Did OZ group unethically use the PSL Auction and the Sialkot Team acquisition for short term publicity with the intention of selling for a quick buck?

I don't understand how did the PCB let these people bid for an extravagant amount with no proof of funds and how did the PCB overlook the fact that one of the owners had declared bankruptcy in the past?

The PCB has allowed the OZ group to sell 98% of the team shares to CD Ventures whereas on the day of the auction for the Sialkot team, it was I2C which came second in the bid.

If we were to place ourselves in I2C or Aims shoes, would you not feel aggrieved and hard done by the unethical behaviour of the OZ Group folks?

This whole episode is extremely damaging for PSL's and Pakistan's reputation and another example why foreigners are hessitant to do business in our country.

One of the people involved Kamil Khan is Waqar Younis brother in law and Shoaib Akhtars, Shahid Afridis closet friend

Harsh, but going by PCB reputations one should not be surprised if this all was done pre-planned , may be somebody got $$$ for it.

So one group sells stake in its team .even if its a controlling stake it isn’t illegal per say

“Source has revealed that CD VENTURES now holds 99 percent shares, not 98... The remaining 1% is with Ozzy Group, and that's only because ownership remains in place for three years and cannot be transferred, but all authorities are now with Gohar Shah Sahib”

Hamza Majeed (Sialkot Stallionz) speaking during Press Conference:

“I’m both surprised and troubled. Three days ago, it was 75, then 76, then 90, then 98%, and yesterday a friend shared with me that it even reached 99%. The equity dilution of shares will be on an equitable basis. The NDA is signed between both parties, so I cannot disclose it publicly. As for the names you are mentioning, they are subject to approval. The PCB is considering it within the next two to three days, and we will hold a press conference about it. All announcements will be made then. So, let’s wait for the right time.”

“I want to thank the PSL and PCB management, because they supported us throughout this journey. From the Chairman to the CEO to the entire management, they were aware that something was wrong behind the scenes. Their stepping up and giving us space was important because the truth is the truth and lies are lies. Now, replying to every single rumor is pointless. Thousands of things are said, and you can’t answer them all—so we let it go.”

“There was a time when things really needed to be investigated, and they themselves said they should step in. If PCB had even the slightest doubt about Hamza Majeed or Oz Developer, they would never have supported us. I wouldn’t be sitting here today—they would have already exited me. So, everything has its right time, and that time has come to move forward.”

“As for Wasim Akram, he is a very big name. It would be an honor for us to have him as part of our team. Having said that, the last commitment was made by a party that had no real base. How that plays out in the coming days, God willing, I will share when the time is right. I don’t want to say more now, otherwise it will create unnecessary issues.”

“Regarding Steve Smith—our entire team is intact, the playing XI is intact, and our squad remains unchanged. So the rumors that Smith won’t come are false—he is part of our squad.”

Idiots

They robbed genuine bidders from owning a PSL franchise for 10 years

What a joke this is

Saying it is was for short term publicity is giving them the benefit of the doubt and assuming they were competent enough to have hatched a plan.

They were incompetent and bluffed their way into owning a team, the only publicity they will have now is that they will be tainted with the incompetent tag.
