PSL XI Expansion: Hyderabad and Sialkot unveiled as new franchises [Update@post#83]

Really interesting stuff here. Bade price was 110carores for 7th team and after that the base price for the 8th team was set at 170 carores

Smart business from the PCB. The first team got sold for Rs 1.75 billion. That should be used to form a basis for the next team. The PCB was also smart to decide to sell the Multan Sultans team after this psl.

These oz developers seem to be real estate company. Not a good thing for psl. Real estate companies most involved in fraud so lets see if they ru n the team

What was the criteria for setting the base price for 2nd team

Yeah I doubt these guys will last 10 years

I don’t think they have that kind of money.

Ali Tareen must be regretting. Next season Multan would be sold for a similar price or even higher

FSD and RWP would have been better logistics wise, also with FSD having proper stadium , that was a strategic miss on PCBs part

PCB should use this money to develop cricketing infrastructure in Sialkot and Hyderabad, otherwise no point in hosting Hyderabad Sialkot matches in other cities like peshawer and quetta

Good to see Sialkot is back and should be named the stallions because the name has alot of history to it.

This is a good thing for sialkot cricket fertanity as it has very big group that consissts of Malik, Mansoor Amjad, Rana Naveed etc. So these guys being back would be great.

No matter what, Malik needs to be bought to them, he is like the face of sialkot. Him and Ashiq Firdous

Nice to see Sialkot back. Hyderabad is also a good throwback team but lets be honest there isn't too much to gain from a commercial or fan perspective for another Sindhi team.

Only criticism i will make of the PCB is that they should have held the PSL roadshows in Arab states like Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar and perhaps in some other major European countries and Australia. They might have been able to attract some more foreign bidders.

The only positive is that this will kickstart the drive to upgrade Niaz Stadium and to develop a 5 star ICC approved hotel in Hyderabad.

It looked like they had a lot of demand. In hindsight they should have tried to also sell the Multan Franchise here.

@Major explained the complications of not being able to sell it now.

The new owners wouldn’t have the time they need to set up the branding for the PSL if sold in February

I just do nt understand how new teams are valued way too less than current existing teams. My Understanding is that All teams will have equal share of Revenue from Pool Money . 175 Cr any individual with relative good Small Scale business could have paid that amount.

I hope these 2 new PSL Franchise owners realize what they are getting themselves into, paying an annual PSL Franchise Fee of $6.5 million per year means they need to invest a minimum of $15 million per year in their teams and activities. They better be able to afford these investments and suck up losses early on.

Its clear that PCB has accepted low ball value for new teams when league has already established itself. All the risks associated with league regarding its survival , Security issues , Viable Broadcasting cash flows have been absorbed by existing teams and now new teams get to enter into Established brand with low cost and high ROI. PCB has failed

its a 10 year fee or annual?

The real estate company will run off. Sialkot got sold to a real estate company that tend to have shady dealings.

Remember schon group, the buyers of Multan

I think given the state of the USD wrt to the PKR, the Multan Sultan Ali Tareen Fiasco, the PCB getting $6.5 million each for the 2 new teams is a very decent achievement.

Why don’t you PM them and tell them about this?

Niaz Stadium will need alot more than an upgrade. I've seen grounds in neighborhoods and cricket academies that are in better condition and have more seating

Additional US$ 12+ Million revenue secured by PCB per year. This along with the ICC revenue share & the US$ 12 Million or so should solidify PCBs position as the 4th richest board in the world. The PSL alone is now guaranteeing US$ 20 Million per year so let's hope that the planned improvement in stadiums happen sooner than later.

Mohsin Naqvi revealed some other plans as well for the PSL i.e. an IPO for the PSL on the Karachi Stock Exchange, the PCB launching a PSL OTP app offering a subscription fee online streaming service to overseas Pakistani's to watch PSL games.

I thought he looked pretty comfortable and natural. His experience in hosting game shows and sporting shows in the past showed. His comments to the Jazz owners "Balance Khatam ho gaya hai" was pretty funny

He did very well for the parts I seen. Looked comfortable as you say. He's quite a good host/pundit, laid back and funny

Does anyone have a background on the Hyderabad team owners? How the hell do they even make money because their website is shady as hell and you can’t make money by running local teams in cricket

He really said that??? LOOOL

I think all of us should be thankful that the guy wearing sun glasses inside the hall did not win any team.

We all dodged a major bullet there

What are these teams and what are these leagues

Time he retired why make a 40 year old a captain how can we go forward if we select 40 year old players
Its a domestic league. Anybody can play as long as they perform. If Noman is one of the best then he merits it. Not saying he does currently in T20 format but if he does perform on merit then why shouldn't he be part of this league?

