Donald Trump - President of the USA's legal troubles

Trump is bad news for Americans. He has caused a lot of damage and you have to be an idiot to not look through his buffoonery. He talks a big game but his methods and his past are anything but.

Biden is a jack*ss but I would take a jacka$$ over something as dangerous as Trump. He has single handedly mainstreamed hatred of minorities and deepened the divisions in the nation. He was great for the economy, yes but his other policies have left a lasting effect on the US.

Biden has surprised and impressed me in the last month.

He clearly understands Congress better than anyone. He has a 50-50 deadlocked Senate, yet has managed to get through environmental legislation and inflation reduction legislation.

Anyone who understands US politics knows that a President generally gets 2 years until the mid-terms to pass whatever laws he is ever going to pass.

And Biden has done it. My only criticism of him is following Trump’s idiotic and morally bankrupt decision to quit Afghanistan and leave the poor people to the Taliban.

Trump also had concerns on the official jackanory of 911. His comments early on have now vanished from the internet.

There is a Deep state in the US, basically CIA and Mossad together. Its impossible for any President to take a big stand, remember what happened to JFK?

The AD is genuis, very simple, direct numbers. Starts in black and white and ends in colour.

This next election will be the most fascinating in world history, not because Biden can match Trump but because they will go to some serious desperate levels to ensure Trump doesnt win. It will also be one of the most important in history, if Biden or any other zombie wins, expect huge world events. It will probably be best to have a plan B to move to for all Europeans and Americans.

Trump was going to declassify the JFK files too!

The so called liberals and champions of free speech shut him down on social media. The same lot that are now after Assange for exposing the truth (next time some western liberals talks about free journalism just point at this hypocrisy).

Biden's own party have lost faith in Biden!

Maybe Trump is the second coming of the Messiah?

Biden is a warmonger , Trump doesnt want a war with another nation.

Biden is completing Trumps wall. Biden also comes across as peado in some videos.

Biden is senile, he doesnt even know his wife name at times or tries to shakes hands with the invisible man. This bloke walks around with the nuclear football.

Its upto the Yanks but most of the world would prefer Trump to be in charge.

Walking around with the nuclear football does not mean that person can use it on a whim. Its not that simple and its a rather simplistic way of looking at things. Biden is not that best president to be around and I have a feeling he would not be president in 2024, it will be either Trump or someone else. I would rather it be someone else.

Do not forget the belter fact, more people have died of Covid under Biden, than under Trump.

Liberals and Democrats wanted Biden, well they got a senile President who is now shaking hands with imaginary people.

Not a day goes by where a Biden gaff is not recorded, but as ever, ZMSM is not plastering this news.

We would be glad if Yanks stay out of our business, causing proxy wars in Europe, destabalising the economy . The Arabs, Chinese and Africans would also prefer Yanks to stay in their land and not bother others but its not reality.

Of course cant push the button while taking a pee.. If there is some sort of attack on Europe or any nuclear issue, Biden has the say. Its complete madness a bloke who cant ride a bike or walk up stairs having such power.

Thankfully the US will soon hit an economic disaster, meaning it will concentrate on its domestic issues rather than ruining the world.

Not to forget his son has been caught red handed in Ukraine helping with bio-labs while snorting coke and hanging with hookers. Very strange this doesnt make the news when its a huge story.

Indeed, Hunter Biden and his laptop, all hacked and released, but ignored by ZMSM.

Biden even held a meeting with 2 Chinese Businessmen in the West Wing, in 2014, in connection with Hunter Biden business comnections in China.

Biden is more corrupt than Trump.

The so called dossier on Trump, turned out to be fake. The so called collusion with Putin, turned out to be fake, but Hunter Biden and his antics are out in the open with proof and the ZMSM and DoJ are turning a blind eye.

Ahh but Clinton’s email server, deleting classified emails, and still lost the election. Beauty!

As a doctor, I can assure you that the deaths from Covid under Biden are in no way surprising:

1. Omicron and Delta are vastly more infectious than the Wuhan variant that Trump encountered.

2. Biden’s term has not seen use of lockdowns as vaccines are available. So the virus spreads more readily anyway.

3. The people who are most responsible for the spread, and almost entirely responsible for deaths under age 70 are Trump supporters who refuse to be vaccinated or to wear masks. He tapped into their general distrust of government, but they won’t follow him into being vaccinated. Over 80% of deaths under the age of 70 are people who had not had three jabs.

To blame Biden for the death toll is absurd.

Why not blame Biden, when Democrats and Liberals were blaming Trump? Why do you change the rules when the argument doesn’t fit your narrative?

