In the last 10 years or so I have not seen improvement in our bowlers (apart from Mohammad Asif).

Our bowlers have shown early promise but they just don't get to the next level. Maybe I should go further back then 10 years;

Mohammad Sami and Umar Gul come to mind. Both played international cricket for so long but never found the right line and length.

Just look at AbdulWahab Riaz and Junaid Khan. They have also played for many years but sprays the ball all over the place.

I will excuse Aamir as he has been out of cricket for many years, but he is nowhere near his best (yet)

How difficult is it to bowl 4-5 balls in same area.

Now let's move on to indian bowlers. Can start with Zaheer Khan, I initially didn't rate him much but he got better and better though he was not that quick. He found his line and length and troubled many good batsmen.

Nehra also improved the more he played.

Bhuvi and Bumrah started well and they are getting better and better

And the latest person who has impressed me is Umesh Yadav. He was a bit like Riaz, quick but inconsistent. But lately he has also found the ideal line and length and is troubling the batsmen.

Our bowlers still have pace but they simply don't bowl in good areas. They give away so many easy balls to batsmen.

The difference is that this bunch has been bowling together for 3 years consistently now. Our spearhead came back from a demoralizing ban in 2016. One bowler made a come back in 2017. And another made his debut in 2016. Every match there is a change in the combination or tactics which results in absolutely no chemistry whatsoever and no bowling plan either.

The one bowler we have given considerable chances to doesn't have the basics right for a pace bowler and should have been discarded a year ago.

They are so good that they were forced to sit Shami and Ashwin out. It is a far more settled unit. Even back home there are many waiting.

I would say its a general trend for all facets of our game. same has been happening in batting as well
imran = < wasim and waqar > shoaib akhkar > sami + gul > wahab/junaid/aamir

The only logical reason which I can understand is the game awareness. Our players (including batsman) lack the game awareness. They lack the knowlegde of modern cricket requirments. They don't know how to bowl according to the field. They don't know when to bowl a short bowl or to which batsman they should not bowl a short bowl. Our captains have played a great role in destroying these bowlers as well. For us Yasir is not a limited overs cricketer. But the way Brandon Mccullum used him in the PSL proved how to use the skills of a player in different situations.

The key difference is that our bowlers don't live under the delusion of being the "best fast bowling attack in the world (TM)".
