Usman Salahuddin, during an interview with local media, showed interest in playing for Pakistan again and hoped selectors would give him a fair shot:
"If you look at my stats from the past 4-5 years, I've scored between 5000 to 6000 runs. If performance is the criterion, then I'm performing well. If you speak to anyone in the domestic circuit, no one would say that Usman Salahuddin doesn't deserve a call-up for the Test team."
"I got a chance in second Test against England in Leeds 2018 ,when Babar Azam got injured in 1st Test at Lords. After that I was with the team for the next 3-4 series. Then suddenly, I was dropped from the team."
"The reason behind not getting selected, in my opinion, is favoritism. Each player has different criteria for selection. I don't want to mention names, but some players get 20-30 chances, while players like me get only one chance and then get dropped."
"Players like us, who are not favored by selectors, have only the option to play domestic cricket. There are options in the USA and England, but the dream is to play for Pakistan."
"I play more shots like Mohammad Yousuf and Younis Khan. I'm this type of player. Currently i have good form in the longer format, so I deserve to play Test cricket for Pakistan."
"As I also play all formats, I would say I'm not just a Test player. In Pakistan, we put tags on cricketers, like he is a Test player and that is a T20 player. This is not the right thing; a player should be analyzed through his stats."
