I think it’s deserves its own thread as they have the biggest collection now.

I got the Disney Bundle and watched a bunch of Disney shows lately.

Loki S1- 9/10 : Best of the lot with good mystery and graphics and overall execution.

Wanda Vision 8/10 : Takes it’s own time to come to the point but was really good and ends well.

Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness 7.5/10: I think while as a MCU movie it was really good but because I saw Everything Everywhere All At Once this felt underwhelming.

Started Moonknight and first two episodes were great with amazing background music let’s see how it progresses.

The black widow: loved the action the setup family plot until the climax where it felt underwhelming and the CGI was way too obvious..
7/10..

Most of the Marvel Netflix originals were amazing, Daredevil and the Punisher in particular.

The only Disney+ show that comes close to those 2 is Loki.

That is very true but I think these shows are being targeted to a bigger audience and hence the dilution of dark themes.

With Moon knight I’m hoping they did get a bit more darker but not close to Jessica Jones or Daredevil.

Recently watched the What If short series. Ultron winning gave Skynet vibes

Finished Moon knight ,man went downhill after second episode..

7/10 such a good premise but not a tight execution.

The new Kenobi series coming up soon.

The return of the Prequel Trilogy actors and more Darth Vader stuff.

Should be good.

The Star Wars shows have been spectacular. Absolutely loved the Mandalorian, enjoyed the Book of Boba Fett too. Looking forward to Kenobi.

The CGI to bring back the post-ROTJ/pre-Abrams incarnation of Luke Skywalker has been absolutely incredible. If you didn’t know about the background to this you would just think that he was a living and breathing human being.

CHIP and Dale rescue rangers, really well done 8/10 , great cameos and concept, hopefully this Disney Universe continues and i want to see more of.

voices by
Andy Samberg
John Mulaney
Seth Rogen
JK Simmons
Eric Baba

Treat for ones who loved the old show as well.

Was a fan of the cartoon when I was a kid. Back when Doordarshan metro used to show a lot of cartoons - Disney/Hanna Barbara and in English too.

Is this a new series or a movie?

Its a new movie but yes based on that old show which i watched on sony /zee in Hindi( Disney hour).

Im absolutely happy to see so many Disney cartoons now on one place with disney bundle.

I watched WandaVision and Loki, neither of which were very good in my opinion. Some parts of Loki were just entertaining but others were extremely dull and boring, overall the show was mediocre. Despite not liking any of the Disney plus marvel shows thus far I'll still give Ms. Marvel a shot because the main character is Pakistani.

Doctor Strange multiverse of madness was a very entertaining movie, I don't know why so many people hated it. People shouldn't watch a marvel movie expecting it to be a Tarantino movie.

What did we think of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series?

Finale has just aired.

No Big Spoilers! — of course.

It was a bit inconsistent but overall I liked it.

McGregor was solid as ever. Some neat cameos were shoehorned in.

And every scene with Anakin/Vader was a must-see.

Hayden Christensen’s legacy repaired!

Lightyear has been panned by critics and viewers alike.

Wokeness and LBQT agenda gone mad. Movie is already banned in 14 countries, and rated as worst Pixar movie ever.

Disney should get back to its roots instead of pandering to the political left.

Must admit that I am not interested in Lightyear at all, however it seems to have a 75% critic rating on RT which is solid; rather, it is audiences who have been review-bombing it.

Audiences, namely parents, are taking their kids to a Pixar movie only to be subjected to homosexual kissing. This is why it is being review-bombed, and why the movie is banned in 14 nations.

Ms Marvel started out to be fun. But the 3rd episode was such a downer.

I liked the desi twist they've given it. However, they just rushed the storyline in 3rd episode and the addition of songs seem forced as opposed to the first two episodes.

OTOH Obi Wan Kenobi finale was just amazing. Hate that Disney caps their season to 6 episodes, would've loved if there was more of Obi Wan Kenobi and Moon Knight

Epic. Brilliant series! Hopefully it has seasons leading up to A New Hope

The Falcon and Winter Soldier.. finally a Marvel series that got better by end, 7.9/10 , especially well made for black storyline.

Absolutely don’t care what the white supremacist think about this movie, welldone to Disney to make this series, if the conservatives are creative they can make their own superheroes oh Wait they got a super Ginger 😝

Obi-Wan Kenobi was very average. I will give it a 5/10.

The writing was mediocre, and the show felt rushed. Especially the last episode. They show have made the show longer to give more time to the Luke story line. Instead they rush him in the last episode and worse they utilize someone who should have died at end of episode 5 as going after him.

