Minus Imam ul Haq, Imad and Rizwan, this is the best available team with some chance to do well in WC 19.

I think it’s quite clear that 13 places are fixed for the World Cup and the final two are to be decided in this series.

One - who is the extra middle order batsman between Malik and Umar. Ofcourse if they both perform in this series and Hafeez remains injured then they both make it through. Otherwise one will have to go. Haris has pretty much sealed his place with a century and just has to not flop in the rest of the matches.

Two - Abbas, Junaid and Hasnain are fighting it out for the backup pacer space in the squad. Whether Amir deserves to play or not is debatable, but given his performance in previous finals, I think they will select him in the squad. Unless he flops ever harder in the remaining matches.

1. Fakhar
2. Imam (Shan)
3. Babar
4. Haris
5. Hafeez (Umar / Malik)
6. Sarfaraz
7. Imad
8. Shadab (Faheem)
9. Hasan A
10. Amir (Junaid/ Hasnain/ Abbas)
11. Shaheen

So at the end of the series, the outcome is as follows.

1. Reserve opener - I think Abid may have done enough to become the backup opener instead of Shan.

2. Middle order batsman - Akmal is out of the reckoning, but Rizwan has brought himself into contention. I still think a fit Hafeez will walk into the squad given his seniority and bowling. So the choice is between Rizwan and Malik.

3. It seems Shinwari has come from behind and booked himself a space. Abbas is probably out of contention. That means it’s between Amir, Junaid or Hasnain (in that order of likelihood of being picked).

Starting 11:
Fakhar
Imam
Babar
Haris
Rizwan
Shadab
Imad
Sarfraz
Faheem
Hasan
Shaheen

Bench:
Shan Masood
Hafeez/Malik
Shinwari
Junaid Khan

Select only one of Malik or Hafeez--not both. Drop Amir. Shan Masood over Abid Ali as a backup opener--Masood showed his technical soundness against pace during South Africa test series and has a proven List A record. Too late to choose Abid Ali--he might be good but he's too new at the international level.

"I'd probably say there's one decision we have to make on a player, the others are sorta signed and sealed"

Micky Arthur at today presser. Wonder what position is up for debate?

Don't agree with Mickey that it's almost sealed.

1. Malik & Hafeez or Malik/Hafeez is being debated by Analysts aswell as Ex Cricketers. Hafeez is two weeks away from starting training again and fitness Test is on 14th. Malik has had poor last 10 - 15 Odi's where he has been extremely poor against any decent pacer.

2. Shan/Abid as 3rd opener isn't sealed yet. Abid got unfit at a very wrong time. If he didn't get injured and scored a fifty today than he would have edged Shan. Shan today stroked a quality fifty in last Odi. If Abid got fit in time than Pakistan Cup performance of Abid & Shan needs to be weighed. Also I am not sure if Abid will be able to pass fitness Test on 14th April since he is quite over weight tbh. Nonetheless Abid's hundred was classy. Ahmed Shehzad could put his name up aswell with stellar Pakistan Cup performances.

3. Umar Akmal/Asif Ali will also depend upon Pakistan Cup performance. Both have poor shot selection as their big negative but there is no other choice atm. Umar May fail fitness Test aswell. Asif had great PSL but he has zero Odi performances against quality teams. So, I would like to pick the one who performs in Pakistan Cup and passes fitness Test aswell. Sohaib Maqsood could surprise a few aswell in Pakistan Cup.

4. Hasnain/Wahab/Amir is also undecided. The one who performs the best in Pakistan Cup should be picked.

Shinwari has no skillset wrt seam or swing so him taking 4 wickets today will haunt us because he will be picked now.

1. Fakhar
2. Imam
3. Babar
4. Haris
5. Rizwan
6. Sarfraz
7. Shadab
8. Faheem
9. Hasan
10. Shaheen
11. Shinwari (unfortunately)

These are sealed. Four spots still debatable.

Looking forward to Pakistan Cup.

Looking forward to Pakistan Cup.

For Mickey it's almost sealed, adding to your 11 players both M Hafeez and S Malik are in that WC Squad already and will be completely fit before it.

Imad Wasim is one of the only finishers who is batting well and is definitely fixed.

M Amir didn't play the last 4 ODIs and isn't included in Pakistan Cup, this means he is already selected as he won't play anywhere now.

That makes it 15.

Shadab and Faheem at 7 and 8 is weak.

My XI, for now.

Fakhar
Imam (or Abid)
Babar
Haris
Hafeez
Imad
Sarfraz
Amir (or Faheem/Shinwari)
Hasan
Shadab
Shaheen

-Shadab's SR is 65 (that too batting at 8) while Amir and Hasan's SRs are 82 and 102 respectively. Shadab shouldn't be sent ahead of Amir and Hasan, his 10s (15) or 20s (30) batting at 8 will do more harm than help.

