Do the following players warrant a return to the Test team?

The players I am thinking of are:

• Fawad Alam
• Umar Amin
• Usman Salahuddin (yes he is in the squad but should be make the playing XI?)
• Ahmed Shehzad
• Fakhar Zaman
• Mohammad Hafeez (not a long term option but his skills could be useful in Asia)
• Imad Wasim

We all have our favorites and preferences so please discuss!

It seems like we do have a lot of options for the opening spots and the middle order so hopefully the players will be looking over their shoulders and ensuring they consistently perform.

I foresee Shehzad and Amin coming back soon but don't expect much from them. I would love to see Fawad getting a chance but don't think that will happen. Salahuddin is the only one in this group who in my opinion deserves a long run.

Imad Wasim is not good enough for test level. Instead the one player who I feel deserves a chance and who might help with Pakistan's team balance is Amir Yamin. As for Hafeez, the only way he can be of use is if he plays at 7 as a specialist bowler in the kind of role that Dilruwan is playing for SL (but don't see it happening).

Fakhar Zaman did well in FC matches against England Lions last year in English conditions in June, this year making a brilliant debut in ODIs, so he should also be invested in as well

Going Forward if we want to play at modern rate than we have to set a minimum benchmark of 50 strike rate and 40 Average in FC to get a chance for national teams we don't need turtle army anymore, I think our Ideal combo For UK tests should be

5) Shafiq
6) Sarfraz
7) Fahim/Yamin
8) Amir
9) Yasir
10) Wahab
11) Hassan
Squad:

And if we can find even better performer from this QEA than we can get them in as well.

Usman is the one who should play now and I think umar akmal should be given a chance now but on one condition only if he scores heavily in domestic tournament and then he can occupy the no.6 position.

Cant say who warrants a place in the team but babar, aamir, openers (maybe not sami aslam as much)need to be replaced. I think the game was lost by the management itself. Did they not learn from the 1st game that we should have gone with an extra spinner on these tracks. We've always played spinners on uae tracks and now we've been beaten by a team that was whitewashed recently. I still think sarfi is a good choice for captain but he has to stand up for his decisions and not let mickey dictate hos terms.

As much as i wanted hafeez not playing these test matches, it seems that somehow they will always find a place back as those who are given chances are not willing to capitalise.

I still dont understand what did usman salahuddin/ mohd asghar learn in these 2 tests. I honestly believe asghar could have been a trump card here and somehow mickey still prefers his blue eyed boys wahab and aamir. For god's sake pls use aamir for ltd overs only and that too to contain runs. Its been long since you would treat him as your spearhead

realistically shafiq or babar is not going anywhere. First of all it was unnecessary to shuffle the batting order which exceeded expectations in all away tours after Azhar start to open..

the batting order should have been

Azhar (if he is injured then, Shehzad as he had a good record in UAE and good WORLDXI series recently)
Sami
Babar (No reason to drop him down after playing at crucial no.3 in all away tours but not in UAE)
Haris
Asad
Usman
Sarfraz
Yasir
Bilal Asif (srilanka had lefties in dimuth, niroshan and thirimanne)
Amir (if amir was injured, wouldnt have selected him.. would have played Hamza)

Fakhar zaman and imad are not suitable to test cricket..Infact imad has done nothing good even in odis...I dint know he thay are playing him in every odi when he hardly bowls his 10 overs in any match. More over his batting is not that good. he is a player who can score 10 20 runs and rarely he will score 50.May b 1 out of 10 innings. I would pick haris suhail over him in odiz against srilanka.
Fawad alam will defnitly b in the squad for nxt tet series. both the current openers will probably make way for ahmed shahzad and umar amin/salman butt
