Often actors who portray roles in the sphere of drama/thriller/crime genre's tend to be awarded for their fantastic performances, do excellent comedy performances get overlooked and have we undervalued ones ability to make us laugh ?
Beyond awards, when it comes to the greatest actors ever as well; it's not rare to not find the great comedy actors in history in top 5 lists or even top 10's at times.
Obviously there are some actors who are very versatile and have performed exceptionally well across all genre's and it's understandable why they would be ranked so highly but in situations where you have a specific actor who specialises in comedy or drama/crime/thriller; often you'd find that the comedy performance is overlooked ahead of the performance in drama/crime/thriller.
Although it has to be said that in recent times there's not a lot which stands out when it comes to comedy but generally speaking on the whole what are your thoughts.