Is India one of those nations? I hope not. I am gagging for the day the next James Bond is a gaylord of Indian ancestry.

Disney will soon lose copyright to original Mickey Mouse
The copyright for the earliest version of Mickey Mouse will expire in 2024. What does this mean for the world's most famous mouse?

In 2024, the earliest iteration of Disney's Mickey Mouse will enter the public domain.

Mickey Mouse first appeared in 1928 in the animated short film "Steamboat Willie" — the first animation film to use synchronized sound.

In the US, copyright for original works of authorship last until the author's death plus 70 years. But for works created anonymously, pseudo-anonymously or by an employee as part of their job, it lasts 95 years. Works published before 1978, like Mickey Mouse, only have a copyright of 95 years from the date of publication.

While the first version of Mickey Mouse is nearing the end of its 95-year copyright protection, the mouse has had a few transformations since 1928, and subsequent versions of Mickey Mouse will still be protected until their 95 years runs out.

The original Mickey Mouse looks quite different to the warm and round mouse seen today. He had a pointy rat-like nose and skinny arms and legs.

While Disney may lose the copyright to "Steamboat Willie," they may still maintain some rights if that version of the mouse is recognized as a trademark.

"The first question is whether Disney is using 'Steamboat Willie' not just as a character but also as a symbol of Disney," Jane Ginsburg, a professor of literary and artistic property law at Columbia Law School in New York, told DW.

Copyright vs. trademark
A trademark is a recognizable symbol or expression that is connected to a product or service from a particular company or individual, and unlike copyright, they can last forever.

In the US, a trademark doesn't have to be registered to be considered a trademark.

If the version of Mickey Mouse seen in "Steamboat Willie" is seen as a symbol of Disney, the company can say it is a trademark.

This means people can use the characters but it must be done in a way that people do not mistake the work as being from Disney.

Winnie-the-pooh as a serial killer
For example, the original stories and characters of A.A. Milne's "Winnie-the-Pooh" (1926) joined the public domain at the beginning of 2022.

But Disney's iconic image of the character, the yellow bear with a red T-shirt that first appeared in a short animated feature in 1966, is still under copyright. The entertainment giant also maintains a hold on several trademarks related to the popular teddy, which restricts the use of the character's image on products.

Testing the limits of Disney's stronghold on its copyright linked to the character, "Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey" is a horror film set to be released this year. The film re-imagines A.A. Milne's character as a serial killer.

"We knew what [Disney's] copyright was and what they've done," director Rhys Waterfield told Variety. "So we did as much as we could to make sure [the film] was only based on the 1926 version of it."

Apart from the name, the honey-loving bear couldn't be mistaken for Disney's. Pooh wears a lumberjack suit and his facial traits are distorted.

Dead trademarks: From Escalator to Thermos
If a trademark becomes a generic term for a class of products or services, that entity can lose its right to say it is their trademark.

This is why in 2013 Google said it would crackdown on consumers using "google" as a generic verb when they weren't actually using Google's search engine.

"A trademark owner wants it both ways," says Ginsburg. "They want the word to be a household name, so long as people can keep two ideas in their head at one time — that Google is synonymous with search but that Google is a particular company that does search."

Famous examples of brands and products that became generic terms include Aspirin, Escalator and Thermos.

"There's actually a whole lot of dead trademarks that lost their connection, often because the trademark owner didn't properly police the use of the mark — the word stopped meaning an individual brand," explained Ginsburg.

When a trademark's validity is put into question, survey techniques are used to determine whether people associate the trademark with a particular brand or product.

Why does copyright expire?
If a person goes to the effort of creating an original piece of work, one might think they should obtain the rights in perpetuity. So why do authors and inventors only receive limited ownership rights?

The patent and copyright clause of the US Constitution states that the Congress shall have power "to promote the progress of science and useful arts, by securing for limited times to authors and inventors the exclusive right to their respective writings and discoveries."

"So how do you promote the progress of knowledge? First you get people to create works and then you ensure those works become widely available. And ultimately, putting works in the public domain makes them fully available," said Ginsburg.

In 1998, an additional 20 years were added on to copyright terms in the US. Before that, it lasted the life of the author plus 50 years. This gave Disney an additional 20 years of protection for the original Mickey Mouse.

Germany led the way for this extension of copyright as one of the first countries in the European Union (EU) to increase copyright to life plus 70 years.

When the EU harmonized and adopted the same copyright standards EU-wide, they made that conditional on reciprocity, meaning that US works would not get the extra 20 years of protection in the EU unless the US extended its copyright protection by 20 years, said Ginsburg.

