Pakistan bowling has gone for lots of runs, but looking at the kind of wickets provided they are some of most flattest wickets in India.
Has BCCI done this on purpose ? Pakistan attack is not so bad and rated the best in the world and it's well known that their batters don't go hard in powerplays.
Strategy by BCCI?

Pakistan plays 2 games in Chennai, which is not a flat wicket by any means, plus 2 in Eden Gardens which is on the bouncier side.

But Pakistan honestly benefits a lot as they probably are the team doing the least amount of travelling. They I believe have 2 matches each in Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata and only 1 in Ahmedabad.

I don’t think it’s a purposeful strategy, I think we got a bit unlucky with the selection - as in playing Afghanistan in the most spinning wicket in India while India played them where there wasn’t as much spin. Just unlucky and part of the game.

What do you want, Pakistan to play at Mumbai where Shiv Sena to dig up the pitch, or Pakistan to play at Delhi where they have to be escorted due to Bhagat's invasion, or Pakistan to play at Nagpur where team bus gets hostage.

Every team has something going against them. For eg, we are playing NZ in Dharamshala which has banana swing, and SA in Eden Gardens which is a bouncier wicket. Go figure!

But no other team whines about the draw like Pakistan does.

Honestly these conspiracy theories are getting so ridiculous. Just accept Pak has been poor till now and they may not qualify for sf. Improve as a team and get better. These stupid theories do not help the Pak team .. :(

Well part of the reason is because this is a Pakistan cricket forum so you see all of the complaints that Pakistani fans make no matter how small or how few make them. I don’t think most Pakistani fans have any thoughts at all about where the matches are played.

Flattest stadium? In this world cup Delhi has been the flattest. Atleast at the start. Pakistan didn't play. Anyway one of the reason this batting line up has not been shown up because the pitches are flat. Imagine this team on a turner. Batting will also fail bowling will also fail.

The problem is not PCT fans or the forums, the problem is your board which has been whinging over every small thing. Did you see ACB whinging over playing India in Chennai? But your board actually went ahead and complained officially about the venue for the Afg match. Who does that?

Pakistan play all their matches on premiere venues.

Could you provide a link to a new story of them complaining about the pitch? If so, I completely denounce that - complaining about the pitch is dumb.

With respect to Pakistan there is security aspect as well. So they carefully chose venues. South Cities are cricket lovers. It is a common knowledge. They are culturally different. Ahmedabad was chosen to host all the premiere match due to "Modi stadium". Opening match/India vs Pak/ Eng vs Aus/Final. Even IPL final happened there.

The Modi stadium also happens to be the largest in the world. Obviously all the premiere matches will happen there as the ticket sales will be huge. Just like previously all major finals or semi-finals were held at Eden Gardens which used to be largest at that time.

The atmosphere you get at Eden Gardens is incomparable. Having seat is not enough. You need good audience to cheer good cricket. It was always poor on that aspect. Chennai, Bengaluru atmosphere is way better.

Non South Cities are not Cricket lovers ? Mumbai, Kolkata ?

Dont know what you are talking about, Eden is the venue where the seats were set on fire after India lost in the 1996 SF. Plus people there threw bottles on Pak teams when Sachin was obstructed from completing a run and was run-out. Btw, I sense very elitist views from you where South India is concerned.

And Chennai and Bangalore are way way too small to hold any kind of KOs. I agree with the crowd being too small, but maybe they should relocate those stadiums to the outskirts and build bigger ones.

Yes. It has a bad reputation in matches involving India. Otherwise, they could have hosted some key matches there. Making Modi stadium bigger is just a political move nothing else. It has no real cricket tradition like Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, or Kolkata. If anyone says that stadium was made bigger not for political reasons then joke is on them.

Cricket is big in India in every city, so don’t know why we should stick to traditional centers. Good for us if newer, better stadiums are being built - political reasons or not.

Besides, nothing stops other cities from building bigger, better stadiums. They all make more than enough money.

Never a fan of vibe and atmosphere there. Opening game was an example. Largely empty. Genuine cricket lovers would fill the stadium.

