Could Sami Aslam and Imam-ul-Haq be a threat to Ahmed Shehzad's spot in the team?

Sami Aslam has an excellent average wheras Imam was outstanding in the recent WC plus both have excellent techniques and can be regular openers in all three formats of the game
I personally feel they are the best openers in our country currently and they can be a threat to Shehzad's place in the side as soon as he is exposed outside the subcontinent
they can easily replace sharjeel and shehzad after 2015 WC or before that if we want to win it

dont have high hopes from them. none of them is anything special. and their techniques have a lot of flaws as contrary to what is mentioned in the OP. but u can always improve.

In my honest opinion it's very hard to predict who will do well.

The step up from national to international level in Pakistan cricket is at least huge.

There's no easy way to predict this except when they get to play.

They did outstandingly well in English conditions where majority of sub continent players had failed

But samis technique is far from good but still he has hunger to score runs like fawad alam whivh counts.

Sami Aslam is good but I do think that Babar Azam is a special talent. As far as Imam is concerned, don't think he will make it.

Shehzad is okay and will probably hang around for the next decade but will never be a top player. His talent is mediocre and his attitude stinks.

Sami has it in him to score big, construct innings and pace his inning.

He has also started playing FC and is extremely successful in domestics as well. He has it in him to face top bowlers.

He's a very bright prospect and I'm certain he'll turn out to be much better than Shehzad.

I think Sami is ready for the ODI side.

I hope that Sami, Babar Azam and Imam turn out to be special. However I do feel that Ahmed Shehzad has been doing well in T20 & ODI. He has scored runs in South Africa also (which is outside of subcontinent). We need to back Shehzad in these formats since he has already performed. As far as Test cricket goes, Shehzad has only played a handful of Tests so it is too early to discard him as a test player. We should back our players for 8-10 tests before we term them a failure, otherwise no new player will be able to establish himself.

Look at Misbah , Farhat and Fawad Alam's average. Not everyone with good domestic stats succeeds at international arena. Babar looks a player who can improve heaps if given opportunities. His hot selection is good, decent technique. Ideally he should open with Shehzad but i don't see him getting anywhere near the team before the WC. I have high hopes from him.

shehzad has only played 5 tests and he is already being written off! if he manages to get half the chances shafiq got he will have established himself in the test team! no questions on the ODi and T20 selection.

Shehzad is cut from a more dynamic cloth than Sami and Imam are. He is a different player.

Complement him, sure. Displace him, I doubt it.

Ahmed Shehzad is a very young player and will be around till at least 2027 world cup. he is not going to be dropped unless he does completely bad because he scores lots of centuries. Sharjeel Khan could be dropped

You can say Sami Aslam but not Imam ul Haq because he is not ready for international cricket. Imam ul Haq doesn't have guts to play in pressure situation. Sami Aslam batting technique somehow matches with saeed anwar...give him chance but after 2015 world cup now use sharjeel khan with shahzad give him proper chance don't waste him he is brave and talenetd i know a boy from backward area one day he will prove his talent.
