Very happy for South African bros for finally finding a test class spinner, think they've gotten there before other non Asian teams like England and Australia who are still struggling for a good spinner.

Looks like a very disciplined kid and also has the right tools to be a successful spinner.

Has been spinning webs around Indian batsmen all day, I reckon one session with someone like Saqlain could help him improve a lot.

Seems as if Ashwin might find some competition in this test after all.

Has a lot of weight on his shoulders this game to salvage South Africa's reputation as a test team.

He is very accurate and not afraid of giving some flight, but let him play 10-15 tests before we start calling him world class.

Don't rate him at all. India just played poorly. No world class material.

He'll be banned soon enough, don't worry. Indian pitches nowadays make Elgar look like Warne.

Helpful pitch and playing a team that struggles with spin so bit early to judge.

Proteas spinner Dane Piedt has ended his South African cricketing career and will relocate to the United States of America.

Piedt took to Twitter on Friday and revealed that he has signed a deal to play professional cricket in the States.

The 30-year-old is expected to compete in the new Minor League Cricket T20 tournament, which sees 22 teams battle in a 9-week season.

Last year October, Piedt was recalled to the national set-up for the Proteas' three-match Test series against India after a three-year long absence.

He featured in two Tests in India and could only manage two wickets as the Proteas' suffered a 3-0 whitewash.

Piedt, who made his Proteas debut in 2014, played 9 Tests for South Africa, ending on 26 wickets.

This also brings an end to his 10-year career with his franchise, the Cape Cobras.

Piedt, who captained the Cobras, was the leading wicket-taker (52) in the 2018/19 4-Day Franchise Series, which saw him pick up two awards at last year's Cricket South Africa awards.

"Never easy leaving. But I love every second, trophies won and life-long friendships made," wrote Piedt on Twitter.

Another promising career ends prematurely. Something is seriously wrong with South African cricket.

He was not in SA’s plans anyway, and he looks like a really mediocre limited overs spinner.

things must really be looking bleak if he gave up his first class career for a league in the usa.

It might also have something to do with how the situation is in South Africa and the direction is heading especially thinking of the amount of crime and safety. I have many friends in South Africa and have been there a couple of times. I am seeing more and more looking towards Europe, Australia or America for a better and more safer future, even if they do have big and successful businesses in South Africa.

If he was a West Indian cricketer you would see some of our resident white posters go on about how they only care about money and not their "country" however they're gonna celebrate this because "poor hardworking" white South African/Zimbabwean players need to "provide" for the families lol. It's funny how in the cricketing world we let them push this narrative.

Interesting move, must say. Atleast its not a kolpak deal and he still harbours to play international cricket.