Pakistani citizens are allowed to visit maximum of five cities on a given entry. So BCCI has to plan all Pak matches in only three other cities as they need to keep Ahamadabad and Kolkata in case Pak makes it through to Semis and final. This means they can travel to three other cities. Mumbai ruled out and PCB prefered to play in south India. So they are left with only BLR, Hyd and Chennai. There are no conspiracies behind it. Just a matter of logistics based on visa restrictions and team preferences.

This actually has worked out well. Just like how a turning track reduces gap between great spinners and good spinners, a good flat wickets reduces difference between big hitters and steady batters. We all saw how well Pak chased in Hyd and kept up with the rate in BLR. All good. Stop conspiracies

What happens if Pak team qualifies to play in the Mumbai SF - both on the visa and security front?

All tradition starts somewhere and sometime. Modi stadium has also started its stadium and in 10 years people will be tacking about its legacy as an iconic stadium.

You can’t blame the Gujarat audience for that - BCCI messed that one up by not releasing the tickets in advance.

It’s a coping mechanism by Pakistan and their fans. I mean they are even complaining about their favorite songs not being played in the stadium when they play 😂

Rather than blame their lack of proper preparation and the inadequate performance by their key players and institutional culture at PCB, they rather fault random irrelevant stuff.

Foreigners shouldn’t take them serious. It a futile exercise in self-delusion, a characteristic trait of the country itself and not something limited to the cricket team. Pakistan cricket is just microcosm of the country.

What joke? If a state govt decide to build a stadium with bigger capacity, what's wrong in that?

And why matches like Ind-Pak or final shouldn't be organised in biggest stadium so more people can watch instead of small stadium?
Just because of legacy? Why any governing body would organise final in Delhi with that ugly pavilion or regular pizza size stadium of Bangalore or low scoring Chennai pitch?

Yeah the DJ played Dil Dil Pakistan in the Australia match, but that didn’t stop them from losing either 😂

The whining from both the board and fans is at another level. I even read people claiming biological warfare when the PCT members fell sick 😂

True. It was indeed political. Always felt they wanted to make Pak team feel they were in "lion's den", as soon as the match was scheduled in Ahmedabad. They were expecting the vociferous crowds and huge pressure to be exerted. Not that pak would've beaten us anyway in any other location, but still just to exert that extra ounce of pressure, Ahmedabad was the right destination in their minds.

Eden Gardens should be a Museum.Proud past but not fit for modern times. Small ground, Neanderthal period stadium etc. Kolkata deserves a better modern stadium. Infact all metro cities Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Kolkata have atrociously pathetic stadiums.

Exactly. There is no room for expansion of these stadiums as they are all in prime city centers. The state govts need to build brand new stadiums in the outskirts of the city now.

Mumbai did build a new stadium in the outskirts (D.Y. Patil), wonder why matches are not being played there now?

Chennai is perfectly fine. Decent capacity , pretty big boundaries and relatively good looking stands.

It's BCCI being generous in the hope that Babar would score a couple of hundreds and give some joy to his fans.

If he had to bat under lights at Lucknow against SA and OZ , Im not sure he could have made 10 runs across both matches.

As it is hs couldn't even score in Bangalore and Hyderabad.

The problem is that even our flat wickets are not nearly as flat as Rawalpindi and Lahore where Babar destroys second string SENA attacks like a boss.

India v Pakistan was definitely scheduled deliberately at MODI stadium for non-cricketing reasons.
No complains though

I can’t believe this is not satire:
The Pakistan team management had concerns that given the Chepauk's history of helping spinners, it would leave the side at a disadvantage against Afghanistan, who have quality spinners.

Is it a basis of their complaint that they’re not good enough, and other teams are better? Hence change the venue to make it easier for Pakistan? Hard to believe this.

As hard as I try to deny this, there seems to be some conspiracy by the BCCI against PCT right from the beginning. Pakistan is generally a solid World Cup team but BCCI’s tactics have ensured that they cannot play at their best and to their advantage.

The last few matches were very much in favour of the opposition team and it seems orchestrated by BCCI.

Also the DJ has not been playing Dil Dil Pakistan.

