India is currently hosting Afghanistan U19s and South Africa U19s in a Quadrangular Series, and the final will be played between India A U19s and India B U19s. Prior to this, India had hosted a Quadrangular Series with Australia A, South Africa A and two India sides. Have always been awed by the insane depth that India have, but it’s not that alone, it’s how they are constantly having these series to maximise the potential of their talent pool by giving them more games and building a reserve army. Of course, it can’t be disregarded that India is arguably the biggest cricketing nation, and with 37 teams from 29 states playing Ranji each year, will always be ahead of the curve and no one can be expected to compete with that. Been ages since people have been calling for more Pakistan A and U19 tours, if that is not going to happen then perhaps this could help identifying and getting more game time for domestic prospects. I was wondering if Pakistan could introduce a 50-over knockout tournament, modelled on the Deodhar Tropy format, between an A, B and C side. It would definitely restore competitive with no one side running through the opposition as in the case of most Department v. Region games. Furthermore, it could allow Pakistan to tackle the issue of building bench strength for specific roles.
