Difference between Pakistan and India: Not just a gulf but a yawning chasm

The PCB is a mafia, it's run for the benefit of the connected. It can't change until all the people that work there are sacked and that ain't happening.

IK has messed up. I am a fan of his but this cannot be denied. He talked of an independent PCB yet he continues as patron and choose the chairman? The whole thing needs to be dismantled and rebuilt.

It's not matter of independence or not. It's matter of people with passion for PK Cricket and the PCB staff the PCB as easy money which they don't have to work for. Making independent will only help if the leaders picked are not only competent, they live breathe PK Cricket.

India still has many world class batsmen who are not getting oppurtunities to play for india.

manish pandey, shreyas iyer, mayank agrawal and a few others are world class batsmen deserving to play international cricket in both odis and tests.
not to mention the upcoming young ones like rishabh pant, prithvi shaw, gill etc.

indian cricket is churning out top quality batsmen like a machine and they are incredibly unlucky and cannot make it in the indian team. even their bowling has a guy like mohammad shami who can't get a game.

Disagree. There is not a chasm between the talents of Pakistan and India.

Problem with Pakistan cricket right now is leadership, ala mindset.

It was clear today that the team simply do not respect Sarfraz.

Not even sharma, kohli, pant or shaw will win you 330+ chase when the pitch starts behaving as it did 2nd innings, if you don't understand that then you need to study the game better.

Agreed with the fielding, it has been a joke this world cup, maybe the worst in years. As for the tweaking, they poured money, time and effort into domestic cricket and are now reaping the rewards of a professional setup. Amir wasn't even in WC squad , and then selected last minute while chicken pox ridden, its a miracle pakistan is still 40-60 vs india.
I suggest you watch the extensive replays of the Pakistani batsmen to state that they would have scored 330 runs in their first innings? Once again the body language, nervousness of the top 3 was visible and they were playing to cement their position in the side reminding me of the 1990 indian selfish opening batsmen...

PCB as an organisation has been a cash cow for manyt corrupt people. Unless you change how the board and chairman are selected this wont completely vanish. Dismantle it, recruit good people with experience of running a business and they will employ the right people .. IF they dont, they can be sacked.

Not a bad idea, but somehow we will end up with some uncle, son, dad of some connected loser.

I am 28 now and my hair is thinning I think Pakistan will beat India when I complete go bald lolz

Over the years I have passionately immensely supported Pakistan when they win. When they lose.
I used to sacrifice my time and my sleep fight with my family who used to tease me all the time in me watching them lose.
The losses against India used to hurt upset and get me really angry.
I still continued to support the team but criticise them when it was needed.

This is the first time and the first major tournament that I have no hopes of. 0% chance of Pakistan getting into the semi's let alone win the World Cup.

Today I gabe 0% chance to Pakistan beating India and also ending the losing streak plus keeping their world cup hopes alive.

The CT2017 win did more damage to Pakistan Cricket than it did good and this damage showed in the series against Australia then England.

And now the World Cup!!

The team lacks mental strength
The team lacks rhythm
The team lacks aggression
The team lacks fearless attitude
The team lacks energy, flair, style.
The team lacks basics of cricket knowledge.

Pakistan has regressed when other teams have progressed.

A whole revamp in the PCB is needed and this embarassing shambolic shameful World Cup by Pakistan.

This spanking loss by the hands of Formidable India team will start off by Pakistan hitting rock bottom and then rising.

Why?

Because this is the end of Safraz as captain.
This is the end of Malik and Hafeez
Hassan Ali needs to go back to the basics.
This should be the end of Inzi as chief selector.
And most importantly.

Mickey arthur as coach
Azhar Mahmoud as bowling coach.

I am still grasping on what I predicted at the start.

This World Cup has got Eng Vs Ind final all over it with England being the ones to stop this Indian team!!

India were always going to win whether bat first or bowl. Pakistan are never going to beat India in a World Cup because of their weak mentality.

So once again well done and Congrats to India and Indian fans.

Schooled Pakistan once again and gave us pure classy cricket shots.

Although i have some issues with Imran Khan’s policies, i do agree with him 100% that this nation will be stuck in the 80s-90s unless we get rid of the corrupt mafia in Pakistan.