Babar Azam's test averages

In Aus - 27.8
In Eng - 65.5
In NZ -47.3
In SA - 37.8

Not too bad i think

I think you are getting carried away by India's dominance at home.
U being a sensible poster I expect better from you

Gujarat has THREE super successful and old Ranji teams. It, along with Maharashtra is the cricketiest of cricket states. Sardar Patel Stadium was a storied ground.

MCA(Mumbai) wants to build a 100k stadium but space and distance calculation haven't come together yet.

Chennai is perfectly fine. Decent capacity , pretty big boundaries and relatively good looking stands.
Not about aesthetics alone. Facilities need to be state of the art as well. Spectator experience should be taken into account. Chennai has only done some cosmetic changes.

Babar averages 71 at home and 39 in away and neutral venues. And I wasn't even talking about Tests.

But that's a ridiculous gap between his home and away/neutral stats

39 is not bad for someone who's just played 28 away tests over a period of 7-8 years. Especially when his team generally struggles.

ODI's he played well in the previous WC.

Currently he's struggling because he's unable to handle pressure of captaincy in big tournaments. More so because he's acting as both selector and leader. There's self-imposed added pressure.

The Patel Modi stadium despite being new, has documented evidence of being fan unfriendly, poor drainage, unhygienic food stalls and more. The only thing going for it right now is its size (which rarely gets filled due to ticketing messups) and its name.

After 2024 it will be relegated to being another Wonder of modern India :rabada2

South Indian cities and people have been more welcoming to Pak so far. Less animosity towards Pak in general I guess among these parts of the country

There could be lots of factors ranging from historical, geographical or political.
Currently I think BJP doesn't have much influence in the region

As long as they are not playing against India crowd will be supportive be it south or north, but how pak plays also makes a big difference. They need to play better cricket to get the crowd behind them

Strategy by BCCI?
Pakistan vs Netherlands : both scores under 300
Pakistan vs India: Pakistan rolled out for 191
50% of Pakistan matches have less than 300 scores where is this conspiracy coming from??

South Indian cities and people have been more welcoming to Pak so far. Less animosity towards Pak in general I guess among these parts of the country
South Indian cities have always been well behaved. North suffers from the debate Panama of haryana and UP. ( Just a generalization)
Mohali crowds have been receptive to opposition, dharmshala hardly has crowds but decent enough atmosphere.
Problem starts from delhi onwards till Maharashtra.

Chepauk is an iconic stadium, beautiful ground alongside Marina beach, good capacity, beautiful stands like in Adelaide Oval, big enough boundary dimensions, pitch has good bat-ball balance. Can't believe Indian posters here have a problem with Chennai as a venue.

So if the Pakistani pace attack needs supportive pitches, are they really the best pace attack in the world?

If they were as good as their fans think, they would have taken the pitch out of the equation.

We need to stop looking for excuses as it's getting embarrassing.

Focus on the brand of cricket we are playing and the very average performances so far at this World Cup.

Exactly. Chennai is hands down the best cricketing venue in India. Only issue is the excess heat in summers and untimely rains during the winters.

All in all Chennai, Pune, Mohali, Vizag, Ahmedabad and Dharamshala are the only impressive venues in India. It's a shame that the traditional top 4 cities in India (Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata) have awful boundary sizes.

To be fair, Usama Mir and Haris Rauf did take the pitch out of the equation vs Aus

Excuses.

If one is good enough, one finds a way.

This is typical Pakistani victim mentality.

Additionally, we might be the "real" number 1 team in the world but BCCI doesn't need to hamstring us - they are dominant in world cricket and have an incredible ICC tournament record against us. India does not fear Pak, these conspiracy theories are futile Pakistani complexes manifesting.

Man up, play hard, win games. Ya go home and chill on the manji.

This would be the most embarrassing excuse if anyone uses it.

Pakistani players should be able to handle all types of subcontinent conditions, especially flatter pitches. It's all they see growing up.

Money is the reason. Nothing else.
They knew it'll be housefull despite being +100k seats and wanted to make money out of it.

Gujarat has no cricket tradition? Really?

India are world renowned pitch doctorers.

If they was an ICC trophy for that then they would have several.

There is no way that they don't bend the rules for themselves to get favourable results, so they would no doubt do it to dushman mulk as well.

Hafeez was right.

