Cricketers turning to YouTube — just a passing trend or the future of fan engagement? Players like AB de Villiers, Ravi Ashwin, Ramiz Raja, Aakash Chopra and many more are all on the platform now, sharing their thoughts and insights. Some break down the game, others share personal stories and some just talk cricket in their own way. So who do you think is the best cricketer-turned-YouTuber?

Let’s debate! What do you think about cricketers running their own channels?

Would say ashwin and his buddy pdogg
For unbiased analysis.

Not too much about tactical nous but just in general about the game, selections and learning about players potential etc. also pitches etc

Apart from ashwin, I don’t mind listening to jarred kimber. He is decent ish. He uses lots of stats and data.

Ashwin has a good channel and I enjoy watching his analysis because he is a knowledgeable fan who watches alot of cricket. But because alot of his videos are in Tamil, it can be a bit annoying to constantly read subtitles on a YouTube video. I can do it for foreign-language films, but YouTube videos are a step too far for me.

While they are not cricketers, Ahmer Naqvi and Osman Samiuddin have a great podcast called Batta Fast that I enjoy listening to. Jarrod Kimber also has a good channel called 'Good Areas' where he does alot of data-driven analysis.

Most cricketers are clowns who are just trying to cash off their name value, rather than produce any sort of interesting content. So you're better off following cricket journalists/analysts who approach content creation seriously.

Best unbiased analysis is done by Salman Butt , at least from Pakistan.
Haahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahhaahahahahahahahahahahahhaahhaahhaahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahhaahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahshahahhaahahahahahahahahahshhahahaahahhaahwhhwshahwhhashahahahahahahahshshahahahahahwhwhwhahahahahahahahahahahhwhw

I Don't listen to anyone every one of them are biased they are only there to make money. I have more sense than these youtubers/cricketers

Wasay and Iffi are excellent in sniffing out dirty playing politics in sub continent cricket.

Wasay recons Rizwan chose to bat first the other day in an attempt for Babar to score a ton during the day time without pressure. Never thought of it like that tbh,

These guys read Rizwan’s snake moves better than I do.

None of them are any good.

I just enjoy The Pavillion show whenever an ICC tournament is running. Used to watch it on youtube if I missed it.

Would love to watch Misbah having his own channel, guy talks alot of sense when it comes to cricket. His analysis on spinners that used to bowl carrom bowl was very insightful

A guy who watches Wasay and Ifti as a source of info and thinks they are cricket experts, shouldnt really be talking.
Wasay and Iffi fart more cricket truth than Misbah Baddiyanat shakhs!

From cricketers I find myself regularly tuning into the Sky podcast even if I don't care much about the subject as the back and forth between Nasser and Atherton keeps it entertaining. However the best podcasts are generally from fans.

Many cricketers don't have the same passion as fans - for them it's just a job. You can tell some of them were simply talented high school jocks who never grew up collecting the magazines or watching the old classics on YouTube like we did. Some of them barely recall their own careers.

Jarrod Kimber's various podcasts are terrific. He lives and breathes cricket and its history 24/7. He'll follow even the Associate nations and give a great rundown of their strengths/weaknesses.

The Caribbean Cricket Podcast is a real labour of love hosted by two British West Indians. It's the epitome of a low budget production but have an impressive guest list and interact brilliantly with fans.

The Final Word podcast with Adam Collins and Geoff Lemon is also a strong recommend. Both are proper journos who do their research. Their knowledge of cricket around the world is markedly better than most Australian commentators.

The most overrated is The Grade Cricketer. If you want infantile humour then these guys are for you. They're like the 15 year olds who've discovered dick jokes. Their subscriber base and guest list is disproportionate to the quality of content.

Misbah is an ex cricketer who is a Pakistan Hall of famer. While Wasay and Ifti are two guys who look at twitter trends and use that as their info for source.

You just exposed yourself here by accepting that your source of info is wasey and ifti

Thats like Joshialla finally admitting Arnab Goswami is his main source of news.

And your source of inspiration is Ajmal Kasab

In my normal state as a cricket fan I quite enjoy Adam Gilchrist-Michael Vaughan podcast.

When Bharat is winning and I want to feel flattered, then i watch everything the Pakistani YouTube has to offer. Nothing feels better than hearing flattery of Bharat from the mouth of Pakistani YouTubers lol.

When Pakistan loses, Iffy & Wasey followed by Ahmed Shehzad followed by Caught Behind are a must watch.

Not sure if they do much on Youtube but for me it's Nasser Hussain and Michael Atherton. I just think it's wild that anyone would prefer to watch The Pavilion over this duo.

