OK, I've seen this guy batting for Middlesex CCC in county cricket. He's a powerful destructive left handed batsman. I was very much impressed with his array of stroke-making.

28 years old Malan, his numbers are excellent specially in shorter formats. Averages around 40 in 116 List A matches and averages 34 in 92 T20s striking at 121 with 2 centuries. This season century he hammered centuries too.

I wonder why he wasn't picked by England specially in shorter formats, T20Is to be precise. There was a time when Michael Lumb was preferred in T2OIs who averaged 25 in T20s and Lumb even enjoyed stints in BBL & IPL.

For me, Dawid Malan looks like a real prospect for England. Last year he took on the express pace of Shaun Tait. He can bowl some useful leg spin too.

With T20 WC 2016 being in India, I feel he deserves a chance in the T2OIs for England let alone ODIs for England.

He is a real limited overs specialist with his attacking batting. It's time that the franchises of IPL, BBL, CPL, PSL, BPL etc start to look to him.

Your views guys ?

This guy is apparently is scintilating form. Actually should be in the England main team set up

Malans in the very unlucky position of England already having Hales and Roy well set as England's limited overs openers and Vince being the immediate backup for either of them with Buttler also willing to slot up to open wherever he can.

Reached 100 in 92 deliveries. Scored next 85 runs in just 32 :O. Pure carnage!

Sri Lanka-A team bowling look weak. Sharjeel also destroyed them in last game.

Malan needs to take the franchise cricket by storm whenever he gets opportunity to accelerate his selection in the squad.

Late-blooming England star Dawid Malan drew inspiration from veteran Australian

ENGLAND match-winner Dawid Malan said Australia’s Adam Voges gave him the hope of making an international debut he thought would never come.

Malan marked his first senior England appearance with a superb 78 off just 44 balls in a 19-run victory over South Africa in Cardiff on Sunday that sealed a 2-1 Twenty20 series win.

It was the highest score made by an England Twenty20 debutant and helped justify regular captain Eoin Morgan’s decision to drop himself in favour of his fellow Middlesex left-hander.

But it was a conversation with another Middlesex batsman in Voges, who didn’t makes his Test debut until he was 35, which helped persuade Malan, who turns 30 in September, that he would get a chance to play international cricket.

“I didn’t think this day would come,” Malan said after a man-of-the-match display at Cardiff’s Sophia Gardens.

“I actually had a chat about two-and-a-half months ago with Adam after the North v South (domestic) games which I contributed really well to.

“Then they (England) rested a few players for the Ireland matches.

“I spoke to Adam and said ‘Look, I don’t know what else I can do. I can only score so many runs in the games that I’m given’.

“He gave me a few tips as he was in the same position with regards to Test cricket in Australia.

“He was a late bloomer so he told me what he did. Fortunately I was given another chance and I took it,” added Malan, who on Sunday struck 12 fours and two sixes - the first off just his second ball in senior international cricket.

“You probably have your best years from 28 to 32 as a batsman,” explained Malan.

“You start knowing your game, what your strengths and weaknesses are.

“So hopefully my best years are still ahead of me and I can get a few more opportunities to push for a regular place,” said Malan, who stressed that playing Test cricket was “still my ambition”.

From Peshawar to Glasgow. PSL produces another talent. This time for the English team.

I feel that a lot of teams are copying Pakistan with their youngsters strategy. England, South Africa, india have injected a lot of new players to their squads.

Not like he'd been racking up runs for years before going to the PSL. :stokes

Malan was the 2nd oldest member of the team the other day... Not quite sure I'd call him a youngster.

Haters will always hate. From youngsters I mean fresh unearthed talent. Same way Abbas is a youngster, but physically he's quite mature.

PSL for sure... For sure, put him in spotlight. Alright boy?

Malan should have been selected for England at least couple of years back when I started this thread.

I'm glad that PSL, BPL took note of him, recognized his talent and picked him up. It did give him much deserved spotlight.

Finally, made his debut for England in T20I and scored 78.

Wasn't really room for him a couple of years back and there still isn't really unless a couple of people get rested.

OK chill we will have a new dictionary on PP which will be as per your esteemed assumptions.

I'm happy for him, first county cricket and then PSL, the PSL certainly elevated him to newer heights playing with the champions peshawar zalmi and then of course playing in those conditions in the UAE gave him exposure to playing on those kind of tracks, it's only gonna make you a better player.

Played in BPL last year looked good against pace not so much against spin.

Good player. Hope he returns to the BPL again.