Lol. You guys can't even win in your own backyard. Scared of losing so much that prepared highway in tests and yet ended up losing series against Aus and England swept clean by 3-0.
Can't win on flat track, afraid of playing against Afg on spin pitch of Chennai that requested to schedule somewhere else.

Ab kya cement ka pitch bana de? Lol.
BCCI doesn't need to doctor any pitch for you guys.

I like and respect your views bro but the most iconic stadium now is Narendra Modi Stadium. Nothing comes closer now. Its our version of the mighty MCG

If you are good, you will win anywhere everywhere. Pakistan was set for a big total against India, but that embarrassing collapse was the culprit, not the pitch. If Pakistan was getting all seaming wickets then one could make a case which India doesn't even have. In similar subcontinent conditions with flat road tracks of India they have no excuse

No visas for fans
Delayed visas for journos and players
No Dil Dil Pakistan

So what! These should be things that should want the Pakistan players to do well and shove it in the face of the hosts.

Thats the way the previous Pak teams would have done it and silenced the crowd, but the current team is looking for excuses for bad performances even before the match is played (like the spinning pitch in Chennai)

Shivsena are Pakistani lovers now. They are as woke and leftist as Congress :D

India have been using politics as a excuse to destroy Pakistan cricket and make sure they’re the only dominate force for years now, but I don’t believe they’ve made us play on flat pitches on purpose

They were treated exceptionally well. I don' think they shouldn't be worried about it. In current social media world they know how to shut down the outside noise. You think Indian players are not under the pump. Dhoni has been booed, Kohli was booed in his own home town during IPL, Even Sachin has been booed. Why didn't they do well in Asia cup?

Pakistan leg spinners look an absolute joke compared to other teams spinners.

Usama Mir looks like delivering pies floated up for free every delivery.

While Shadab is darting either half way down the track or fulltossing them for throwdowns

Pakistan leg spinners look an absolute joke compared to other teams spinners.

Usama Mir looks like delivering pies floated up for free every delivery.

While Shadab is darting either half way down the track or fulltossing them for throwdowns
True. Afghanistan sat Noor out for so many matches. He would walk straight into pakistan playing XI and play all the matches.

Boundary sizes are not that different. As far as I can tell , recently when OZ played PAK the straight boundary at Chinnaswamy was 70 m + .

The focus on dimensions is a little overrated imo.

Happy to be corrected but I remember similar dimensions for Chepauk during IPL as well. And one side square boundary was 61 m and behind square it was no bigger than Bangalore.

It's just the slower nature of pitch and outfield that makes it seem much bigger .

India have been using politics as a excuse to destroy Pakistan cricket and make sure they’re the only dominate force for years now, but I don’t believe they’ve made us play on flat pitches on purpose
How exactly has India destroyed your cricket? If we have IPL, you have your own miniature league PSL. India must also be responsible for $1 = 500 PKR?

How exactly? By not playing Pakistan in bilaterals and not including Pakistani players in the IPL?

I don't think there was aim to destroy PCT in terms of technicality. That would have been a double edged sword. For example, if you make swinging wickets to cheap out Pakistani batsman, it could backfire in case of India or others teams which fails to serve it's purpose. The same case goes for flat wicket also. Always a 50-50 chance of going wrong also.

But there was a sure shot of success. That's is the crowd. The modern PCT players are very vulnerable to the atmosphere and they needs to be under a shell to perform, a shell which will protect the players from outside criticism, chants, any opposing perspective as a matter of fact. Not to mention, there are lots of Mamoons going around which doesn't make the job easier even inside the house.

So India specifically targeted this. Modern day problem requires modern day solutions. Forget about manipulating pitches, ground.... Those are costly and even then doesn't guarantee success.

But this..... This creating an aura around PCT is something that is invincible. Something that you KNOW will work no matter what.

What happens if Pak team qualifies to play in the Mumbai SF - both on the visa and security front?
If Pak makes the semis they play in Eden Gardens.
If India makes the semis we play in Wankhede, EXECPT if our SF opponent is Pakistan in which case we play in Eden Gardens.

It is an ICC event so they should have most of the say. I think every team is playing matches on different grounds that have a little different conditions so this is not a strong excuse.
