I agree with the opinions that a player shouldnt be selected after one good season and process should improve. Problem is that guys like Khushdil Shah and Iftikhar Ahmed have unearthly List A records based upon consistent performances but, unfortunately they also couldn’t click. Surprisingly it wasnt like they got exposed by extraordinary research of opposition, they just couldn’t even hit balls in their arcs which they would dispatch 9/10 times in domestic cricket and sometimes even against better bowlers as well in comparison to some they faced.

The criteria mentioned regarding not getting player in after one good season still stands and should be implemented to get the process right. However, at the same time the issue with even some consistent performers is that they are mentally struggling to adapt to international level so that is something to be worked upon. Whenever a player is going to come at no 5 or 6 in T20 cricket or sometime even in ODI cricket the pressure is going to be on, so that mental block of some players needs to be worked upon as the way they have been lacking confidence and their overall poor body language is not going to work.

You're doing Iftikhar a disservice by grouping him with Khusdhil. Khushdil has embarassed nearly every time he has gone out on the field in Pakistan colors. But Iftikhar did click in T20Is and was our best batsman in Australia not too long. He didn't get much time in the middle when he batted after that and had one bad series against South Africa after which he was dropped. In ODIs he has played all of 7 games, in which he has 3 not outs and was similarly dropped after a couple of bad games against Zimbabwe.

That is not at all a fair chance given to him. Especially considering his outstanding List A numbers and the fact that he has clicked on the international stage for Pakistan on a handful of occasions .

No one is suggesting Danish to be the solution nor does Danish have good domestic stats. He just has 1 good season and should not have been in the team in the first-place.
That being said, it’s too soon to write off ANY player after a few bad performances. Players work hard, develop themselves and everyone is capable of transforming themselves.
Imran Khan is the greatest example who started as a below-average player, worked hard and TRANSFORMED into a world-class player.
You can’t right off a 25 year debutant who might come back stronger and I hope so.

Imran was a different breed to these guys. International cricket shouldn't really be the platform where players can develop themselves when they are medicore. They need to hit the ground running and perform. It is also unfair on the player to expect too much when they don't have the capability at that instance. Ofcourse, we need to have a system where players who have been dropped are re-trained so that their weaknesses are ironed out so that they can potentially make a come back after domestic performance and not be left in the wilderness for years.

A pretty fun and entertaining knock. But my opinion on him simply won't change until he plays these kind of knocks on the international stage.

Guys like Asif Ali, Husain Talat and Khushdil Shah have played far better and more impactful knocks in the PSL, against far more threatening bowling attacks than a second string QG attack. And we saw how they did for Pakistan

Credit to the KK bowlers in those final 5 overs or so but again the fielding was beyond garbage.

They bowled well. But you just don't deserve to win when you drop multiple simple catches at such crunch moments of the game.

Very true, hope this puts an end to Danish Aziz's chapter for a while. He had so much potential but couldn't play express pace to save his life. A guy like him will get chewed up against Rabada, Nortje, Bumrah, Starc and Cummins in the t20 cup.

Bro Bumrah, Starc, Cummins are a long way ahead. He couldn't handle rookie Zimbabwean medium-pacers. I don't know how people can, in good conscience, advocate selecting this guy after the way he embarrassed himself in Africa.

I'm glad for once i didn't see him smiling after that embarrassment yesterday, shukr hai tori shurrum ayi hai. He did justify his selection in my view, but disappointed me with not snatching his chances and that to against a timid Zimbabwe, he has himself to blame and not the selectors in my view.
