Ronaldo has won multiple laurels in his career. He is Euro 2016 champions, Uefa Nations league winner 2018-2019, 5 time Ballon d'or winner, has won leagues in different countries, also a serial ucl winner and most importantly the highest goal scorer of all times in history of fifa Internationals. Does he still need a fifa wc glory to be branded as GOAT of this generation?

You rate him ahead of Pele and Maradona? Ronaldo is definitely the GOAT, in his own mind that is.
Yes. Messi is the best attacking player of all time and by some distance. Both Pele and Maradona have their own legacies and impact on their nations and football in general so this is no disrespect to their achievements, but it is difficult to see anyone like Messi ever again.

There were question marks over his leadership but he put that to bed over the last couple of years. He has been a true talisman for his country.

Messi is the GOAT. Ronaldo is not even close.
I don't think so. You should have named Pele to make a comparison with Ronaldo. Messi is no GOAT the reason being simply that he can thrive only in barca like environment when he got the same ambience in Argentina squad he delivered and when he doesn't get so he just fails miserably like in psg. Not that case with Ronaldo.

You say he can only thrive in Barcelona but then give an example of him thriving for Argentina

Sounds like mental gymnastics

He thrived in the biggest sporting competition in the world, you Ronaldo fans can no longer cling on to that weak comfort blanket you stuck to for years claiming he can only do it for Barca

Bro you sound like a typical messi fan boy. But you should know in case of Argentina, it was the heroics of Emilio Martinez not messi that sailed argentina to glory. And mind you Argentina has been a different beast since Martinez arrival not messi.

Unlike Ronaldo fans who think he alone does it all (whilst they discredit all the great players he played with) I don't do the same with Messi's team mates. I agree Martinez was brilliant, the saves in the shoot out and then THAT save of Kolo Muani was incredible. Plus the introduction of Alvarez/Fernandez into the side was pivotal.

I don't say Messi did it all by himself but he was their best player and he was the leader that united that Argentina side, shattering the false notion that Messi isn't a leader

Yep, helping take your national team to a world cup win is a defining moment. Not only are they great players themselves, they inspire a team of players from various clubs to come together for the country. The only Ronaldo to achieve that is the Brazilian one.

Ronaldo’s greatest achievement is that he shared a stage with Messi. That’s it.

As an individual player there is no comparison between the two. Both are elite goal scorers, arguably the two greatest goal scorers ever. The rate at which they scored goals and for so long was staggering.

However, Messi is also one of the greatest if not the greatest playmaker ever. That is what makes him so special. Ronaldo isn’t even 1% the playmaker, the creator Messi is.

Ronaldo without goals is nothing more than a decent player; Messi without goals is still one of the greatest ever to touch a football and that is what separates the two.

People talk about Ronaldo doing it in different leagues. Firstly, that is no criteria. If that was the case than someone like SAF cannot be considered a great manager because he never left his comfort zone of British football.

He should have gone to Italy or Spain and proved himself. But of course that would be dumb thing to say just like it is a dumb thing to say that Messi should have proved himself elsewhere.

Secondly, what is the point of playing in different leagues when you are only playing for the best teams in that league?

Ronaldo played for United when they were in their prime and the strongest club in England. His peak for United started as soon Mourinho’s reign came to an end and United emerged as the dominant club.

He then left for Madrid, the richest and most powerful club in Spain where he only won 2 league titles in 10 years because he couldn’t outshine Messi, and the only time they faced off in UCL, Messi knocked him out.

After Madrid he went to Juventus when they were at their peak and winning Serie A year in year out. They didn’t even need Ronaldo.

Going to different leagues and proving yourself is only worth bragging about when you go to a weak team and make them strong, like Maradona did with Napoli.

Do you really think Messi wouldn’t have won it all with 2006-2009 United, or 2018-20 Juventus or 2009-2018 Madrid?

The only question mark on Messi was whether he could deliver a World Cup for his country. Since 2016, Ronaldo fans bragged about the Euro 2016 win even though he didn’t play in the final and wasn’t even a contender for the player of the tournament.

Messi won Copa and was the best player and then he won the World Cup and was also the best player. Let’s not forget that he picked up a World Cup Golden Ball in 2014. Ronaldo has never come close to winning a Golden Ball at a World Cup.

Ronaldo’s lasting memory in international football was getting benched in the 2022 World Cup and his replacement (Ramos) scoring a hat-trick while Messi won the very same World Cup.

There are only three contenders for the greatest footballers of all time: Messi, Maradona and Pele and between the three Messi is the clear winner. Ronaldo is not even in contention.

Well not denying the brilliance of messi but if ronaldo had the luxury of having the services of much capable and stronger squad like Argentina had over the years then he would have won atleast 2 wc and multiple copa america titles with it. The only misery for Ronaldo was that he had a decent team rather than an exceptional one like messi had.

Portugal has been a strong team since 2016. Ronaldo had two World Cups to deliver but he couldn’t.