Trump’s error, comically for the man who wanted to build a wall, was that he lacked the decisiveness to close his borders like Australia or New Zealand or even Canada. He ended up with a belated partial closure to China once the virus was already in the USA.

If you use the Australian and and New Zealand death rates as a model for what would have happened, the US would be at 100,000 deaths instead of over a million.

And, of course, the strictly closed parts of Australia and New Zealand minimised the need for lockdowns, so their economies did better. At the time the vaccine arrived, the world’s strongest economy was Western Australia with Queensland in third place.

What has Australia/NZ got to do with this?

Biden is completing Trump's wall.

Covid deaths in UK were in decline once lockdowns ended. Do the vaccines against multiple covid variants work better in the UK because Boris was at the helm? Just wondering.

And to think Amreeka boasts the best medicial industry in the world.

Biden has been an abject failure, even after taking multiple Covid vaccines/boosters hinself, he still managed to test positive for Covid last week. Maybe the virus just doesn't like Biden's presidency? :)))

Perhaps you missed the deaths in UK and USA were over exaugurated, noted down incorrectly or fabricated being covid related.

You cant defend the old fool when he himself stated he will 'shut down' the virus.

Biden is also a fan of Fauci, the clown who stated vaccine means no infection.

The UK’s approach to Covid was a disgrace too.

Two right-wing governments incapable of closing their borders when they actually needed to.

Pathetic. They Trump and BoJo talk tough about walls, or Rwanda, but when they really needed to close their borders they failed and both countries have outrageous numbers of unnecessary Covid deaths and avoidable economic damage.

The US attorney general has said he "personally approved" to seek a search warrant on Donald Trump's Florida residence.

In a statement made in Washington DC, Merrick Garland said the Justice Department did "not take the decision lightly".

He confirmed that federal agents searched Mr Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach on Monday to probe whether he illegally removed records from the White House as he was leaving office.

The Justice Department has faced pressure since the raid to provide a public explanation for the search.

Mr Garland added that the department has asked a court to unseal the search warrant, due to "substantial public interest" and have requested to make public the property receipt detailing what agents found inside the estate.

Posting on his social media platform Truth Social, Mr trump said he supported the unsealing of the warrant.

He wrote: "Not only will I not oppose the release of documents related to the unAmerican, unwarranted, and unnecessary raid and break-in of my home in Palm Beach, Florida, Mar-a-Lago, I am going a step further by ENCOURAGING the immediate release of those documents, even though they have been drawn up by radical left Democrats and possible future political opponents, who have a strong and powerful vested interest in attacking me, much as they have done for the last 6 years."

Mr Trump announced the search himself in a statement on Monday, claiming that agents had broken into his safe and said it represented "dark times for our nation".

In response to Mr Garland's remarks, Mr Trump said on social media platform Truth Social that his attorneys and representatives were "cooperating fully".

He added that the government could have had "whatever they wanted, if we had it" and that "very large numbers of agents" raided Mar-a-Lago.

"They got way ahead of themselves. Crazy," he said.

Following the unprecedented search, the Justice Department has faced fierce criticism, with Trump supporters, and some of his fellow Republicans in Washington accusing Democrats of weaponising the federal bureaucracy to target Mr Trump.

The US Justice Department has been investigating the discovery of boxes of records containing classified information that were taken to Mar-a-Lago after Mr Trump's presidency ended.

They were retrieved in January by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), which then asked the Justice Department to examine whether Mr Trump's handling of White House records violated federal law.

It noted that some of the boxes contained items "marked as classified national security information".

It is not clear what law enforcement officials were looking for, but it is likely to have been any additional evidence that would help with prosecutors' case.

Former US President Donald Trump has said he will not oppose the release of the warrant that let FBI agents search his Mar-a-Lago home earlier this week.

In a statement, Mr Trump said he was encouraging its "immediate release" - but repeated his claim the search was unnecessary and politically motivated.

The US Department of Justice has made a rare request to a Florida court to unseal the warrant.

If granted, it would mean the documents are made available to the public.

And it could confirm the reason for Monday's search of Mr Trump's Florida home - something that the justice department has not yet revealed.

Monday's FBI search is believed to be connected to an investigation into whether the former president removed classified records and sensitive material from the White House.

According to the Washington Post, citing anonymous sources, documents relating to nuclear weapons were among the items FBI agents were looking for at Mar-a-Lago.

The sources did not tell the newspaper whether the information involved US weapons or some other nation's.

