[VIDEOS] Why Pakistan cricket team needs a coaching stint from the great Wasim Akram?

I don't think this is going to happen because we are likely to face a personality clash between him and the PCB chairman. Wasim would want to have most of the power but it is very unlikely that any PCB chairman would let this happen.
Yep no PCB chairman would afford him that much liberty that he would like to have. He had the best case under Ramiz chairmanship and Imran Khan's premiership but he spurned that opportunity.

Barishal rubbish Wasim Akram's claims of Miller being paid $150,000 in BPL

Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) outfit Fortune Barishal management said Pakistan legend Wasim Akram's claims of David Miller being paid a fee of $150,000 to play for the franchise in the latest edition of the tournament are false.

Miller played three matches for Fortune Barishal in the 10th edition of the tournament, helping them seal their maiden BPL title. The South African batter, who could score only 47 runs for Barishal this season, hit the winning runs in the final against Comilla Victorians in Mirpur on March 1.

Recently, during an episode of 'The Pavilion' on A Sports, Wasim Akram revealed that Miller was "offered $150,000 to play three matches" and that he also "postponed his wedding" to play the final for Barishal.

"No, these [information] are not true at all. These are absolutely untrue and are false info," Fortune Barishal owner Mizanur Rahman told The Daily Star regarding Wasim Akram's claims.

"He stayed because of his emotion [the emotional bond that he had created with the Barishal team members], not just because of money. Was Wasim Akram with the team? I know how much he [Miller] got paid. So, these claims are not true," Mizanur added.

Meanwhile, Fortune Barishal team manager Sabbir Khan informed The Daily Star that Miller never even postponed his wedding.

"Mizanur bhai knows about the money as he dealt with that aspect. But one thing I can assure is that his [Miller's] wedding was not postponed. It was scheduled for March 9 previously and it took place on that date. He wanted to skip the final and leave a bit early to spend some time with family, but eventually, he left just after one game," Sabbir clarified.

"After we ensured our spot in the final, Mizanur bhai spoke with him and then he agreed [to play the final]. His wedding was scheduled for March 9 and the [BPL] final was on March 1. If he [Wasim Akram] checked Instagram then he would have seen that the wedding took place on March 9," Sabbir added.

Sabbir also informed that despite initially wanting to skip the final, Miller stayed back mainly because of his relationship with the Barishal teammates.

"He [Miller] might be a very aggressive batter on the field, but he is actually a very emotional person. He had a great rapport with the Barishal teammates and maybe that's why he stayed back.

"Also, it is ridiculous to assume that he was paid almost USD 50,000, which is almost equal to 60-65 lac Taka, for every match [as Miller played just three games]. No way is this possible," Sabbir said.

Wasim bhai, please control yourself a little. You say anything in the heat of the moment.

In my opinion there is no need to run after a foreign bowling coach and Wasim Akram should have been given a chance specially when numerous experiments are taking place so why not this one?

Wasim Akram won't accept a role.

It seems he has arrived in Sri Lanka

I think Wasim Akram knows that after the case of his fixing, he got away big time, and if he comes into coaching Pakistan cricket and if results are not good, fans will bring up his fixing and more things might start coming out with ex players wanting attention revealing every kind of story.

Akram had a colorful life, and probably doesnt want it to come out. He did admit he did cocaine, so makes you wonder what else he did, or what Reham wrote had any truth in it.

Akram is smart, and should stay away from a coaching career to protect the legacy he has.

Never seen him this involved with Pakistan.

Good on Lanka hope they learn something.

Wasim doesn’t have the chops to take on a high pressure job and face media scrutiny.

He is always on the lookout for easy money and ceremonial positions. This is why no one needs to listen to him when he is criticizing Pakistan on tv.

First develop the courage to take matter into your own hands then criticize. This is why Waqar deserves more respect because he has always made himself available for Pakistan in spite of being subjected to heavy criticism and vitriol every time he has taken over.

Wasim doesn’t have the chops to take on a high pressure job and face media scrutiny.

Wasim has never been formally approached by the PCB to take up any coaching role for the senior team or any other NCA-based position. The only thing he has ever collaborated on with the PCB is in 2006 he did hunt for heroes and in 2013 he consulted for Junaid and Irfan before the India tour. That's about it!

Whether he would take the job or not is another question, but officially as far as I know, he has never been approached for even a junior coaching gig

As per reports:

Former Pakistan cricket captain Wasim Akram has declined an offer to take a position at the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Akram was approached to serve as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) or advisor to the chairman, but he cited other commitments as the reason for his unavailability for a full-time role.

Naqvi contacted Akram, offering him the role of CEO or personal advisor. This position would require full-time dedication, overseeing all cricketing affairs within the PCB.

However, Akram, who resides permanently in Karachi and frequently travels to Australia for family reasons, expressed his inability to relocate to Lahore.

Akram assured the chairman that he would remain available to support Pakistan cricket as needed, without any compensation. During their discussion, Naqvi shared his future plans for the PCB, which Akram found impressive. Following Akram's decision.

It’s time for the 6 foot 2 inch Wasim Akram to enter the dressing room and put the house in order.

He must be given COMPLETE AUTHORITY

Short of making talented cricketers appear out of thin air, there's nothing you can expect of him.

He's not even a certified coach, lol.

He is good as a mentor and that's about it.

Won't turn common rubble into polished diamonds.