Anil chaudry, the indian umpire, runs a very good facebook page. Probably the only umpire doing this.

So anytime there is a controversey or a controversial decision he gives his input on it on his videos. Than he also informs viewers of new rules in cricket or understanding some complicated rules of cricket

What about Tailenders and ZeroDucksGiven, amongst UK podcasts ? Good mix of humour and sport although .. they can get tiresome occasionally.

Batta Fast is brilliant; a shame more people don’t view it — two guys who know the game and can talk eloquently about it.
I wouldn’t waste time on ex-player shows apart from Ashwin’s which is actually very good.

Hussain and Atherton on the Sky pod/you tube is also good value

Would love to watch Misbah having his own channel, guy talks alot of sense when it comes to cricket
A certified Jahaaz who statistically argues Babar and Rizwan are better T20 openers than Fakhar. Such people do not deserve the tag “expert” by their names.

This Jahaaz also had whiteball/T20 batting tips for Jason Roy as well.

That’s like Abu Diaby having midfield tips for Andre Pirlo

I watch them all tbh.. they provide a lot of content mostly own opinions but nobody right. I do tend to favour Caught behind due the longevity and doc creating own channel after PTV fiasco… sort to day true Game on hai on a daily dose!

I use to like Ali but he has become very bitter lately and too negative at all times.

Pro Sports are quite good and talk a lot sense which the young folk can certainly relate to - quite westernised and no sensationalism - trying to bring Grade A sports content - what ever that may be 😀

Backward point - don’t really listen to them! Can’t grow to them! Seem to be trying tho!

Providing best Match day content nobody can beat BBN with Eijaz Bakhri or PAK Tv with Sana Ullah. Both of them do a fab job chasing the team to all corners and capturing which ever angle they can get.

Content and opinion wise BBN has ‘no sir (head) no per (feet), the guy changes as per feeling and result.. very click bait orientated.

Sana Ullah is more of a true journalist style, keeps a respectable demeanour all round but can become a bit too biased at times but that’s his style.

Honourable mentions to complete the list..

Sports Yaari- if you like to see some comedy from the neighbours!

Do have a lot of content and Gold during Indian live events. Nice to see PAK team proving them wrong.

Ahmed Shehzad has found his new best hobby. Best for us, his 20 minute cameo turned to 20 min short clip - with his best performance at talking on stage 😂.

Wasay and Iffi are one of a kind. Loads of nonessential stuff with hint of gems included.

Cricketers!

Kamran Akmal - humbly doing his job and was one of the first few. Doesn’t jibber on for too long and gets his view across.

Sohaib Maqsood - A very recent addition compared some of the others. Seems to be also lost too much in past but is trying to bring his best views it seems.

Cricket Shows!

Har Lamba Purjosh - A family favourite that lightens the mood in defeat and gives an analysis on the game. Watched since inception.

Harna Mana Hai - started since last few years and is another show where many ex cricketers come with opnion a la famous Razzaq view on captaincy debate and then choice later as selector’ gave a gem 💎 so far.

The Pavilion- usually during ICC tournaments with a list ex PAK cricketers, apart from Wahab all captains. Good pre and post match show!

Think covered them all but above all stands our own PakPassion !

Wanna watch comical stuff, watch Ahmed Shahzad.

Ashwin produces good stuff IMO..

I watch Caught Behind (Rashid Latif and Noman Niaz).
Probably the second worst after that nobody Tanveer.

The only two good cricketing youtube channels imo are non players.

1) Wassay Habib - the legendary duo, the best in the game. Full entertainment and superb analysis. The founders of many funny name of cricketers as well. :ba

2) Furqan bhatti - hes good, but does a lot of over-acting which is annoying. But his cricketing views are generally good.

From across the border, i feel Sports Yaari and Sports Tak are great for entertainment value. Sports Yaari gives better cricketing opinion than Sports Tak which is infamous for konsa front foot, abbreviation of BGT 😂😂 and many more.

I also feel the Yaari guy is unbiased as compared to Vikrant who is on Rohit’s payroll.

Both leave no chance of hating on Pakistan but Yaari still has a more balanced panel with characters like Cobra, Priyanchu, and Cricket ka CarryMinati.

I dont like Ashwin, hes a fraud, and a pretender. I just find his personality very off putting.

Also Mohsin 2.0 is a good small channel, but i stopped following them after they cooked fake news about India coming to Pakistan for CT. But its enjoyable, good alternative when you dont have a fresh episode of Wassay and Iffi :yk

A guy who watches Wasay and Ifti as a source of info and thinks they are cricket experts, shouldnt really be talking.
That is a very unfair assessment, major shb.