Mr Trump had a deadline of 15:00 EST (19:00 GMT) on Friday afternoon to object to the unsealing - but it is not clear what his statement now means for when the documents could be published.

"Not only will I not oppose the release of documents related to the unAmerican, unwarranted, and unnecessary raid and break-in of my home in Palm Beach, Florida, Mar-a-Lago, I am going a step further by ENCOURAGING the immediate release of those documents," the statement read.

He said this was despite them being "drawn up by radical left Democrats and possible future political opponents, who have a strong and powerful vested interest in attacking me, much as they have done for the last six years".

Earlier, Attorney General Merrick Garland revealed he personally approved the warrant for the search.

Until now, the justice department has followed its normal practice of remaining silent during an active investigation - and documents such as search warrants traditionally remain sealed during a pending investigation.

But Mr Garland said he was asking a court to make documents connected to the search warrant publicly available, in the public interest.

He said his decision was also influenced by Mr Trump publicly announcing the search had taken place.

"The public's clear and powerful interest in understanding what occurred under these circumstances weighs heavily in favour of unsealing," justice department lawyers said in a motion filed in federal court on Thursday.

Monday's search was the first time in American history that a former president's home has been searched as part of a criminal investigation. Mr Trump and other Republicans have condemned the move as politically motivated.

But speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Mr Garland defended FBI agents and justice department officials.

"I will not stand by silently when their integrity is unfairly attacked," the attorney general told reporters.

He also said the decision to execute the search warrant was not taken lightly. "Where possible it is standard practice to seek less intrusive means," he said.

Earlier, Lindsey Halligan, an attorney for Mr Trump, said his legal team was weighing whether to release the warrant before the judge makes a ruling. They were also considering disclosing photos and video of the search, she said.

FBI agents at Mar-a-Lago had requested that CCTV cameras be switched off, but the Trump team refused to comply, according to CBS News, the BBC's US partner.

Mr Trump argued on Thursday on his Truth Social platform that there was no need for the raid since he said his lawyers had been "co-operating fully" and "the government could have had whatever they wanted, if we had it".

He also alleged that the federal agents had rummaged through former First Lady Melania Trump's closet and personal items.

For what it’s worth, which is probably not much, I do agree with the basic premise of the point that Trump has been far less of a warmonger than the prominent Democrats of the recent past such as Obama, Biden, and both Clintons. Trump IMHO was starting to repair the disastrous legacy of the Republican Party on foreign policy post Reagan, Bush Snr, Bush Jnr, etc before he got ousted. If Trump comes back it will be interesting to see what happens with West-Russia relations.

Then I am glad its not up to the rest of the world to elect the US president.

No educated European with a moral sense wants Trump to be in charge.

Perhaps white racist idiots do because he validates their racism and sense of grievance.

Russian imperialists do because under a Trump presidency Putin will be much more free to invade more of Europe. Trump is in Putin’s pocket.

The only people he listens to are oligarchs and despots - not scientists, not lawyers and not generals.

He lies like most people breathe. He is purely transactional - he won’t give because giving is decent and kind - only ever to get something back. He is extremely unreliable, as he appears to have no guiding principles except whatever will advance him on a moment by moment basis.

Biden has done his job by defeating Trump, getting the COVID vaccine rolled out and advancing environmental legislation. He should step down in 2024 and start grooming Buttgieg or someone after the midterms.

Why?

Obama didn’t start any wars and neither has Biden. Neither did the Clintons.

Obama was handed two foreign wars by Bush 43 and reduced American deployments in both. Biden pulled out of Afghanistan. You could talk about Obama’s drone campaign but Trump launched three times as many drone strikes.

So surely those people should be considered peacemongers?

I worry about you James, this place has given you Stockholm Syndrome. You have to hold on to your principles, think critically and not let the constant barrage of false equivalences, conspiracy theory and generalisation get into your head.

Good for Biden.

Again, what is your point?!

For what it is worth, Trump was prepared to close the borders, as was Boris, in March 2020, but the liberals cried 'racists!'

I’m baffled by the admiration of Trump on this thread, and the trotting out of his false claims that the intelligence dossier against him was disproved.

Any native English speaker knows instantly from his toddler-level vocabulary that Trump is a halfwit. He is borderline intellectually subnormal, but inherited a fortune, which he lost, and has made a career of impressing people of similar low intellect to his own.

He’s a grifter, who has used political office as a means of parting his unfortunate base supporters from their money.

It’s been plain obvious all along that he is dazzled by displays of military power, even France’s Bastille Day, but that Putin has something on him which has made Trump do his bidding.