12. Faheem Ashraf
13. Shan Masood

15. Usman Khan Shinwari

Unfortunately Malik has been confirmed by Mickey. Let's see if he finally turns up.

Amir gets in over Junaid, because he can bat. You can only afford two genuine tailenders in a squad of 15. Otherwise there could be a game where 9, 10 and 11 all can't bat.

Shinwari guaranteed his spot today, he might cost us a game or two while also managing to bowl a match-winning spell.

Shan instead of Abid because of experience and fitness.

Of course Hafeez can come in and ruin this whole squad. Because if both him and Malik stay in the Top 6 batting, then that means Imam, Fakhar or Haris might miss out. Which would be extremely unfair.

As for who plays which match, Shadab and Faheem should rotate depending on conditions and opposition. The three main pacers: Amir, Hasan and Shaheen, would play a total of 27 games combined, because it's 9 games each. I say give each of them 7 games, while Shinwari plays the other 6. The best three should play together at least for the first game and then the last couple of important matches.

Of course I won't be surprised if they select the seniors and play a full strength team for every match which results in an injury.

I trust Mickey and Sarfraz to do well with the squad, but Inzi might disappoint us...

This is not my playing eleven. These are the guys who according to me have booked their names in squad of 15 for WC.

By Mistake I missed Imad Wasim. He is a certainty.

Probably Mickey will give Asif Ali, Imad and Faheem 4-5 matches vs England before WC.

You make a very valid point about Amir. If He is not playing Pakistan Cup than I believe He is selected for WC already.

By Mistake I missed Imad. That makes it 13.

Rizwan had a good Sou series with 2 hundreds at a good SR. Personally I do not rate him against any decent pacer or spinner.

But, if Rizwan is picked than no way Malik and Hafeez will be picked.

If Abid Ali regains ful fitness than he will be third opener provided he has good Pakistan Cup numbers aswell.

Asif Ali has to take Umar Akmal's vacant spot aswell.

PCB applies England visa of 27 players for WC19 including Wahab, Akmal

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) submitted British visa applications of 27 players for the World Cup 2019 at the UK embassy in Islamabad.

According to the sources, Sarfraz Ahmed, Babar Azam, Hassan Ali, Fahim Ashraf, Shadab Khan Wahab Riaz, Asif Ali, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Abid Ali, Muhammad Rizwan submitted the application for a visa.

A source with direct knowledge of the matter also told that Umar Akmal, whose chances in the World Cup are extremely low, also submitted the visa application for England. While wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan is likely to be included in the squad.

Meanwhile, right-handed batsman Abid Ali may be included in the team as a top-order batsman.

The head coach Mickey Arthur earlier today in a press conference said that he will be meeting coaches this afternoon, where he will discuss individual plans for each player and it will be a build for our players for the series in England in their backyard.

Pakistan will tour England in May to play one T20 and five ODIs, which would be their final series before the ICC World Cup 2019.

They will use the M Hafeez injury and unfit excuse to exclude him and will compromise on Imad and Haris's fitness levels. Asif Ali will get the nod in place of Umar Akmal unless he has a very poor One Day cup performance. Wahab will get selected if he does well in the one day cup.

Do you have the full list bro? Right now I am desperately hoping Saud scores like crazy even though I know he won’t make the squad. :))

Seems as though Wahab has a real chance of making the squad.

I have selected a squad based on what the coach might select and picking players that I prefer :

Fakhar Zaman
Imam Ul Haq
Babar Azam
Haris sohail
Shoaib Malik (grudgingly)
Sarfraz Ahmed
Shadan Khan
Faheem Ashraf
Mohammed Amir
Hasan Ali
Shaheen Afridi

Mohammed Rizwan
Abid Ali
Usman Shinwari
Junaid Khan

Realistically does wahab have a chance of making it? I'd like him in the team honestly, as the back up pacer (over shinwari/Junaid), if he can do well in the Pakistan cup.

The first eleven names will be the starting team in that order, I'll be shocked if they aren't. I'm pretty sure the squad i've listed is correct too (bar Hafeez not returning from injury in time). Only name I'm not completely sure is Rizwan, they could go for a back up opener in Abid instead though think if needed they'd make Haris open (or push others up). I'd be very surprised if Junaid gets the nod over Shinwari, Shinwari just had a better series and in general has been more part of the squad last few months than Junaid.

If they do go for a backup opener, it would be Shan, not Abid. Abid has one innings in a dead rubber and is not fit enough. Shan has a lot of credit in the bank from the SA series.