Argentina is not an exceptional team without Messi. There is no way they would have won what they did in the last 2-3 years without Messi. He makes them exceptional.

Sure they have a good keeper now and some good players have emerged in recent years, but Argentina without Messi would still be inferior to Portugal.

The Argentina team that Messi took to 2014 final was weaker than most of the Portugal squads in the Ronaldo era.

How is Cristiano Ronaldo ‘number 1'? Former coach reveals

“Coaching Juve was a great experience. It was a journey with a young and new team," says Andrea Pirlo

Cristiano Ronaldo is among the best footballers in history, but he’s always compared to Argentine great Lionel Messi. However, some experts believe the Portuguese is the greatest, while others back the Inter Miami star to be the best.

But despite this debate, there seems to be a consensus among people: Roandlo is disciplined and has high professional standards.

Andrea Pirlo was the coach of Italian football club Juventus in the 2020-2021 season, and during his stint there, he coached several players — including Ronaldo.

During his three years (2018-2021) at the club, the Portuguese star greatly contributed to the club’s reputation and its fan following. On social media, Juve’s collective following doubled, from 50m to 113m followers, according to Forbes.

Although the star was not able to help the side secure a UEFA Champions League title, he did lead them to two Serie A league titles in three seasons.

The former coach, Pirlo, experienced Ronaldo’s dedication and professionalism firsthand.

“Coaching Juve was a great experience. It was a journey with a young and new team; I have no regrets,” Prilo said, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

“Coaching Ronaldo makes you understand how he becomes number 1 in the world. He is an exemplary professional in everything: from eating, to recovery, to the training itself.”

Ronaldo helped Juve grow, not only in terms of fan following, but he brought the club revenue as well.

“In his first season, Juve’s revenue grew by some €58m ($68.4m) from the usual sources (stadium, commercial deals, merchandising); the club sold 1 million shirts in 2018/19, more than double compared to the previous year,” Forbes reported.

In the second, Juve’s existing deals with Jeep and Adidas were renegotiated due to the presence of Ronaldo, rising from $20 million to $49.5 million (Jeep) and from $27 million to $60 million (Adidas).

Ex-Man United star declares Ronaldo football's 'GOAT', drops Messi

As football fans and critics continue to fuel the football's greatest of all time (GOAT) debate revolving around Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, former Manchester United goalkeeper Tom Heaton believes that the Al Nassr striker surpasses the Argentine star on the football pitch.

Speaking to MUTV, Heaton said: "In my opinion, the GOAT is Cristiano [...] What he has achieved has been incredible," goal.com reported.

Reflecting on his experience with Ronaldo as his teammate, Heaton said that the Portuguese striker has preserved the same hunger and drive to succeed and dominate the pitch as he had when he joined the United early in his career.

The Al Nassr star and Messi are often pitted against one another by football fans and critics alike with some favouring the Portuguese star, whereas some consider the Argentine striker as football's best-ever player.

In a career spanning more than a decade, Ronaldo, now 38, has played for various clubs including Real Madrid, Juventus and others and recently reached a landmark milestone by featuring in the 1,200th match of his career.

During his first tenure with United, Ronaldo not only scored a remarkable tally of 118 goals but also managed to bag Premier League and Champions League titles along with his first Golden Balls.

Is Lionel Messi jealous of Cristiano Ronaldo?

Football greats Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo always remain in the headlines due to their amazing on-ground performances, which they have proven with the numerous awards they share between themselves.

But while they respect each other on the field, is it possible that they might be jealous of one another?

Well, in his recent podcast, English footballer Rio Ferdinand made a startling revelation about Messi, an Argentine footballer who now plays for Inter Miami.

Daily Mail reported that Ferdinand claimed that Messi unfollowed Argentine footballer Alejandro Garnacho on Instagram just because he considers Ronaldo his idol — despite the World Cup-winning captain being his national side’s teammate.

“You know what I like about him? He doesn't give a ****. Garnacho told me that Messi unfollowed him just because he makes no secret of preferring Ronaldo,” the former footballer revealed.

"He comes out, don't care, ‘I'm a Ronaldo man’. Who's the GOAT? Ronaldo. (Even) when he's in the Argentina squad."

In April 2022, football fans claimed that Messi had unfollowed Garnacho on the photo and video-sharing platform after he posted an image of Ronaldo, calling him the best.

Is the GOAT debate over for good? Cristiano Ronaldo is nowhere to be seen as eternal rival Lionel Messi picks up his seventh GOAL50 award

Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi - Luis Figo once said it was like being asked to choose between truffles and caviar. As far as the former Portugal captain was concerned, it was really just a question of taste.

Does one prefer the perfect physical specimen that is Ronaldo, a relentless goalscoring machine that looks as if he were constructed in a lab and yet is, in fact, a living, breathing testament to the merits of human endeavour?