He’s not smart enough to be a foreign agent - he only has about three quarters of the IQ of a Jeffrey Epstein. But he is probably the most buy-able man in the world, and it looks like Putin has his number.

Never forget, his first impeachment happened because rather than implementing his own government’s foreign policy, he blocked approved arms deliveries for paid-for weapons to Ukraine as a way of trying to extort Zelensky to invent evidence against Hunter Biden.

In effect, long before January 6 Donald Trump was willing to undermine his own government because he prioritised extorting a foreign leader for his own personal electoral gain.

It was dumb to get impeached twice. But Trump is dumb. He always has been.

Concur on all points except one - I do think he is a Russian asset. Not smart enough to be an agent, but someone who can be manipulated by a combination of blackmail and flattery.

In essence, liberals are calling nearly half the US electorate who voted for Trump - dumb, blind, and stupid - including blacks.

I only said he was not a Russian agent.

But Trump was always blatantly obviously a Russian asset. He always made the choices in foreign policy that Vladimir Putin wanted him to make.

My guess is that it was a mixture of being dependent upon Russian loans and being blackmailed over the video of him getting two hookers to urinate on the bed that Obama had occupied at the Ritz-Carlton in Moscow.

Only Donald Trump could find himself in bed with two paid-for hookers in Moscow and not think “maybe I’m being filmed and will be blackmailed”.

No, I’m only saying that Trump is of very low IQ.

His voters were a mixture by my estimation of:

1. Desperate working class people who believed his MAGA lies and didn’t realise he had no intention of rebuilding local industry. (40%)

2. Born again Christians who only care about abortion as a political issue (10%)

3. Real Republicans who wore a peg on their noses in voting for a man they despised (40%)

4. Others (10%)

So where in your estimations do Blacks, Women, Hispanics, Atheists, who voted for Trump fit in?

MAGA was first coined by Ronald Reagan.

Now, I suggest you read up on what Trump said about running for President in 2016, he didn't want to be President, he only ran for President to bolster his TV ratings, but when he was acting like he was on how TV show, saying things what the audience wanted to hear, he himself was shocked that he won the 2016 election - this is why his wife was CRYING when Trump won!

Saying all of the above, as you have said many times, Americans are your cousins, so I guess that makes Trump your family member. :)

It's funny how this member keeps exclaiming how liberals are the biggest threat to democracy - yet keeps extolling the virtues of a man whose supporters violently attacked the Capitol to stop the confirmation of results of a democratic election on January 6th 2021.

A man who asked Georgia officials to "find votes" to overturn his deficit.

Constant calls to overturn Brexit are wrong, but January 6th was a "great scene of freedom" to directly quote this hypocrite (yes I have saved that quote).

In SVR/GRU speak, they abbreviate such an individual as a UI. Useful Idiot

You don't need to follow MSM, CNN, or BBC..you only have to listen to him talk and do your own research on the man.

Its a strange world when people can't see him for what he is and then use others as examples.
If we were to pick an imbecile only because he is on the same level as someone else then we really are going backwards.

Some advice for all posting here.

Address the issue and NOT the poster.

Continue to do so and you will be dealt with harshly.

Liberalism has hijacked the term freedom, in fact, most liberals are pseudo-liberals (who are deep down fascists and racists) yet believe freedom is defined by choice. They couldn't be any more wrong.

Freedom of speech - the right to criticise the government without fear or repercussion - we have lost this right in the West. Criticise the establishment, and you could end up in jail, blocked, wanted - Julian Assange is a great example.

Our own Amreekan residents profess the US constitution is designed to stand against the US government.

Well, 6th Jan 2020 was exactly that - a great scene of freedom - where the people revolted against the establishment, this is what freedom is! Revolution! Refusing to take orders or accepting lies from the establishment, and standing up for what we believe in! Enough is enough!

We need some of this freedom in the UK, we already have 1 million who have decided not to pay their energy bills, I say forget that, we need 10s Millions marching into Westminster - the entire UK police & army couldn't stop the public!

We Brits could learn a thing or 2 from the events of 6th Jan 2022, defiance, belief, determination, and resilience.

As the movie (V for Vendetta) quote goes - people should not be afraid of the government, the government should be afraid of the people.

Oh yeah, one more thing, Guy Fawkes, why exactly do we honour him on the 5th of November? Oh that's right, he was going to blow up the houses of Parliament. The last honest man to walk into Parliament.

Come on Trump, you can do it, 2024 inshallah!

