It is Misbah's responsibility to finalise the selection and he keeps selecting Danish and Asif in the middle order.

Sarfaraz and Sharjeel might be mediocre but they have far, far more right to be playing international cricket than these two.

If he deserves the credit for win, he surely has to take the loss against Zim on the chin as well. He is the most powerful person with team as Babar is still young as captain.

Why are you comparing Rizwan's selection to Asif? Doesn't make sense considering one has proven himself to be a match winner while the other has proven himself to be an absolute joke
 
Misbah has been a disaster over the years as a player, captain and coach. He shouldn’t have been appointed in first place and once he was he shouldn’t have been given such a long rope. Losing to Sri Lanka at home no less then a whitewash against a weak Sri Lanka team. Following it up with brutal losses against New Zealand and Australia. An odi loss against Zimbabwe at home and we could have easily lost that series had Zimbabwe held their nerve in the first game. Today another loss against Zimbabwe who I believe were missing their main players and frankly we didn’t look like chasing this small target at all.

If all this wasn’t enough what is more frustrating is his consistent persistence with a player like Asif Ali who I am afraid will struggle to get into associate teams. In addition this treatment of the youngsters leave a lot to be desired. Haider Ali an opener being made to bat at 6. For a start he along with Abdullah Shafique and Nadeem Shah shouldn’t have been selected with so little experience.

They are the only other options but like i said, they have far more right to international cricket than those two do.

This decision to play two rookies who have already failed and looked terrible in the middle all throughout the previous series is squarely on Misbah's shoulders. There is no hiding from that.

Before Misbah was coach Rizwan had scored 2 centuries in the series against Australia at home. He was outperforming Sarfraz on all fronts and his selection post world cup was warranted. He proved himself by scoring 95 against Australia at home in the Gabba. He continued to prove himself by being our best test batsmen in England, New Zealand and South Africa.

I think you also forgot that the reason Rizwan is opening isn't because of Misbah's favouritism but because both first choice openers (Babar and Fakhar) were unavailable against NZ therefore Rizwan was forced to open and he proved himself to be our best option when we won us the 3rd t20. He continued to prove himself against South Africa both home and away and was the sole reason we won against Zimbabwe in the first T20. Now please explain how does that make him a Misbah project?

Compare that to Asif Ali who had exposed himself as a rubbish cricketer way before Misbah become coach. However Misbah selected him against Sri Lanka where he failed, selected him against Australia where he failed and has selected him 3 times in the span of 3 weeks, each time he has failed.

It's embarrassing to even put Rizwan's name next to the disgrace that is Asif
 
Misbah ul Haq - specialist in losing to Zimbabwe. Tests, ODIs, t20Is you name it. He has lost all of them against the mighty and gutsy zimbabwe.

One thing that the Misbah and Waqar combo can never ever get right since their playing days is the team balance. Always pick the wrong ppl due to some absurd logic. Glad his minions Shadab and Faheem couldn’t score runs when needed today because they really are not fit for that job. These two will never learn tho

Mickey's Pakistan were not this bad against a full strength England.

If Misbah doesn't get sacked after this series then he never will.
 
In Pakistan we love to make fake people heros and worship them. Misbah belongs to that category. Unfortunately he doesn't have any coaching skills. He just tries to act like he is such açha guy and people buy into his hype. He was always a mediocre cricketer and will never be a good coach. In fact he sacked a coach to become our coach. Such a sad state of affairs.

if pak continue to have coaches like Misbah and Waqar, then players like hafeez and malik would never wanna retire because they knew very well that these guys could build only a mediocre bunch every time they get an opportunity and they can always line up ready for their chances and wait like a vulture...

No one can touch him...and that's how he even entered into dual role of coach-selector
IK making sure his relative(Misbah) also makes some $$$ while he is in charge

Wasim Khan and Mani are just puppets of IK; they are there to make sure IK's plan and wishes gets implemented

I don’t think it’s that deep, Misbah was always going to be favoured ahead of others for the role of coach.

We are simply not good enough. It is a bitter fact but it is a fact.

Yes it has to do with the system and bla bla, but we have been talking about that for decades and decades. If Pakistan knew how to produce top players consistently, we would have done it by now.

The reality is that we don’t have a clue. We need to accept our status as a small team. Not every team can be top class. We should make peace with who we are.

You can blame Misbah all you want, but no one coach can turn these talentless players into world beaters.

Those who sing songs of Mickey, well he lost around 30 out of the last 40 ODIs that he coached including a 12 match losing streak.

It clearly showed that he failed to develop and nurture the players in spite of getting an early boost in his tenure because of the fluke CT.

All those who think we had a good World Cup need to get their heads checked. Losing half of your games and finishing with a negative NRR (third worst in the tournament) is not good.

Misbah will always be a villain for those who are deluded to the point where they can simply not accept the reality.

It’s better to keep him as the bowling coach, because I’m 100% sure if he gets sacked as the bowling coach, he’ll comeback as the team coach or worse, the chief selector in the next 3-4 years. It’s all about damage control at this point.