My money is on Shan making the cut as the 15th player although Rizwan could make it as the backup keeper, Yasir could make it as the backup spinner and even Wahab or Hasnain could make it as the out and out fast bowling option.

No way haris won’t make the starting 11 after his 2 centuries and what Mickey said about him. Only one of Malik or Hafeez will play.

This TEAM

When will teams announce their Cricket World Cup 2019 squads?

So far, New Zealand are the only team to have announced their 15-man squad for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2019, but the other nine teams are lining up their dates too.

The ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2019 is set to get underway in England and Wales, starting 30 May. New Zealand were the first, and so far, only participant to have revealed their 15-man squad for the flagship event.

Other teams have until 23 April 23 announce their sides, and can continue making adjustments until 23 May for eventualities such as injury to players.

In case you missed it, New Zealand were the first side to name their squad for #CWC19! 🇳🇿

India, Pakistan and South Africa have confirmed specific dates on which they will unveil their squads, while some others have offered approximate dates.

Here's the low-down on some key dates and details on when each of the 10 teams can be expected to make the big announcement. We'll update the details as we know more.

India: 15 April

Ranked No.2 in the ODI rankings, India too go into the tournament as one of the favourites and they're set to announce their squad next Monday.

The 2011 winners are a fairly well-settled unit, their Achilles heel being the No.4 batting position. The likes of Ambati Rayudu, Dinesh Karthik, KL Rahul and Ajinkya Rahane have all auditioned for the role and their IPL performances may well dictate whether they make the final cut.

Pakistan: 18 April

Winners of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, Pakistan are one of the wildcards in the World Cup. Sure, their recent form has been a bit worrying, but they're a team that can't really be written off at a big event.

They have assembled a 23-man probables squad, who are undergoing fitness drills and training. They will narrow that squad down to 15 on 18 April. The five-match ODI series in England in early May should offer them strong preparation for the marquee event.

South Africa: 18 April

The team used recent series against Pakistan and Sri Lanka to trial new candidates for the World Cup. Ongoing domestic matches have also allowed candidates to showcase themselves, even as the likes of Aiden Markram have begun their county season in England. Hashim Amla's form has been one of the big questions for them, and while there has been an injury cloud over JP Duminy, Lungi Ngidi and Anrich Nortje, they are all likely to make the squad.

A camp for the selected players begins on 12 May.

Afghanistan have announced a preliminary squad

Only weeks before the start of the big event, Afghanistan have made the big and sudden decision to remove Asghar Afghan as the team's captain, handing duties over to Gulbadin Naib instead. Afghan, along with 22 others, is part of a 23-member preliminary squad training in South Africa. They will play six practice matches, before a final squad is announced.

They are also scheduled to play four ODIs – two each against Ireland and Scotland – before the World Cup.

Bangladesh: between 15 and 20 April

Although no official announcement has been made, Habibul Bashar recently said that they hoped to announce a squad somewhere between 15 and 20 April, after the conclusion of a 50-over domestic tournament. A World Cup camp is scheduled from 24 April.

The team have a solid core of players and although recent ODI outings haven't exactly gone to plan, the senior core remains intact. The tri-series against Windies and Ireland will be of major importance to them.

England: date not yet confirmed

Not only are they the home team, but they also go into the tournament as the No.1 team in the MRF Tyres ICC Men's ODI rankings. The big question is whether they bring in Jofra Archer, who, having only recently qualified for the country, is yet to play a game for them, but has been on the radar owing to strong performances in T20 leagues across the world. England are scheduled to play six ODIs prior to the World Cup, with a five-match series against Pakistan in early May.

Australia: date not yet confirmed

The five-time winners are suddenly looking well-placed for a good run at the event after having won each of their last eight ODIs across India and UAE. They may well delay the announcement of the squad as far as possible in order to have more time to gauge the form of David Warner and Steve Smith in the IPL, both of whom have recently returned from 12-month suspensions.

They have a training camp scheduled in early May, and some practice matches against New Zealand.

West Indies: date not yet confirmed

Several stars from the region are in various Indian Premier League teams, and a lot of the final selections could be determined on how the players perform in the T20 tournament. With the likes of Chris Gayle and Andre Russell likely to be in contention for selection, Windies could emerge a really strong-looking side in lead up to the World Cup. They will feature alongside Bangladesh in an ODI tri-series in Ireland in May, prior to the tournament.

Sri Lanka: date not yet confirmed

Sri Lanka's provincial one-day cup is currently taking place and that will help the selectors zero in on strong candidates to make the cut. The tournament is set to conclude on 11 April and one suspects that the squad will be announced soon after.

The country's recent ODI fortunes have been on the wane, so there could be a few spots up for grabs. They have a couple of ODIs scheduled in Scotland prior to the 23 May deadline.
