Unfortunate times for the Muslims in UK, racists will have a free reign.

Expect a rise in Islamophobia.

Some issues but Ethnic minorities esp Asians have been here too long to have fear .

Stupid scaremongering by Mehdi

Lol...

So which is fake news?

On another note a prominent Pakistani Lord hosted a dinner in east london for Pakistani Conservatives which had Johnson attending and giving a speech.

Live through the 70’s and 80’s and rejoice in what we have here in the UK

Islamaphobia hasnt changed much in the last few years and will exist till the end..But British Muslims also need to look at themselves and see what future they want for their children. Are we going to continue to raise a generation of weed swigging future take away workers?? or will we at least give them some hope?

Why have you refenced your opinion to british muslims? Theres over 3 million muslims in the uk, are you claiming that they are all druggies and work in takeaways?
Why dont you reference you opinion correctly, have you got something to hide?

Someone should tell hasan that boris has a pakistani heritage chancellor and an indian heritage home secretary.
Things will be pretty much the same.

With the brexit closing on all door of economical for UK, time for British Pakistanis to migrate to Canada. We are outnumbered by Indians at this moment. 😕

It won’t be that bad.

Discrimination has been for a while in West.

So that doesn’t matter.

And we know that the anti-Islam narrative makes it easier to gain support... but once the ruling party comes to power - nothing happens.

Trump did it too if I’m not wrong.

I haven't really noticed any difference to now, even with the dog whistle headlines the tabloids run. But then I am not overtly Muslim looking, I don't walk around with a skull cap and shalwar kameez. I would think those wearing hijabs or similar clothing might have a different story.

Think Johnson will have to think twice about saying anything stupid in public but still cannot wipe out what he has said before.

I am not fearful. I think civil society and the rule of law is strong and the overwhelming majority of English people I have met a good people and I don't expect that change. No society is anywhere perfect and there will be incidents that will create anxiety. Johnson is a man full of contradictions but he is also full aware that having an angry and fearful ethnic community won't help him either.

Agreed but all politicians play to their base to get support. The Tory Party members are mostly old and although generally very civil, are also very right wing in their views and they decide the Tory leader.

I was racially attacked at School and Racial attacks were common until the mid 80s. It still happens but its very rare.

English people are good but they aren't that different to any other people. I've been to many countries, and if anything I would say the majority of people are more friendly abroad than here. First world countries tend to lose a bit of warmth due to their capitalist nature.

They may be. My experience is a bit limited but generally its been positive.

If people like Tommy Robinson joining the Tories is any indication, I’d say he is right. I think it’s a long and slow process but we’re getting there.

mehdi is an attention *****, those people who think racism is bad in the UK should have tried to live here in the 80s/90s.

Mehdi Hasan doesn't need to seek attention.
And he is completely correct. Boris Johnson comments previously has definitely made thighs worse and he has been asked many times to apologise or retract which he never did.

Doom mongers, thats all it is.
Are their racists in the uk? Of course there is, white racists, asian racists etc.
Will it get worse? On the whole no, but you might get some really bad incidents, occassionally, but that could also happen under a different government.
On the whole, nothing to worry about, this is the UK, not india?

Johnson doesn't seem like the sort of guy who even thinks once before speaking let alone twice

Yes.

The normalisation of racist and Islamophobic language by the PM will have consequences for BAME people.

"Tommy Robinson" and Katy Hopkins claim to have joined the Conservative Party. If true, why were these hate preachers allowed in? Think about that.

For years I have been warning about creeping fascism, and it has just taken a leap forward.

he doesnt need attention, yet seeks it from anywhere possible, mehdi is a lost cause what ever issue he talks about, he tries to twist and sensationalise every item like a tabloid,

as for boris, can you actually backup with evidence how he has made things worse, or are you just making things up like your hero mehdi.

Na try the 70s bro with skinheads on the rampage, by the 80s we had sorted them out!

was just making the point that racism has been on the decline every year, so it was alot worse in the 90s, never lived in the 70s but went school here in the 90s and so much has changed.

What used to happen in the 90s?
Any examples?

Both left & right love fear-mongering. Your favorite party lost elections, but don't make it like it's end of democracy, freedom and rights.

On the topic itself, the onus is still on British Muslims to show some loyalty/care for their own country & society. They often refuse to adapt and integrate in the system.

I agree somewhat. Muslims need to integrate more, but they shouldn't be attacked if they don't integrate.

I must say that there certainly is a sense that you are either left-wing, or a Nazi , with no in between.

US, India and now UK have fallen to Right wing.

Blame should go on Extreme Left whose brainless policies gave ideal environment for right wing parties to grow.

It will be no worse then the immediate aftermath of 26/11 and all such attacks. Now that he lives in Qatar or somewhere he feels all safe and that. If integrating more means drinking, smoking, clubbing and womanising then I won't do it. I just don't no what exactly they want Muslim's to do when using this term.