"The EU being a very large market for US works, that was I think what was ultimately more persuasive than lobbying efforts of any particular industries," Ginsburg said.

Looks like several counties will ban the new Thor too, because Tessa Thomason’s character Valkyrie is revealed as LGBTQ+.

Too much woke rubbish

You don't like stories about people who are different to you?

Wokeness extends to ensuring that Brit-Pakistani actors get to play roles too. Without wokeness, our Riz Ahmed would not have come to the fore.

I am all for diversity in the movie industry. What I meant was the forced, awkward wokeness to push the agenda. Sick of it.

Diversity = Wokeness

You think racists don’t call diversity forced agenda pushing? They do.

Liberals have been pushing their facist agenda for decades now, and now we're at the pinnacle of their propaganda.

If you don't agree with the warped and sickening liberal ideological viewpoint then you're a racist.

Disney share price is on the plunge because parents are sick of the ** pushed by Disney.

Liberals are now targeting children! We must resist and fight this wretched disease!

On another note, Paramount have scored their biggest grossing movie of all time with Top Gun 2. The success is attributed to the fact the movie isn't woke, doesn't pander to politics, doesn't push a political narrative, and is good old fashion family fun.

I hope and pray movie studios are paying attention!

Hmm hardly any push, 5 mins of it at best where they just let us know characters are gay in a humorous way.

That's the reason Top Gun 2 is so good? Nothing to do with one of the world's biggest actors reprising his most blockbuster role combined with breathtaking visuals and stunts? Gold medal for mental gymnastics.

If you want to talk highest-grossing, 4 of the top 6 of all time are Avengers: Endgame, Star Wars Episode VII, Avengers: Infinity War and Spiderman NWH. 4 Disney films accused by the uncle brigade of pedaling the "woke" agenda.

I can assure you movie studios paid attention to that.

I was referring to Paramount pictures; and while nostalgia played a role, the anti-wokeness and political agenda of TG2 ensured success, sequels are rarely a success to the original. Just head over to IMDB and read the user reviews on why they liked TG2.

And yeah, comic books appeal more to the masses than some fighter jet movie, which makes TG2 in a league of its own.

Just saw that deaf character Echo from Hawkeye who was Alaqua Cox is deaf in real life as well, perfect casting!

If this is what Disney means by woke, will absolutely support it, well done to them.

Echo is getting her own series and Daredevil will feature in it awesome!!

Disney will launch a new ad-supported streaming service in the US in December, as it overtakes Netflix in the race for paid subscribers.

The firm reported 221.1 million subscribers across its three streaming platforms at the start of July.

That put it just ahead of Netflix, which has been losing customers.

But Disney warned that its loss of streaming rights for cricket in India would reduce its subscriber growth compared to previous forecasts.

The firm, which also owns adult television streaming platform Hulu and the sports-focused ESPN+, said demand for its Disney+ product remained strong.

Pandemic lockdowns provided a boost to streaming services like Disney, but the easing of Covid restrictions doesn't seem to be preventing it attracting new customers.

The company added 14.4 million Disney+ subscribers in the quarter, many of them outside of the US - far more than analysts had expected.

Later this year it will launch a new ad-funded service, which will still be charged at the current subscription rate of $7.99. The charge for the ad-free service will rise to $10.99 per month.

The firm plans to launch its ad-funded service outside the US next year.

Executives said they do not expect the rise in prices to put off customers over the long term. The firm is also seeing strong interest from companies hoping to advertise on the new service, they said.

"We are in a position of strength with record upfront advertising commitment," chief executive Bob Chapek told analysts in a conference call to discuss the firm's financial results.

Disney's subscriber gains have come at a hefty cost, with its streaming business losing $1.1bn in the quarter.

Executives said they expect losses to peak this year, In the meantime, a strong rebound in attendance at its theme parks since the worst of the pandemic has provided the firm with a large financial cushion.

Total revenues in the April-June period jumped 26% from last year, pushing profits to $1.5bn.

Shares in the company jumped more than 6% in after-hours trade after the firm shared its results.

Paolo Pescatore, analyst at PP Foresight, called it a "pivotal moment in the streaming wars" saying Disney had more room to grow than arch-rival Netflix.

Netflix lost nearly one million accounts in the most recent quarter, putting its subscriber total at 220.67 million.

The results "firmly underline my belief that Disney is at a different phase of growth to Netflix", said Mr Pescatore. "There are still millions of users to acquire as it continues to expand into new markets and rolls out new blockbuster shows".
