Maqsood was actually caught in two minds while trying to play that short arm jab. Should have committed to the shot. On the other hand, Phil Salt looks to be a proper hack, but he still committed to a shot on every single delivery.
It's not about as much 'talent' as it is about intent. The top order, like always, poked and prodded in the PP, instead of trying to rotate the strike. Yes, Fakhar was not fed balls in his area, but he still dead-batted deliveries that could have easily been converted to singles.
Given how this happens every so often, I won't be surprised if Imam and Fakhar go all guns blazing next game, and probably even do well. It's a bit of a pattern that PCT follows.