Shoaib Akthar should not be talking. His jazba was launching him for 6s and 4s in the first over in the 2003 WC run chase by India.

Until Pakistan starts rebuilding their cricketing infrastructure at the grassroots. If they start now, it will be atleast another 5-6 years. If not then this will continue for a very long time with maybe a few fluke wins for the Pakistan team along the way

As long as the team continues to ignore stats and performances, it will continue.

Someone tell Arthur and the PCB to watch moneyball or something.

Why Malik keeps getting picked, no idea. Same with a few others. And in cricket, even one place in the 11 can be crucial.

Why does this talk of rebuilding starts only after loss to India?
Pakistan lost to West Indies and Australia as well earlier. Nobody talked about it then.

Abdullah719 Saj hope that THE post in this thread gets the POTW. The higher echelons of the PCB, specifically Wasim Khan need to see the yearnings of depraved Pakistani fans as well as why we're failing every time we play a World Cup tournament.

get over it, it is barely even a stat worth mentioning without context

the bigger issue is can Pakistan make it through to the semis?

Nobody talked about it then because we had a chance to go to the semis 'then'. Now we ARE out.

The gap between India and Pakistan is no longer a gulf but a yawning chasm. The bitter truth is never in our history have India outgunned us every department like they do now.

We’re deluding ourselves thinking this is merely a matter of putting the wrong XI out on the field or replacing one rookie (Hasnain/Shaheen) with another (Rauf). We’re also deluding ourselves thinking we only needed a more “aggressive mindset” or “fearless cricket” whatever these cliches mean.

The truth is after the turmoil of the 1990s, India professionalised every aspect of their cricketing system while Pakistan remained stuck in the past. India have the advantage of a fanatical 1bn+ television market but the investment has been made where it counts the MOST – in the grassroots and in Ranji Trophy, whereas we expect talent to come down from the sky and NEGLECT our grassroots.

It’s not sexy to talk about domestic pitches, balls and investing in coaching programmes, and MUCH easier to talk about jazba, cornered tigers, passion because this reflects Pakistani society at large. A demand for messiahs and quick fixes – nobody bothers to build institutions and systems. PSL is example of this new saviour we’ve hyped up. Everything is for short term whilst India built for long term.

Most of these Indian batsmen when they debut have got solid fundamentals and are READY to hit the ground running by the time they reach the international stage. The strength in depth is such that you’ve domestic batsmen with over a dozen FC hundreds and 50+ averages sitting on bench. Karun Nair scored 300 vs England yet he doesn’t get a game ! Top youngsters like Shaw, Pant and Gill don’t even feature. That then forces the incumbent Indian batsmen to not get lazy. Whereas Pakistan always rely on star individuals than a systemic approach to success - hence we still have fans asking for Umar Akmal’s 100th recall because he is “talent” and “matchwinner”.

What about the bowling ? For decades we snickered at Indian medium pacers. We mocked the MRF Pace Academy and other initiatives. Nobody’s laughing now as Jasprit Bumrah has become #1 ranked bowler. Bhuvi Kumar gave a masterclass to present the seam and demonstration of how to bowl with the new ball. Whereas our youngsters don’t know the basics or how to work a batsman out.

Let’s not even discuss the fielding and fitness levels. One team demands high standards and professionalism. The other sees captain carry pot belly.

This changes when we demand minimum standards of players and administrators. Enough of these cheap cliches about 1992 and unpredictability. If you can’t catch dollies then your six hitting ability is irrelevant. If you don’t bother maintaining a healthy diet – get lost. If you don’t want to work hard on your game and wish to rest on your past performances – then goodbye. THAT’S how we become consistent – through system building and accountability. India have shown us the way.

POTW. Rings completely true.

I could have taken the loss better if we fought till the end and made a real game out of it. I saw the potential of something special when babar and Fakhar crossed the 100 partnership even though they were behind the DLS and could have done it better. It was heading on a new route at 100-1 and then back to our old ways 166-6. I knew before the match someone was getting bowled cheaply and tbh that was always going to be more likely to be pakistan.