Technics 1210 Guy Fawkes is not honoured on 5th November, it’s the opposite. It is a celebration of his failure, the survival of the King, and the preservation of Parliament. That is why Guy Fawkes effigies get burned on bonfires. Add in the undertones of anti-Catholic bigotry and 5th November becomes about as pro English establishment a holiday as anyone could ever come up with.

I thought it was in his honour/commemoration of completing his failed mission, since he got caught!?

No it’s what I posted above, part of the anti-Catholic agenda of King James 1st which is also subtly inserted into some Shakespeare plays on the King’s orders, such as Macbeth. The history of England is politics politics politics :)

Well, Guy Fawkes still remains the last man to walk into Parliament with honest intentions.

Although I don’t think most people who do “penny for the Guy” and burn the Fawkes dolls on the fire know about this, it’s just tradition that continues largely unquestioned :)

Yeah, he was a Catholic terrorist trying to overthrow an overwhelmingly Protestant Parliament and Monarchy.

He had converted to Catholicism in Spain and fought for that land in their Eighty Years' War with Protestant Holland.

He escaped the terrible death sentence of his genitals excised and burned before his face before being drawn and quartered by falling off the scaffold and breaking his neck.

Not that anyone really bothers with Bonfire Night any longer. It appears to have been replaced by Halloween. It's a bit sad, as I remember the bonfires and the fireworks on 5th November as a kiddie as the last bit of fun until Christmas.

But the 21st century resurgence of the pagan festival of Halloween is quite nice too.

Their hero Trump had lost by SEVEN MILLION votes.

But the subset of Trump voters whom he was mobilising on January 6 - white, uneducated, religious, conspiracy theorists - was quick to believe his laughable lies about the election being stolen FROM him, when what he was actually doing was trying to steal it himself.

You can call Donald Trump a lot of things: dumb, vain, self-obsessed etc etc. But he committed Treason against the United States of America in plain sight.

He may be dumb and he is obviously a coward. But above all he is a traitor against his country.

Their hero Trump had lost by SEVEN MILLION votes.

I do not understand your point here? Bush lost to Al Gore in the popular vote in 2000, but Bush still won the electoral vote, and became President, and you have already stated that you were a fan of Bush because you lean towards Republican values.

It doesn't matter whether you win by an inch or a mile, winning is winning. (You can guess the movie).

I love how the mere mention of Trump has his opponents riled up and sitting on edge until the 2024 GE is concluded.

This is what you call power and influence; people fear the truth!

He pleaded the Fifth Amendment over 440 times this week: Trump clearly fears the truth.

But that’s just a case of corrupt behaviour. What is fascinating is that the Florida raid appears to have been to find missing highly classified documents relating to nuclear weapons.

If that is the case, he loses the “but I declassified those documents myself” argument because a President cannot declassify nuclear secrets.

But more to the point, are they secret documents about the USA’s nuclear weapons or Russia’s?

It actually opens up the possibility that a US President was passing nuclear secrets to Russia. Which is slightly unorthodox.

Stories now emerging that the Mar-a-Lago raid found dozens of Top Secret classified documents both in Trump’s office above the ballroom and in a storage room near the pool.

It’s pretty obvious that someone in his inner circle leaked to the FBI where they needed to look. Someone has done a deal with the Feds.

We might be getting to the point where Vladimir sends a nice man to put some Novichok in Trump’s Big Mac.

And? Pleading the 5th is within his constitutional right.

What is you point?

You are now fantasizing over which documents were found at Trump's residence, you can make up what ever you want that will help you sleep at night, just remember, it was a proven fact Clinton deleted emails from her server containing top secret documents - I can follow your logic and claim she was going to share Nuclear secrets with Isreal. Bet you'd agree with this.

Remember folks, The Mueller report cleared Trump of conspiring with Russia.

Despite the liberal/anti-Trump supporters claiming Trump has links to Russia, is an asset to Russia, I say, show us the evidence, otherwise, its pure lies, bluff, and bluster.

Isn't this what Liberalism promotes and takes pride in? Following the evidence? Seems like liberal principles have one again been shattered and exposed for what they truly represent : hypocrisy and bias.

Terrible terrible behavior. dear oh dear.

No it didn’t. It absolutely didn’t.

And secondly, Trump refused to give evidence to Mueller, even though he appointed him.

Trump refused to give evidence, well that proves his opponents had no evidence such as recordings, dossiers, video meetings - and they were going to rely on the lying Trump? Ha. Ha. and a big, HA!

All a conspiracy to frame Trump, failed.