Or Messi, a sprite-like figure blessed with a heavenly talent that enables him to not only play the beautiful game but control it, meaning every single time he sets foot onto the pitch, seemingly impossible feats become not just possible - but probable?

Tuesday, Messi was announced as the winner of the 2023 GOAL50 vote. It was a record-extending seventh success for the Argentine - and it came as no surprise given his heroic and historic exploits at last season's World Cup in Qatar.

What was shocking, though, was the fact that Ronaldo wasn't even in the running. After finishing 11th last year, the five-time winner didn't even make the longlist in 2023, hammering home just how far his stock has fallen over the past 12 months.

So, is Ronaldo done? Will we never again see him challenging for the game's major trophies and most prestigious prizes? Or could 2024 bear witness to a sensational Ronaldo revival?

Is Cristiano Ronaldo secretly planning to lead Portugal in FIFA World Cup 2026?

Cristiano Ronaldo, initially expected to conclude his World Cup journey in 2022, now harbours aspirations for the 2026 edition.

Following Portugal's exit in the 2022 quarterfinals, where emotions ran high for Ronaldo, the football icon expressed a desire to extend his international career.

Portugal's coach, Roberto Martinez, revealed the possibility of Ronaldo's participation in 2026, driven by his ambitious goal of achieving 250 national team appearances.

Currently holding 205 caps and 128 goals, Ronaldo aims to play for at least another three years.

Additionally, he inches closer to the remarkable milestone of 1000 career goals, with 872 goals to his name, facilitated by his presence in Saudi Arabia.

He completed 200 matches for the national side in a Euro 2024 qualifier match against Liechtenstein — the highest by any player at the international level — is "interested" in reaching the 250-matches mark, Sportskeeda reported, citing Martinez's interview with former Arsenal winger Freddie Ljungberg.

"I said [to Ronaldo] is 200 caps something that interests you or not? He said, '250 interests me'," Martinez said citing his conversation with the star footballer.

The previous record for the most international appearances was held by Kuwait's Bader Al-Mutawa who featured in 196 games.

He is one of the greatest of all time. World Cup trophy or no World Cup trophy.

He plays for Portugal. Hard for him to win a World Cup. Portugal is not a top-tier team.

Didn’t you say ICC trophy means a lot? Also if Portugal can win Euro they should had tried to win the WC.

He can’t be greatest without it because individual performances actually carry more weight in soccer than cricket ODI.

Football/Soccer and cricket are not same.

Soccer has 15-20 high quality teams. Competition is higher. No comparison.

Not a football follower but would still want to add my 2 cents here

Alot of ronaldo fans used to go on about international trophies when Ronaldo won the euro. Infact, they had set the international trophy as the benchmark of leadership and the GOAT status. Everytime Argentina lost the world cup, Ronaldo fans bought in the Euro.

But than when Messi won the Copa America and than won the World Cup, ever since than alot of Ronaldo fans have started to to do the comparison again and started to question whether World Cup glory should even be used to judge a players greatness

Cristiano Ronaldo three goals from Saudi history as Al Nassr star looks to cap off 2023 with another impressive record

The 38-year-old announced he was stepping away from elite level football last New Year when his poor relationship with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag saw the pair come to an unhappy divorce.

That came after a stellar return in 2021/22, with Ronaldo keen to prove he still has it in the Middle East after falling out of favour at Old Trafford.

He’s done exactly that, taking the league by storm as their marquee player, triggering an influx of summer moves for a number of elite European talents.

That’s already more than Harry Kane [52], Kylian Mbappe [52] and Erling Haaland [50], and now he needs a hat-trick against Al Taawon in his final game of the year to make history.

Currently on 33 goals in 33 games in the Saudi Pro League, a final hat-trick of 2023 would see Ronaldo overtake Abderrazak Hamdallah’s record of 35 scored in one calendar year, also for Al Nassr.

And there’s every chance Ronaldo could do it, too, having scored two in his last outing against fellow Public Investment Fund-owned Al Ittihad.

Cristiano Ronaldo reveals surprise next step once football career ends

Cristiano Ronaldo says it is his "dream" to own several clubs in the future as he celebrates his 40th birthday.

The Portugal superstar has given no indication whatsoever of retiring yet, and continues to represent his country as well as playing for Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.

However, he has revealed he does not see himself coaching or managing, but instead having his own stable of clubs.

"It doesn't make a lot of sense to be director of a club. If I can be a club owner, why would I be a manager, sporting director or CEO?," told Portuguese television station Canal 11.

"That is a dream of mine and I am sure I'll be a club owner. And I'll tell you more. I hope to have not just one club, but several clubs."

Ronaldo would be following in the footsteps of his Brazilian namesake, who owns a majority stake in Spanish side Real Valladolid.

Other big names who have moved into ownership include former England captain David Beckham, who co-owns Inter Miami.

Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe bought a majority stake in French club Caen last summer.

Ronaldo is the all-time leading goalscorer in men’s international football and the only man to exceed 200 caps for any country in the sport.
