We need to back these three player no matter what. They are extremely talented and Imam was playing well today as well. Babar has some mental blocks I believe but he will come through.

Shaheen is class

Imam and Shaheen are good, and babar is lol. If I had a choice, I would take Sir Jadeja batting over Babar. He is that bad and serious match loser.

Bobby is a question mark for your Bhaijaan bro.

Imam and Shaheen are exciting and will become one of the best in the world in 2-3 years time.

I agree he is overrated but he can easily be a consistant 40 avg batsman.

People overrate him but he is actually pretty talented. He may or may not get to YK levels but he'll have an important part to play in WC 2019

Totally agree. The future of Pakistan cricket. Just need a year or two to fully develop

Nah, we have a rich history of players who regress. Our players deep down are the most unprofessional in the world, just don't kick on but go in the opposite direction.

Our selectors and team management give too many chances to out of form players at the expense of the team's needs.

If a player is not progressing, he needs to be dropped as that is the only way he will get a kick in the backside to go back and work on his flaws to improve his game and earn a recall.

Babar can potentially cost matches for Pakistan, he's a pretty good bat but I just can't stand batsmen like him. A poor man's rohit sharma and god knows how much I hate sharma.

Imam is not world class.
Babar is still good, but not world class. He has the potential though.
Shaheen is very good. Can become a top bowler if he can maintain his fitness.

Babar is a bit of a softie but will rack up runs.

Question mark over whether Imam can turn up against the big teams.

But Shaheen is quality. Glad he has finally been brought into the ODI setup and will get a bit of experience under his belt before the WC.

Shaheen: Yes. An excellent prospect and has all ingredients to become a world class bowler.
Bobby and Immy: Nope. Average third class players.

World class minnow bashers possibly, as far as the batsmen go.

But Shaheen is definitely a talent and one to watch out for from the glimpses of his bowling that I've seen.

Can't wait for the future Babar+Imam partnerships at 50-60 Strikerates.
Shaheen was the only Positive

I don't know how Pakistani fans do not see it but Babar is such a match loser. He is selfish to the core and detrimental to team. But for the sake of India, I hope he will remain in Pakistan team till WC.

This.

Even this Bangladesh side had more experience than our team. These guys just need time, and I guess this performance will keep them grounded.

I don't know who will be what. But I am all for supporting new players while not putting high expectations on them. We need to cut down the habit of counting the chickens before they hatch. That's what causes the most embarrassment. When will we ever learn to keep it simple. Back the good players and let them be.

This is how different camps are made. Instead of thinking what is good for Pakistan team it becomes "my fav player vs yours fav player". This causes the situation where you have one standard for a player because he is your favorite and different standard for others.

I think Imam did very well in today's match that's it. I am not going extrapolate some kind of a grand theme from this. Likewise Shaheen Afridi did well in his debut series however it is too early to make long term predictions. Let's back him while keeping our expectations realistic.

WHAT THIS TOURNAMENT TELLS IS....

*Drop Nawaz for Hafeez
*Drop Sarfraz for Kamran

Hafeez and Shoaib to be co-captains. And Kamran vice captain

Imam yes, but Babar keep throw his wickets in 30s- 40s a great player always capitalize once he cross 20s 30s..

Asif Ali has all the ingredients of being a special player in LO format. Needs proper guidance and hard work.

We are not capable of producing world class cricketers as of now, but yes they are good for our lowly standards.

Before this tournament Shadab, Fakhar, and Hasan were shinning stars. Then what normally happens with other Pak players happened. They plateaued and once other teams did their homework against them, they were exposed and then they lost confidence.

No player will ever be world class from Pakistan under the current cricketing culture that has been established.

Babar and Shaheen can be top ten players in ODIs, whether they have the requirements for similar in tests, unsure - Shaheen is brilliant to watch.

Many of our players are exciting - Hasan, Shadab, Fakhar, Babar and now Shaheen - its whether they can take it to the next level.

They could all do with a solid county stint, T20 leagues might have something to say about that though...

Imam -AKA minnow legend is a seriously limited ODI player who feasts on poor bowlers. He is not suitable for international cricket.

Babar - a mediocre ODI player who is a clone of Misbah. Babar bats at a snail’s pace. He is more suited to 1990s cricket.