At least we now know Liberals also believe in conspiracies. :)

Trump is a con man. Yes, he did help the economy and some people support him for it but at the same time some people support him because they have been conned by his rhetoric. He courts all the white nationalists, while he doesnt believe in this crap. But he empowers them. They are all mostly idiots who believe there is a white genocide happening in the US.

Then in order to overthrow the results of the elections, he mobilized them on January 16. These are all actual facts you cannot ignore.

He didn’t even help the economy much. He rode on the back of Obama’s industry stimulus package.

Obama was the con man. He promised 'Change' well, nothing really changed, he was still bombing innocents lives in the ME, still waging ward, still bailing out the crooks at Wall Street, and the black communities ended up being worse off since Bush 43 left.

While I admit his foreign policy in the ME was a disaster, he did not bail out anyone. He loaned money to some firms during the great recession of 08-10 and by 2014 the economy was thriving. I remember paying for gas around the same price 12 years ago as it is now when people are crying themselves to sleep over it. Yet it all bounced back in a few years. Obama did well on that front and like Robert said Trump also reaped benefits of that.

While Trump was busy protecting his voter base and telling everyone there were "fine people on both sides" after a racist white guy plowed through a crowd with his car and killed a woman and injured several, one of them a black mother of a young girl. That woman still cannot walk right after so many years.

Like I said a "con man" // Trump isnt a racist. He just pretends to be one so the racists will votes for him. He loves the illegal immigrants and blacks. Tons of them work for him at his resorts all over the country.

VA warrant shows the FBI took 11 sets of classified documents from Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence earlier this week, US media report.

On Thursday, the Justice Department asked a court to unseal the search warrant, a move considered rare amid an ongoing investigation.

This has not yet formally taken place, but multiple US outlets say they have seen the warrant.

Mr Trump denies any wrongdoing. He said the items were unclassified and safe.

Citing documents, the Wall Street Journal reports that items removed by the FBI from Mar-a-Lago include 20 boxes, binders of photos, and a clemency letter written on behalf of political strategist Roger Stone, a long-time Trump ally.

Also recovered was information about the "President of France", the paper says, although it is unclear what that refers to.

The list shows that one list of documents is marked "TS/SCI" - or top-secret/sensitive compartmented information - a classification level reserved for information that could cause "exceptionally grave" damage to US security, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Additionally, the list is said to include four sets of "top secret documents", three sets of "secret documents, and three sets of "confidential" documents.

No further details about the contents of the documents were provided.

In a statement on his Truth Social platform, Mr Trump said the items recovered were "all declassified" and securely stored.

He said he would have been willing to hand the items over before the search warrant was carried out.

"They could have had it anytime they wanted - and that includes long ago," he said. "All they had to do was ask."

His whole purpose of getting the presidency was to use it to boost his businesses which were failing and he was looking down the barrel of massive failure and bankruptcy. He is just doing what he thought he could openly and easily do during and after his time in the office ended. Which is use the privilege and information he has as president to leverage his own business. It is not espionage but just something to make him look favorable for potential business opportunities.

This is brilliant news. If by some miracle Trump is found guilty of this nonsensical charge, his army of followers will make 6th Jan 2020 look like a summer blockbuster trailer. We will not be seeing scenes of freedom, but vistas of freedom across the land of Amreeka!

Win/win for Trumpism.

Yes!

The President cannot be found guilty of a crime, so he would be immune to prosecution for eight years.

Donald Trump being investigated under Espionage Act, with 'top secret' documents taken from his Florida home

The FBI recovered more than 20 boxes of items - some labelled top secret - during a search of Donald Trump's Florida mansion, court records show.

Details from a warrant that has now been unsealed, show some items related to defence information.

The warrant said the probe involves alleged violations of the Espionage Act.

Among the 20 boxes removed were 11 sets of classified documents - one marked as "various classified/TS/SCI documents," referring to top secret and sensitive information.

A binder of photos, a handwritten note and information about the "President of France" were also seized.

The FBI searched Mr Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida earlier this week, with the former president claiming his home was "raided" and "under siege" and that agents broke open a safe.

He told his 3.8 million followers on his Truth Social platform the documents were "all declassified" and he would have handed them over at any point - there was no need to "seize" them.

However, while a president does have authority to declassify documents, it is not clear whether Mr Trump ever took official action to do so.

The FBI seized top secret files in a search of former US President Donald Trump's estate in Florida this week, according to a search warrant.

Agents removed 11 sets of documents, including some marked "TS/SCI", a designation for material that could cause "exceptionally grave" damage to US national security.

Mr Trump denied any wrongdoing and said the items were declassified.

