"Despite security threats in India, we are ready to play there" : Shahryar Khan [Clarification #44]

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan on Thursday said they are ready to play India in India and also on a neutral venue.

Political tensions between the countries have affected Pakistan-India cricketing relations, with the two teams last facing each other in 2012 in a bilateral series in India. Since then, the Indian government has kept stalling proposals for another series by delaying permissions to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), much to the detriment of cricket since matches between the two countries are the most watched ones across the world.

Shaharyar, while addressing media at the Karachi Press Club, said that they are ready to weigh all the options but first the BCCI needs to agree to play against Pakistan.

“Yes, it is possible,” said Shaharyar. “We are ready to play in India. Although we will have a lot of security threats there, but we are ready to play in India if they offer it to us. Also, we are ready to face them in a third country (a neutral venue), but first they need to agree to play against us. They are not ready, so how can anything happen?”

Meanwhile, on a question about the status of the Hanif Mohammad High Performance Centre, Karachi’s first-ever four-star cricket academy, Shaharyar said that it is in its finishing phase.

“The academy in Karachi is ready. Now we will advertise to find a chief for the academy. We’ll see who comes forward and then we’ll decide who to give the responsibility to,” he explained.

The Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) second edition ended with a landmark final in Lahore and the league is being touted to grow bigger with every tournament. When asked about the audit of the second edition of the PSL, Shaharyar said it is being done. “The audit is taking place. It took place last year and it is taking place this year too.”

Oh my god, this man's stamina on this issue is unbelievable.

If I was a drinker and I took a sip every time Shehryar mentioned the MOU or a series with India, my liver would've packed in by now.

wont surprise me if somewhere in the PCB thinking they hatched a plan where they would proceed with a lawsuit and then offer to drop it if BCCI plays a series and im guessing shares some revenue

:))) :))) :))) I haven't laughed so hard in such a long time. So the PCB is willing to take a chance despite security threats in visiting a country that every other cricketing nation craves to visit desperately.

India is not a safe country for Pakistanis. We've all seen how the extremists behave when they see a Pakistanis rule Indians in India (Fawad Khan, etc.)
 
BCCI was ready to host Pakistan in 2015-2016, PCB refused then. So, why is he ready now ?

Agreed. What is this Bharathi nonsense? Radical Hindu extremism, typified by Shiv Sena. If Pakistan and India wish to progress, they should lock TTP, LeT, etc., in a room with Shiv Sena and refuse to let them leave. Most Pakistanis and Indians have no issue with each other.

Whenever he opens his mouth, he puts my head to shame. Why is our cricket board so interested to play with India if they don't want to play bilateral series with us?

Enough is enough, time to look beyond India. You shouldn't let someone walk over your self-esteem crushing it under his feet.

So on one hand pcb is suing India but on the other hand, expects India to play with them.....

Something is lacking here.... Yeah, it's called common sense.
 
Maybe Shehryar thinks BCCI will refuse playing even at home now given the tensions between 2 countries. We all are fully aware of BCCI's stance on neutral venue's.

PCB can argue that it agreed to playing in India and neutral venue in court of law.

I wonder why the Aussies have never refused to tour India in all these years while the Aussies have refused to tour Pak since 1998? It must be a conspiracy cooked up by the evil BCCI backed up by the racist ICC.

The old man is senile, get him out of the chairman's seat. Even most Pak fans don't care about playing India anymore.

If PCB had any sense they would have organised a Tri Series in Sri Lanka with SL and India.They would make money,BCCI will play because this is not a bilateral series, so govt cant object.But PCB will threaten,sue,vote againist BCCI and then expect a series.

PCB has always been a circus. Explain this:

1) Bangladesh should tour Pakistan. Bangladesh doesn't agree to tour let's boycott Bangladesh.

2) no other board wants to tour Pakistan. It's well within their right.

3) Bangladesh and India has security threats.

4) despite threats in India we are willing to tour.

5) bcci should compensate for our losses. So should BCB?

6) Bangladesh is not attractive to sponsors like Zimbabwe or West Indies when BD itself will bring some local sponsors. And it doesn't take a genius to know BD's sponsorship Trumps that of Pakistan

Trust me, half the time he doesn't even know what he's talking about due to his age.

oh and lets forget all those dramas created by sethi during big 3 launch when he was selling the big 4 manjan to the whole nation and how he secures a big deal for Pak.

Lahore May 12, 2017: Chairman PCB has clarified that his comment on agreeing to play in India was related to the contract between PCB and BCCI signed in 2014 according to which 6 bilateral series had been agreed over an 8 year period. Pakistan had agreed to host 4 series in Pakistan or any third country like UAE or Sri Lanka with mutual consent while India was to host 2 series in India. BCCI has failed to fulfill this contract as a result of which PCB has sent a legal notice to BCCI. Chairman had stated that PCB is ready to play in India despite security threats but only as part of the contract it has signed in 2014 with BCCI, in which it is clearly noted that first India will play Pakistan in Pakistan’s home series, be it in Pakistan or a neutral venue.

What a farce they have become.
 
Can the Pakistanis make up their mind on what narrative they want to peddle?

- Is playing in India a bad thing or a good thing?
- Is the IPL a good thing or a bad thing?
- Was Tendulkar a great player or a darpok whose legs shook while facing Akhtar?

(I keep hearing different things based on the phases of the moon)

Also, is this guy seriously suggesting that even if India would be dangerous for his players, he still wants to tour? I mean he knowingly wants to put his players in the harms way? Really?
