I was watching all of Amir's wickets during the Champions Trophy and I noticed how Junaid was always the least excited amongst all the players whenever Amir took a wicket. That aside, after the final he was asked about Amir's spell and whilst praising his spell, he quickly resulted to defending his own bowling mentioning he took some wickets in the end and also maintained the pressure at the start.

We all know Amir has been a huge obstacle to Junaid's career, whether it is from the start of his career, when he was always compared to Amir and picked as his replacement or after Junaid's injury when he was not able to make a comeback into the team due to Amir's superiority.

It is very much understandable if Junaid is feeling insecure because of Amir but what do you PPers think? Could it be the case or am I looking too much into this?

he does feel he should have been recalled earlier....maybe that filters through in conversations.

Competition is always good and gets the best from fast bowlers. Wasim and waqar are prime examples. The key is to not let the situation trip you over. Waqar came after wasim and at his pomp was over performing wasim by miles. Wasim knew his qualities and stick to what he did best. Their tiff provided for some memorable wins for Pakistan. Now they are all patched up and best of friends.

Hopefully Junaid will tackle it professionally as well. He knows rumman raees is also breathing down his and Amir's neck.

Talk about the Wasim-Waqar rivalry. Now we will have a Amir-Junaid rivalry, both complement each other well.

It was under Waqar where Junaid was discarded and Wahab became the blue eyed boy, Waqar even mentioned that Wahab is like a son to him. When questioned Junaid mentioned that he fell out with Waqar and Moin and that he spoke his mind and did not take orders blindly. End result Junaid out of the Pak team for 2 plus years, talk about destroying careers. That is why Waqar should never ever be involved in Pakistan Cricket again. He can take his ego and keep it in Australia

Hopefully it's just your projection on him.

What are you talking about. When he arrived in his hometown and was surrounded by journalists he was asked that your father wanted you to pick up Kohli's wicket but Amir ended up doing it, how did you feel about that and he responded that when Amir dismissed Kohli he felt as happy as he had done himself in India. He also added that whether Amir picks up a wicket or Hasan picks up a wicket he feels the same way because it helps the team win.

Junaid Khan got the job done in CT. He contributed well and that, as a Pak fan, is relaxing to see.

Amir is on a different level tho. Crème de la crème.

Hopefully he and Amir will get 100% fit, so they can unleash themselves without fear of injuries.

Amir, Junaid, Hasan: Insha'Allah, all three of them will wreck real havoc in WC'19.

He may feel insecure which is natural but the important thing is that mgmt. should back him continuously and make him aware of his role its because of his tight spells Amir has been more effective

This makes my argument even stronger actually. Like I said he is always defending himself when Amir is mentioned.

People bashing waqar should know he always talked about wahab' technical flaws and his bad wrist position and actually kept him out of the team prior to the 2015 World Cup as well. It was only after that one off spell against Australia that waqar gave him a consistent run, only for him to underperform again and again.

Wahab should only play tests in my opinion. He leaks way too many runs.

People like to read what they want to hear.. If someone wants to believe there is a jealousy issue they will read your post and say he mentioned himself in post regarding Amir=jealousy..

Junaid was in the CT 2017 team of the tournament and Amir was not. Amir was fantastic in the matches against SL and India but Junaid has been consistent with his 8 wickets throughout the tournament.

Not at all, Junaid replacing Wahab was one of main reasons for Pakistan winning CT. Finally we can put Wahab WC 2015 spell behind us.

Junaid is a proud man and I dont think he likes being someones sidekick , he took the burden of pakistans pace attack in the deserts of UAE. Don't be surprised if he outperforms mohammad amir in the coming year , the drive which pushes him is pretty strong.

He's not in Amir's shadow. It's like asking does Hazlewood feel like he's in Starc's shadow? Seeing as the latter has more popularity?

maybe there is a lil underlying tension there as Junaid picked up the mantle from Amir when he was banned. And was carrying our pace attack from 2011-2014. Then he got his knee injuries lost pace n his form was poor when he came back. Combined with Amir returning n being treated as the Prodigal Son of Pakistan Cricket.

while someone like Junaid whos stayed clean is treated like an after thought.

wouldnt be surprised if Junaid is a lil bitter over that. Although this is mere speculation.