Wassay and Iffi are the ones that started the anti Saya movement when people did not even know about Saya group. They are the ones that started blackpilling Pakistanis about Babar being a pro stat padder. They got a lot of hate and abuse for that. I was also one of them back in the day and hated them until i got blackpilled and saw the light.

But 90% of what they have said so far has proven right. They have always been ahead of time. Of course they suck up to India more than required whenever India wins, thats my only complaint against them. Otherwise they also bash India when required as well.

All in all, i think no one does it better than them on cricketing circle on youtube.

Haahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahhaahahahahahahahahahahahhaahhaahhaahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahhaahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahshahahhaahahahahahahahahahshhahahaahahhaahwhhwshahwhhashahahahahahahahshshahahahahahwhwhwhahahahahahahahahahahhwhw

Can you elaborate , what is funny there ?

Sports taak main person Vikrant is not biased against Pakistan.

Iffi and Wasay are trolls. I view them as entertainers than analysists or sensible fans. They present themselves as work of fiction. Which is fine cause everyone is entitled to run a channel however they want.

Batta Fast is pretty niche. Plus they are inconsistent. Still good.

I use to like Ali but he has become very bitter lately and too negative at all times.
Tried watching him but couldn't. He becomes an almost like a cynical critic. Quite negative at times too. Plus the important thing that put me off is his unwillingness to accept the fact that he could be wrong.

Surprisingly Sawera talks more sense than him about Cricket.

He’s a cool bloke actually and has given a lot of interesting stories we weren’t aware of.

But rana has admitted he uses them as his source of info.

Two guys who are not cricketers spread fake news and apprently these are @Rana favourite "analyst".

Like a guy who comes on a show in his banyan is someone who rana watches for info on cricket

Thanks for clarifying. I thought thread was about cricketers with youtube channels not just any laloo panjoos.

Khair we know he will support anyone that speaks against Rizwan, nothing new there

Of course Iffi and Wasay are trolls for those who’s SNGPL agenda becomes irrelevant

What exactly does Ahmed Shahzad say that is incorrect?

Maybe you guys will rate someone like Azhar Ali as a top analyst if he says exactly the same things Shahzad says?
This thread has really exposed you.

You dont care about logic. Than again someone who thinks a cricket show where a guy called Ifti does a show in his banyan is a cricket expert, what more can i say.

Oh my God I’ve been exposed because Major thinks so…

No clue about youtube but I switched jobs 6 months back and got hired by Tiktok/Bytedance (Sydney Branch), for Tiktok live, i got a taste of how the algorithm works.

The tiktok algorithm isn't as unbiased as people think aka the algorithm only showing you content that you prefer to watch.

They deliberately use the platform to promote their own countries biased propaganda with clickbait titles and false news about other countries which is one of the reasons why USA wants it banned as well as data selling and usage piracy related concerns.

I'm 100% sure youtube does the same thing, because Viral click bait content which is false but entertaining makes both platforms vastly successful and gets more viewers, that and Top tier influences as well who do their own thing and aren't related.

I wouldn't be surprised if Youtube's Algorithm promotes these click bait channels more then authentic ones to the Pakistan market because it generates more ad revenue and gets the creator more cash.

Very tough love for Misbah since deapite my issues with Misbah, He doesnt spread fake news and is credible but his channel won't be promoted like shehzad's channel as for youtube, it's gained an audience who enjoy rants and negative remarks. Hence shehzad can clickbait.

Although shehzad does somewhat speak the truth at times, but he lies alot as well.

Shehzad was right about babar and rizzu. He has been wrong about other things though such as PSL drafts but then he covered it up by claiming it was a prediction later on despite claiming he knew it earlier due to leaks.

He sometimes tells the truth and sometimes lies for clickbait and extra ad revenue.

@Kianig89 loves Samaa TV cricket analysis by Sawera Pasha and Hafiz Muhammad Imran, with their expert cricket panel of Atta ur Rehman and Mohammad Nazir

Very credible sauces

Ironically it's you who know the complete crew details of this show , I'm not a regular follower.

Waiting for 3 Scorpions show :wahab :imad :amir

Muhammad Nazir and Atta ur Rehman will go hard at anyone who criticises Babar and Rizwan in their Punjabi pendu Urdu

be careful with this information when you are in Pakistan. You could be kidnapped and asked to... "yaara channel boost karwadey" :yk

Hahah ifit does it all for views, there show has to be put on low volume just to bear!

God forbid you put that on when we lose.
