Current Indian Test team vs Sourav Ganguly's team in Tests - Who would win?

Considering a test match series of 3/5 test matches between current team and Dada's team, what you think should be the result?
I think in 3 match series , current team will be whitewashed. If 5 tests , result should be 3-1 in favour of Dada's team.
Current team will be equal in asian coditions, with slight advantage to Ganguly team for batting lineup they had.
Outside subcontinent, current team will get destroyed by bowling attack of Zack, Shrinath, Shreesanth, Kumble ,Bhajji etc.and Dada's batting lineup to do well against Virat's bowling unit.

Ganguly's team, because current Indian batting is pretty mediocre. Ganguly's team had Harbhajan, Kumble and Zaheer who were all decent bowlers.

Dhoni’s 2008-11 was hands down the greatest Indian team. They just had the right balance of talent and experience. Besides most players were in form during the period so as a collective unit they were able to deliver more often than not. Zaheer was one of the best in the world at his peak and that for an Indian team was a huge bonus. We have rarely had star fast bowlers who held their own.


Ganguly’s team was nice but while he paired noobs like Aakash Chopra with Sehwag, Dhoni had the services of a much better Gautam Gambhir.

While Ganguly played dozens of useless wicket keepers, Dhoni at his peek was a fine lower order test batsman in all conditions. His counter attacking knocks in England, West Indies and many countries I still remember fondly. Ganguly never had that luxury.

I think Ganguly was the better captain overall. He had Kumble and Bhajji at peak while I think Indian spin attack was at its worst under Dhoni.

Pace attack wise both were equal.



Let’s talk about the current team. Kohli has by far the worst batting line up for tests. His pace attack has more options but he has no star bowler. Dhoni had Zaheer. Kohli has revived spin. He probably has the best spin attack since India’s golden age of spin quartet.

It would be a competitive series in home conditions.
Pujara+Kohli are as good as Dravid+SRT at home.
Ashwin+Jadeja are equal to Kumble-Bhajji pairing and offer more tail runs

But biggest difference maker would be Sehwag up top crashing runs at 75-80 S/R and 50+ avg. Ganguly's team also had the better insurance batsman at 5 in VVS for home conditions