Junaid made team of the tournament. Deservedly. Comeback king after a career ending injury.

Any debates regarding him end right there and then. Appreciate or don't post.

So mentally strong. The guy is a champion and deserves as much credit as amir and hasan.

Over the moon for him.

Wait till he has one bad day in the office all these PP experts will come out of their caves and call him mediocre and ask for his immediate expulsion from the squad. Some even stooped so low during the tournament that they began bumping or creating speculative threads about his chucking. So the entirety of the world's cricket experts, umps and refs aside all these biomechanic experts on PP can see the chuck in Junaid's action.

I've analysed his action.. and I assure you he bowls at 12 degrees each stock delivery... with the slower ball at 15 degrees

He is not having relationship that he feel insecure.. .thats cricket and you have to play your best..dont mKe threads like this...thats look lame...

As a general point let me say that I think it is great for Junaid's career that he has amir with him now.

I get why Junaid may have been annoyed because forget that overall he has been a succes for Pakistan in tests and odis, he has achievements even prior to this CT that no one could take away from him : being a driving force for our series wins in SA and India.

However the more i saw of junaid the more I saw a bowler who struggled mentally when he was the main guy. This is why i think his domestic form can be awful, and why combined with his injures he collapsed from 2013 -2014, which was also when irfan started going downhill.

I think Osaman Samuddin wrote really good article during the tour of Australia stating how Junaid has from a young age been under Amir's shadow, but i dont think there is a Waqar- Wasim level rivalary there. At one stage those two hated each other.

Im sure Amir is happy he has junaid opening the bowling and vice versa

It's natural

Junaid is a good few levels below Amir

Don't see any reason why Junaid should be jealous of Aamir. Overall Junaid had a better tournament than Aamir. Aamir had a great final but Junaid bowled a brilliant spell against Srilanka which kept us in the tournament. I think Junaid can be as useful as Aamir if he can up his pace a little.

Just saw his press conference after returning home. He seems genuinely happy and even said that it doesn't matter who gets the wicket important is Pakistan wins.

Great attitude shown.

junaid first spells are very ordinary but his second spells are brilliant, dont know why but if this guy sorts this issue, he can certainly become the best pacer in the team

Being the third highest wicket taker after your own teammate and Josh "feast on Kiwi tail" Hazelwood is an achievement in itself and Juni should be proud of himself.

We never would have won the tournament had Wahab continued to play and Junaid was confined to the bench. Juni is an important member of our pace trioka.

Neesham, Santner, Broom, Anderson and Guptill are some tailenders.

Could be that he feels with both being left arm pacemen only one can play. Amir seems to be the "laadla" of the side at the moment. Thus far Junaid has not shown any signs of jealousy or anger over it. With Amir's performance in the final he currently has the right to be our number one choice.

That spell in the final only Amir could have conjured, I do believe that, and everything is for nought unless you win the final. But over the series Junaid was inexplicably, delightfully invaluable, what with Amir not picking up wickets. Curious player.

if he's an insecure person (which none of us know for a fact) then he will feel threatened

the fact is Amir is a significantly better bowler and the alpha dog in the pace attack.

So far Junaid has understood his role, hopefully that continues and the situation doesn't deteriorate (there is a history of this with Wasim/Waqar or Akhtar/Asif...)

Only Guptill can be defined as a batsman on that list.
Going by that Junaid took the wickets of:

2 tailenders vs SA (Rabada and Morris)
2 Tailenders vs SL (Thisara Perera and D. De Silva, the latter has a list A average of 25)
1 tailender vs IND (Jadeja)

At the end of the day wickets are wickets and Hazleood took 9 from 3 games, keeping in mind that he didn't finish his quota in a game due to lost overs.

Juniad actually has better old ball skills then Amir however both are very good and should be first choice in odi's. In tests I would roatate Amir and Juniad.

No
He knows he is there to stay and healthy competition will help him immensely.