It was the first time an ex-president's home was searched in a criminal probe.

The list of items was made public on Friday afternoon after a judge unsealed a seven-page document that included the warrant authorising the search of Mr Trump's Palm Beach residence, Mar-a-Lago.

It said more than 20 boxes of items were taken on Monday, including a binder of photos, a handwritten note, unspecified information about the "President of France" and a clemency letter written on behalf of long-time Trump ally Roger Stone.

As well as four sets of top secret files, the cache includes three sets of "secret documents" and three sets of "confidential" material.

The warrant indicates that FBI agents were looking into potential violations of the Espionage Act, which makes it illegal to keep or transmit potentially dangerous national security information.

The removal of classified documents or materials is prohibited by law. Mr Trump increased the penalties for the crime while in office and it is now punishable by up to five years in prison.

The warrant notes that the locations searched at Mar-a-Lago include an area called the "45 office" and storage rooms, but not private guest suites being used by Mr Trump and his staff.

The justice department had asked a court to make it public on Thursday, a move considered rare amid an ongoing investigation.

It was approved by a judge on 5 August, three days before it was carried out on Monday, 8 August.

On Friday night, Mr Trump's office issued a statement maintaining that he had used his authority while president to declassify the documents.

"He had a standing order that documents removed from the Oval Office and taken into the residence were deemed to be declassified," the statement said.

"The power to classify and declassify documents rests solely with the President of the United States.

"The idea that some paper-pushing bureaucrat, with classification authority delegated by the president, needs to approve of declassification is absurd."

Legal experts have told US media it is unclear whether this argument would hold up in court. "Presidents can declassify information but they have to follow a procedure," Tom Dupree, a lawyer who previously worked in the justice department, told the BBC.

"They have to fill out forms. They have to give certain authorisations. They can't simply say these documents are declassified. They have to follow a process [and it is] not clear that was followed here."

A spokesman for Mr Trump, Taylor Budowich, said the administration of President Joe Biden "is in obvious damage control after their botched raid".

Mr Budowich accused the administration of "leaking lies and innuendos to try to explain away the weaponisation of government against their dominant political opponent".

Mr Trump's conservative allies have also condemned the raid as a political hit job as he considers another run for the presidency in 2024.

Law enforcement agencies around the country are reportedly monitoring online threats against government officials that have emerged in the wake of the FBI search.

US Attorney General Merrick Garland, who personally approved the warrant, defended federal agents on Thursday as "dedicated, patriotic public servants".

"I will not stand by silently when their integrity is unfairly attacked," he told reporters.

Yeah, wouldn’t you? Too bad your leaders don’t agree and love some mudakhalat and saazish from yanks from time to time like the rest of the world. Brits are as phattoo as the next guy when it comes to US. That’s just how it is!

Iran’s hardliners have threatened to kill former US president Donald Trump and his secretary of state Mike Pompeo following the stabbing of Sir Salman Rushdie - allegedly by Hadi Matar, a Muslim who has been praised by the religious regime in Tehran.

The Kayhan newspaper, whose editor is personally selected by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has suggested that after Rushdie, “it is now the turn of Trump and Pompeo”.

“God has taken his revenge on Rushdie. The attack on him shows it is not a difficult job to take similar revenge on Trump and Pompeo and from now on they will feel more in danger for their lives,” reads the paper’s front-page editorial today.

In January this year on the first anniversary of the killing of Qassem Suleimani, the commander of the Revolutionary Guard’s Quds Force, Iran's president Ebrahim Raisi publicly threatened Trump and Pompeo with retaliation.

“If the conditions for a fair trial of Mr Trump and Mr Pompeo and other criminals become available, they will be charged for committing this heinous crime and will face the consequence of their criminal actions.

“However, let there be no doubt that I say here to all American statesmen that the hand of revenge will eventually come out of the sleeve of our nation.”

Donald Trump claims FBI seized three passports during raid of Mar-a-Lago home
Last week, FBI agents recovered "top secret" documents from the former US president's home, including some which contained information they said could cause "exceptionally grave" damage to US interests if revealed publicly.

Donald Trump has accused the FBI of seizing his passports during a search of his Mar-a-Lago estate.

Describing it as an "assault on a political opponent", the former US president claimed agents "stole" three of his passports.

The FBI searched his home last week after officials discovered boxes containing classified information were taken to his estate after his presidency came to an end.

They were retrieved in January by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), which then asked the Justice Department to investigate whether Mr Trump's handling of White House records violated federal law.

