On which order do you identify with the above.

Pick 1,2,3. No shared ranking

In this forum we have a lot of British Pakistani folks so for them the ranking Would be among : Islam, British Pakistani (or if they prefer Punjabi, mirpuris etc), British

For me it's: Pakistan, Islam, Urdu speaking

Last edited:
1. Britain (80% of it)
2. Islam ( about 20% of it)
3. Pakistan (about 30% of it)

Truth is of course it's a mixture of all three.

As a kid it was:
1. India
2. Hindu
3. Malayali(Keralite)

But on growing up and getting more are more knowledge of how life works , nowadays it is :

1. Malayali/Keralite
2. Indian (Not hindustani or Bharat)
3. Hindu

1. Religion

2. Country

3. Ethnicity

India (Love the land all of it)
Hinduism/Dharmic religions (associated with the land so respect the same)
Ethnicity (Grew up in multiple regions, born somewhere,so is there but is probably of more importance to my parents than myself, although different ethnic cultures languages is what creates India and I respect all of them)

Britain is my country, all the unique people are my brethren, and to do good is my religion.

1.Country
2. Ethnicity somewhat but wouldn't be surprised if i end up getting married to a white girl.
3. Could care less about man made nonsense.

India as a country would be first..

I don't really care about people, ethnicities or religions.. For me everyone is the same and I might not like certain Indians but like certain people from other countries, religions etc..

Used to care about ethnicity and country but not any more. Once I came to the realization that a country is ultimately defined by it's people, my patriotism went away fast though I still can't shake off the emotional attachment even though I know it's beyond irrational. Ethnicity was somewhat important to me until a few years ago but it was our culture that turned me against my own people. As far as religion is concerned, to quote the great Mogul Khan, the Axe, "Axe has no time for such nonsense".

Religion - Don't Care. Although I do identity with Hindus culturally and have a soft spot for them. But that's about it all.

1. Hindu first. I feel more for a Pakistani Hindu than an Indian Muslim.
2. Indian. Feel the same for every non Hindu Indian.
3. Ethnicity. Only admire Rajputs and Pathans. Others are equal for me.

Religion and country both are equal. I love Pakistan with all my heart.

Ethnicity is not important to me.

Mountains eh.Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Banda Singh Bahadur a minhas as well?

Yes tons of Minhas in the pahari areas of Kashmir/Jammu.

Indeed he was:

Baba Banda Singh Bahadur was born in a Minhas Rajput family on October 16, 1670 at Rajouri in the Jammu region of Jammu and Kashmir, Northern India; he was named Lachman Dev. Wrestling, horseback riding, and hunting were his major hobbies. He was a very active and energetic child.

Ethnicity | Matters a lot.

-Daylight-

Country | No loyalty to any nation. (Secretly wish I were a British :D )

Religion
Country - Pakistan, followed by Canada
Ethnicity

Religion because Allah gave me the privilege of being Pakistan, and without Him that would not be possible. Without Him, Pakistan's existence or the existence of anything worldly would not have been possible.

Religion was very important before but nowadays not much.I m not religious enough but still religion is first for me.
Religion-50%

Ethnicity-50%

Country-0% anyway I don't living in here let's see what happens in few years.I don't feel connected to this country.I can't feel proud.

Country

Religion (soft corner for all Dharmic religions. Hindus/Sikhs/Jains/Buddhists are all brothers. Includes Pak, Nepali and Bangla Hindus and Buddhists.

Ethnicity - its value has fallen for me recently.

Ethnicity/Language - Obviously people associate themselves with others of same culture. And when it comes to culture, language/ethnicity play a major part.

Religion - Not religious even one bit. But have a soft corner for Hindus.

Country - Not patriotic enough, except for cricket.

Islam first and Islam shows med the right priorities.

And if I am not wrong we got a country because og Islam....

Etnicity will allways be there, whereever I go.

What you find in Islam that is against Humans ?

I asked this because for Humanity to prevail , there must be certain guidelines to be followed.

I found nothing and I am a Muslim.
But I have to say here that for some things I have my own kinda interpretation. I follow things which makes sense to me and pass and question things which dont. For example Muslims preach everywhere but dont allow non-Muslims to preach their religion and have strict laws for those who convert. Such type of things dont make much sense to me.

From my understanding religions came to make lives of human beings better but in current time lot of destruction is being done by religious people and their understanding of religion. Hardcore religious people want to prove that their version of religion is best and the only 'true path'. Literal interpretation of religion isnt helping in some cases.

I respect everyone no matter what their belief is unless they are not hurting me and others and arent spreading hate. I am a Muslim, do think there is a Creator, do find good in pillars of Islam and do find peace in remembering God. Religion for me is more of a personal thing. Dont like forcing others with my religious views. Everyone have their own journey in life and find peace in different things. Better to accept that and make this and make this world a beautiful place to live for 'everyone'.

I think the thread is interesting in a superficial way, but since Slog is asking with respect to British Pakistanis I think it's only fair to point out that the good thing about Britain is that you can be have all three: country, religion/no religion and ethnicity. Also in whatever dose of them suits you. It's what makes living in a multicultural society so great.

You want judge revelations with our intellect ?

I do not think that Islam forces anyone to believe , they will be judged one day By Allah himself . I guess you are confused between Islam and Muslims.

For me religion is the most important and Country and Ethnicity are equally as important.