It's a matter of opinion I have never seen him in t20 format or odi to make him a captain on what bases because he performs in tests is no Brainer

One of the owners is originally from Hyderabad and the other is from Lahore. They selected the names. If a person from Kashmir had won the auction then he would have probably names it after a city in Kashmir.

hyderabad was the least interesting of the old t20 teams, but sialkot was the most interesting, so i guess they balanced it out. they have to rename sialkot stallions, its such an easy win from a branding point of view, and shoaib malik would make a great mentor, director, he had his quirks, but he had a decent cricket brain, esp when it came to t20s.

Couple of metally unstable ex-players can cause trouble, Shoaib Akhtar and Razzaq.

HBL PSL expands with successful Auction and Induction of two new franchises

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the HBL PSL Teams Auction 2026 for induction of two new Franchises, marking a significant milestone in the continued growth and evolution of the league. As a result of the auction process, Team 7 has been awarded to Hyderabad, while Team 8 will represent Sialkot, officially expanding the HBL PSL to eight teams.

The auction attracted strong interest from prospective investors, with nine bidders participating in the Live Auction at Jinnah Convention Centre, Islamabad, reflecting the growing commercial strength, global appeal, and long-term sustainability of the HBL PSL. The induction of Hyderabad & Sialkot Teams further strengthens the league’s national footprint and underscores PCB’s commitment to inclusivity, regional representation, and fan engagement across Pakistan.

In the first round of the Auction, the base price for the seventh team was set at PKR 110 crore and after a fierce round of bidding US-based FKS Group led by Mr Fawad Sarwar made the winning bid worth PKR 1,750,000,000 and chose Hyderabad out of the six available city names.

The second round saw the base price of the eighth team set to PKR 170 crore, which led to deep interest from the investors as there were two calls for strategic timeout. In the end OZ Group led by Mr Hamza Majeed snapped the eighth team for PKR 1,850,000,000 and chose Sialkot as their team.

Congratulating the successful bidders, PCB Chairman, Mr. Mohsin Naqvi, welcomed the new franchise owners into the HBL PSL family:

“The expansion of the HBL Pakistan Super League with the addition of Hyderabad and Sialkot is a landmark moment for Pakistan cricket. We warmly welcome the new franchise owners and look forward to their contribution in strengthening the league, enhancing competition, and further elevating the HBL PSL’s global stature.”

Chief Executive Officer of the HBL PSL, Mr. Salman Naseer, also expressed his confidence in the expansion:

“The successful live and competitive auction reflects the immense trust investors have in the HBL PSL brand. Hyderabad and Sialkot bring with them rich sporting heritage and passionate fan bases. We are keenly looking forward to working closely with the new owners to deliver an even more compelling and competitive HBL PSL experience for fans worldwide. The League is thriving and we can't wait for the next few weeks to unfold as they promise to be even more exciting.”

The owner of the Hyderabad franchise, Mr. Fawad Sarwar expressed their appreciation and enthusiasm:

“We are delighted to have successfully secured the Hyderabad franchise in the HBL Pakistan Super League. This is an exciting new chapter for FKS Group, and we look forward to bringing our philosophy of professional management, innovation, and excellence of execution to the HBL PSL. The league presents both tremendous opportunity and meaningful challenges, and we are fully committed to building a franchise that represents Hyderabad with pride and contributes positively to the growth of Pakistan cricket across the world.

Similarly, the owner of the Sialkot franchise, Mr. Hamza Majeed shared his excitement at joining the league:

“"It is a tremendous honour to acquire a franchise in the HBL Pakistan Super League, and we are delighted to bring the league to Sialkot, a city that has contributed immensely to Pakistan’s sporting identity. It is both a privilege and a huge responsibility to become the league's eighth team as we begin our journey in HBL PSL 11 with pride and ambition.

"Sialkot has a rich legacy of cricket and sporting excellence, from producing world-class sports equipment to achieving notable success in domestic cricket, including T20 titles. This team is for the people of Sialkot and their energy, pride and love for the game will be our greatest strength. We are honoured to represent this historic city on the HBL PSL stage and are committed to building a franchise that reflects its winning spirit. We also look forward to contributing to the continued success of the league in close coordination with HBL PSL management and the seven other teams."

With the addition of Hyderabad & Sialkot, the HBL PSL enters a new era of expansion, competitiveness, and opportunity. The PCB and HBL PSL Management will work closely with the new franchises to ensure seamless integration ahead of upcoming HBL PSL 11 and beyond.

They must invest at grass root level and offer an incentives to U13 , U16 and U19 kids so that they take up cricket as a profession.

Shoaib Malik might have already started lobbying. I’m sure he has his eyes on captaining Sialkot Stallions.