Shaheen - a good bowler. He should be given a long run.

This is why Pakistan can never produce wuality players. We hype them after scoring against minnows. You can say this when Minnow Legend Imam scores against top teams. Went missing in the 2 matches against India.

If we don't hype them and encourage them, who will? West Indies supporters?

Imam can be the dependable type who can potentially save you from bad defeats but he can't be world class in the sense, one of the best ODI bats that people look forward to watching individually.

Babar I've always been skeptical about.

Shaheen looks to have quality and seems to be the unflustered type, so hyping him might not destroy him.

They are good players, however it's a hyperbole to say they are world class atleast not yet depends on there work ethics that how they shape up in their career, but there is serious question mark over the mental toughness of babar Adam.

Let them score against top teams consistently, then you can do whatever you want. We hype a player too much after playing well against Zimbabwe.

People need to start coming off their high horses and realize the reality of the fact that Pakistan just is not good enough to prepare players for international level challenges.

Shaheen I agree, can be world class. Terrific prospect.

Babar and Imam are very limited players and will only perform against low quality attacks.

Totally agree with you here my friend, I wish everyone have a similar thought pattern and have a realistic team expectations.

Looks like Shadab's stock price is falling rapidly. It's not new actually - I can name at least a dozen PAK youngsta to start career with a bang & then fade away within couple of years. Talent management is a big issue if there is no system in place.

Shadab is still promising. Just a bad tourney.

Not sure about Imam-ul-Haq and Babar Azam.

Shaheen Afridi has immense potentially. Looking forward to seeing how he progresses.

Shaheen is quality and has has potential, Imam hasn't played too many games against bigger teams and Babar can be a 47 average batsman.

Absolutely. Pakistan team has a tendency to collapse and it is very important to have solidity at the top. Both Babar and Imam have great temperment and have the ability to score big.

Babar seems to have a lot of insecurity for some reason. Maybe he's listening to the Akmals about being dropped. He takes a lot of time to settle down and slows down near milestones. He just needs to be confident and improve his SR at the initial stages of his innings. He always catches up later when he scores big. However, he won't be able to impose himself on the game like best No.3 batsmen in the world do. People unfairly compare Babar to Kohli. He is in the Williamson mould and will be a great asset if he punches right off the block.

Shaheen will be one of the stars of the WC 2019 and Imam can be some one who averages 40 at 80 SR which is very good in Pakistan setup.

Babar Azam is the most overrated cricketer in the history of cricket.

Sticking to my prediction :)

One performance from babar against a top team does not make him a top player. Prior to this innings he’s barely averaged 10 against the top teams. Now are those stats irrelevant as well?

Imam can be class in tests , not sure he is a LO player. Doesn't seem to have the shot range or the ability to rotate strike consistently.

Babar has to improve against the top teams and also show more intent and belief at the crease. Also has to improve his test form.

Shaheen looks really impressive. Have to give credit to the think tank for introducing him into international cricket early and giving him game time.

Never doubted Afridi kid is special.

Babar will be something great too but needs to be better in test arena

Imam well if you can't rotate strike you shouldn't be opening

South Africa aren't that average

Think you should watch his celebration. Was for you :D

What is the use of class if you cannot win games for your country.Rashid Latif was right when he compared the current bunch of players to those playing for India in the mid 90's setting individual records rather than winning games for India

jumping the gun a bit here. Babar is the only one who has proven himself over a longer period of time, but even he has a lot to improve on.
I would say given the expectation, Babar probably has the most to work on. He's got to be so much better and put the team on his back

Imam is good, but Fakhar was better in his first 6 months. And Shehzad was better than them both in his first 1-2 years. Right now, I don't know if Imam is world class potential, or if he will fizzle out in 1-2 years

Another minnow bashed

You need appreciation. Good work

Imam still has the potential. He is highly motivated and wants to develop his game. He has a long way to go but his trajectory is upwards and could be a decent opener for us in Tests and ODIs by the time he's 27.

Looking at the first few comments in this thread, you would think people are speaking about Ahmed Shehzad and not Babar Azam.

It's funny how impatient and ungrateful how fans can be. We don't deserve talents like Shaheen and Babar but jokers like Akmal and Shehzad.
