so just to pile up further records for themselves, improve their career average through stat padding.

Kane is good in Tests. SMith and Kohli have regressed. Shakib for the first time look totally spent. Has to retire. Shan Masood is an enigma. He is starting his career at an age where people normally contemplate about retirement. Pujara/Rahane are yet to announce formal retirement. High time they call it quits. Bairstow may be from Tests.

From defending 10 runs in an over to getting smoked for plenty. Starc looks finished. First Rohit Sharma and now Livingstone.

To be fair, these are JAMODIs (meaningless bilaterals).

Starc is generally a big match player. Clutch player for final games in ICC tournaments.
He showed that in IPL but not sure about internationals in comparison Pat Cummins has filled the void created by his dup in form.

- Mitchell Starc and Steven Smith from ODIs and T20is.
- Kohli from tests
- Jadeja from ODIs
- Karunaratne and Southee from tests
- Shakib all formats
- Root from ODIs
- Shaheen from tests
- Iftikhar and Noman Ali from all formats
- Jason Holder all formats

Well ifti can still be useful in shorter format.

The first name that comes into mind is Sarfaraz Ahmed and the second one is Iftikhar Ahmed.

Australia: Steve Smith and Starc from Odi and t20.

England: Joe Root from whiteball although he only plays cups but shouldn't.

India: Rohit and kohli for the love of God

South Africa: No one atm

Pakistan: Sarfraz, Iftikhar, and basically anyone who's old and dusted now.

New Zealand: Williamson 100%, Southee as well.

Afghanistan: Maybe Nabi?

Sri lanka: Don't care

Bangladesh: Shakib

Even at 34 years of age. Starc was easily bowling 140+ kph. That's some commitment and fitness.

Without a shadow of doubt that loser sarfraz "the waterboy"Ahmed should be forced to retire.
He is such a leach. He uses media to get selected.
How can such a mediocre player has so much popularity. He is absolutely trash.

Chacha should be kicked out forever.

Mitchell starc has become very average as well he should consider retirement as well.

Starc shohld call it a day from limited overs. Goes for too many runs.

Kohli should call it a day in Test format. Not sure if he has motivation to score big anymore.

Rohit should call it a day in test for sure because he looks unfit to play long innings. Yes, in limited overs he did well by playing aggresively for 10 overs, but don't see stamina in him to play long innings.

Smith also seems to lost his ways and not sure if he will recover due to how he plays.

Now, gun players have way to surprise you, but opinion is based on how they are doing right now.

Ashwin, he is a great player but like John Cena, his time is up now.

Two wicketless innings in 12 years from 2011 to 2023. Three already in 2024.

Pakistani cricket culture doesn't understand retirement.

To them it's as new as cricket needing athlete like mindset & fitness.

Here is my list:

Rohit Sharma
Ravindra Jadeja
Temba Bavuma
Usman Khawaja
Mushfiqur Rahim
Imad Wasim
Angelo Matthews

I think Khawaja will hang around for some time given the problems Australia are having plugging the 2nd opener spot (Warner’s old spot). Once that’s resolved then they’ll be more comfortable imagining a world without him.

Rohit, Virat and Ashwin’s time is up. These three should announce their retirement soon.

Jadeja is doing fine, he is still best test all rounder going on currently.

Stokes should retire too, he has become embarrassingly poor.

Steve Smith and Mitchell Starc should also plan for their retirement.

Top players who are 32+ but still doing well:-

Ind - Jadeja
Eng - Root
NZ - Williamson
Aus - Lyon

These players should retire from international cricket:

Rohit
Kohli
Shakib
Starc
Iftikhar
Mushfiqur Rahim.

Players that should go:
Rohit Sharma
Kohli
Ashwin
Jadeja
Khawaja
Wood
Williamson
Southee

On deck:
Starc
Hazelwood
Smith
Lyon
Shami
Rahul

Kohli still has much more to deliver in ODIs.
I don't care how much he makes.

But he actually disrupts the balance of the team now a days. Team India have moved away from depending upon 1 superstar ideology. So accomodating him is like a sacrifice of the interest of the team.

From.Pakistan

Sharjeel Khan
AzamKhan
Shadab Khan
Sarfraz Ahmed
Imad Wasim
Muhammad Amir
Haris Rauf
Zahid Mehmood
Muhammad Abbas

For me Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are a burden that India is carrying unnecessarily. It would be better for them to take a back seat now and give young talent a chance.

Said Kohli will decline quickly once his peak is over back in 2019 on PP somewhere. Also said he'll roll back the clock for a year or so (Did it in 2023). Both predictions came true. It's hard to keep up the insane levels of intensity and performance Kohli did till 2019. He can't make his body and mind to believe they are still 25. He's been a great servant of Indian Team but needs to call it quits. Will still continue to score fifties in ODIs though.

They are so obvious options.

For Australia it's Steve Smith in white ball format. Outside Australia would be hardly of any
use

Unpopular opinion but I think Shaheen needs to retire. He’s become too ineffective over the past couple years and has lost his nation many matches.

The alternative is to persist with him like Amir and lose more important matches.

I am hoping Kohli plays more odi cricket so that this GOAT cricketer narrative ends.

He's a player who had his golden period in all formats and as such he's an atg of the game.

But he is not in the class of Viv or Sachin even as am odi batter.

Tbf to Kohli, he's superior to every single pakistani batter that has represented pakistan and he's still in the upper echelons of All time Greats.

But he's a few pegs below viv and Sachin. And dare I say it, he's a few pegs below Pointing as well.

Rohit Kohli needs to make space
Maybe ashwin too

Stokes from England

Sarfraz from Pakistan

Mushfiq Mahmudullah from Bangladesh

Shaheen needs to leave cricket for some time and work on his fitness. From beating batsman with pace he is now sitting and hoping for them to play a rash shot and he doesnt even acknowledge his problems. He is a better bowler than this and we all have seen this

Australia: Steve smith from Odi's.

England: Stokes

New Zealand: no one atm, they seem to be headed in the right direction. I'm not sure if Williamson has retired or not, but if he hasn't then defo Williamson.

Sa: No one atm

India: Kohli and Rohit should retire. Ashwin and Jadeja should be dropped as they are rubbish and will remain rubbish.

Pakistan: Babar from tests and t20, Rizwan from t20, shaheen from odi and test, Chacha from all formats. Also Nouman Ali might retire soon in a couple of years.

Sri lanka: I'm not sure if mattews has retired yet but if he hasn't defo angelo mattews.

Bangaldesh: No one but shanto needs to be stripped of captaincy and dropped.

Afghanistan: Nabi

The rest idc. I don't really care about wi cricket.

maybe maxwel needs to go first as he has hardly perform in ODIs since last 2 years.
Maxwell is a dangerous batter. Still cannot forget his one-man show in the World cup.

He is not consumed, he was just having a bad day against Pakistan in 1st ODI, otherwise the game would have been over early.

Abdullah Shafique. He started well but he is a dead weight now on the team.

The end of a phenomenal era is near.

No, he is finished

Rohit is finished, at least Test cricket is not the format he should count on and it's time for him to retire immediately.

For having a bad 2024? He has been on decline but he still managed a somewhat respectable average of 42 odd last year.
He could continue if he had been from subcontinent but for an Australian player the bar is always high

there is nobody waiting to take their spot. That is the problem for Australia. This was discussed to death. None of the australian analysts could come up with names that could replace him.

Kohli hit a match winning ton in Australia just recently and we want him to retire.

Meanwhile these are Rizwan’s recent Test scores:

0, 10, 41, 23, 25

Neither of these innings resulted in a win if in doubt.