Nothing new in this world. Unfit people always hold the big position regardless their performances and people's complain or frustration.

How often would we be 30/3 in the first 10 overs in an ODI when Mickey was coach?

It brings back memories of the days when Misbah was captain, and we’d be going at 3 runs per over in the PP.
 
The coach is the main talking point but we're ignoring the ignorance of the 11 guys that are on the field. They are equally clueless, and cannot think on their feet for their life.

Maqsood tried to attack, he was technically not good enough and England relented with the short ball against him before his weakness against it gave away. It's easy to talk attack but hard to execute it without actual talent and skills

There's a reason why Pakistan aren't aggressive though. If we had the same intent as England, we'd still have lost the game and maybe by a lot more. This team lacks quality to compete with the best teams, simple as that.

Major and Hawk eye and whatnot are hoping for Pak to win a solitary win in the last game to give it's credit to Misbah.
And we lose that game, the blame will be on the players.

Previous ODI series were against weak SL and depleted SA sides.
 
Misbah has to be the worst thing happened to Pakistan. Curse to Salman Butt for fixing otherwise Pakistan would have been in a much better situation right now.

Maqsood was actually caught in two minds while trying to play that short arm jab. Should have committed to the shot. On the other hand, Phil Salt looks to be a proper hack, but he still committed to a shot on every single delivery.

It's not about as much 'talent' as it is about intent. The top order, like always, poked and prodded in the PP, instead of trying to rotate the strike. Yes, Fakhar was not fed balls in his area, but he still dead-batted deliveries that could have easily been converted to singles.

Given how this happens every so often, I won't be surprised if Imam and Fakhar go all guns blazing next game, and probably even do well. It's a bit of a pattern that PCT follows.

Get complacent -> Play overly defensively/lack intent -> Shocking loss -> Play very aggressively to "exact revenge" with lots of intent -> Win -> Get complacent...

Attack also needs training and practice together with having the intent and mindset.

We never had that intent and mindset. So we never seriously training for it.
Thank you Misbah for being a pouring rain of bovine excrement on this team for 15 years. Your mindset and approach to game has tricked down all the way, into the DNA of our cricket.
 
No one will sack Misbah because the coach sacker is coach himself.

Misbah got lucky in the SA tour, half of their squad went off to the IPL and even then we didn’t look very convincing in our wins. I thought his luck continued when England announced a new squad for the ODI series, but thankfully England C did us fans a favour.

If getting whitewashed by an England C team doesn’t get you sacked then nothing will.

Pakistan will only regress with this current management, the players may not be good but at least pick a balanced team. If they can’t get the team combinations right after 2 years then get someone else that can get the best out of the players.

Misbah needs to go NOW.

Sack Waqar too, at least he’ll get to see his family.
 
Misbah should be asked about the Pathetic fielding & fitness levels, zero game awareness & lack of planning. These are the aspects of the game a coach can improve. Pakistan would still lose with good coaches but at least they would improve the physical levels of the players and the overall fielding standards.
(Embarrassing that Pakistan keeps on picking overweight hacks even in this modern age. It is apparent that Pakistan gives very little importance to the player fitness.)

I've been a supporter of IK, and will be in the future.
He is after all a human and he is bound to make mistakes.
His mistakes and short coming in his personal life are none of my concern.

However, two incidents kinda irk me.

First, when IK used his influence to get Zakir Khan hired by PCB about 20 or 25 years ago. And to this date, that leech is sucking on PCB's finance, payroll and perks with no significant achievements. Nothing! Zilch!

(Wasim Akram did it too, by having his brother Nadeem Akram hired into PCB but I guess he didn't last long, and went on to setup his own betting and bookmaking den).

And second, Imran's wrong judgement on Misbah.
It's totally mind boggling that Imran's playing style is at 180 angle different than Misbah, yet IK thought Misbah's approach to the game was IK's vision. How the heck is that even possible? I can't figure it out.
 
Don’t know whether to laugh or cry. This isn’t the lowest I have seen this team in the last 2 decades, but it has to be the most unprofessional I have ever seen it to be.

Australia will do it too and India already is looking to field 2-3 sides at one time. Misbah deserves the hate and criticism coming his way. Why did he ever put his name in the hat for the job? I understand he may have been touted by Imran Khan, but he should have simply refused the idea and just humbly declined!

Misbah should have been made team manager/ communication manager (Working FT from Pakistan only)
Our ex cricketers are worst, they still live in their past and then creates a hell of a toxic environment in dressing room ...

Ex cricketers should only be hired at lowest level (where hard work is needed , not even in U19 or A team) All these 3 should come under Head coach of Pakistan (Who will be assisted by an associate coach, and this associate coach travels with U19 and A teams)

Because he is the only coach who can take money without caring for what people say about him. He was already used to it in his playing days so why be bothered by that now? Who wouldn’t give to get free money like this. Misbah is a smart business man.