In a post on Truth Social - his own social media platform - Mr Trump told his followers: "Wow. In the raid by the FBI of Mar-a-Lago, they stole my three Passports (one expired), along with everything else.

"This is an assault on a political opponent at a level never seen before in our country. Third world."

A Department of Justice official told NBC News that Mr Trump's passports were not in the possession of the FBI and had in fact been returned to the former president.

Mr Trump's followers have largely been galvanised by the search, rallying around him and criticising the move as political due to it taking place at a time when many expect him to announce plans to stand for another presidential term.

'The temperature has to be brought down'

Speaking to Fox News Digital, Mr Trump warned that "terrible things are going to happen" if frustrations are not abated.

"The country is in a very dangerous position. There is tremendous anger like I've never seen before, over all of the scams, and this new one - years of scams and witch hunts, and now this," Mr Trump said.

"People are so angry at what is taking place," he added. "Whatever we can do to help - because the temperature has to be brought down in the country."

He went on to suggest that the FBI "could have planted anything they wanted" during the search.

"There has never been a time like this where law enforcement has been used to break into the house of a former president of the United States, and there is tremendous anger in the country - at a level that has never been seen before, other than during very perilous times," he said.

Key affidavit could be unsealed

During the raid, officers recovered more than 20 boxes of items, some of which were labelled as top secret.

A search warrant showed that agents retrieved a set of papers that were marked not only as top secret but also "sensitive compartmented information", a special category meant to protect the nation's most important secrets.

A binder of photos, a handwritten note and information about the "President of France" were also seized.

The warrant also revealed Mr Trump is being investigated under the Espionage Act.

Members of the US media have asked the Department of Justice to unseal the affidavit used by prosecutors to obtain a federal judge's approval to search Mr Trump's Florida home.

On Monday, the department said it has opposed the requests as the investigation "implicates highly classified material" and the document contains sensitive information about witnesses.

The document would have revealed the evidence that prosecutors showed to demonstrate they had probable cause to believe crimes were committed.

I wouldn’t put it past Trump to try to foment another insurrection of some sort.

But his followers are too disorganised to achieve any political objectives. They are basically football hooligans with guns. A few ringleaders will get shot by police, and the rest will go home.

Republican Liz Cheney has lost her Wyoming seat in Congress to a Trump-backed candidate from her own party.

She conceded defeat to Harriet Hageman, whose candidacy has been endorsed by the former president in the Republican primary.

Ms Cheney, 56, has been one of the most outspoken Trump critics in the Republican party and was one of 10 Republicans who voted to impeach Mr Trump in 2021 following the 6 January Capitol riots.

Meanwhile Ms Hageman has backed his assertion that the 2020 election was stolen.

Observers say Ms Cheney's loss indicates that Mr Trump still has a grip on the Republican Party.

Speaking after the polls closed, Ms Cheney said she could have "easily" won the primary vote again, if she chose to support the former president.

"It's a path I could not and would not take," she added.

They have ample reason to fear the left. Illegal immigration and inflation are wreaking havoc on the country.

I know America is supposed to accept the tired, the trodden, and all that jazz but the country is going to buckle under the immense influx of refugees and it seems like the Dems just look at them as verified pro votes.

America is getting very very polarized now. Most of them want a wall on the southern border for real thanks to all the promises the Cheeto guy made.

The long-time financial chief of Donald Trump's company has pleaded guilty to fraud and tax evasion charges at a New York court.

Allen Weisselberg, who served as The Trump Organization's chief financial officer, had been charged with concealing more than $1.7m (£1.4m) in off-the-books income.

He is expected to be sentenced to five months at the notorious Rikers Island jail and must pay back the owed money.

Mr Trump has not been charged.

The former president - who is not accused of wrongdoing - has described the Manhattan district attorney's criminal investigation into his family's real estate company as a witch hunt.

The case relates to a 15-year scheme that prosecutors said helped executives at The Trump Organization avoid paying taxes on corporate benefits such as rent, luxury car payments and private school fees.

The inquiry focused on whether Weisselberg and other executives received these benefits without reporting them properly on their tax returns.

And at the plea hearing on Thursday, the 75-year-old admitted his involvement in the scheme and to receiving private school tuition for his grandchildren, BMW cars and a home in Manhattan.

USA doesn't have a left, it has a right and a more-right. In Europe, Biden would be a moderate conservative, in UK a One Nation Tory.

The world's richest country with plentiful resources and vast wide open spaces is not going to buckle due to refugees. If USA wants to stand up to China in the latter 21st century they should be taking all the people they can get.

Polarisation is due to social media algorithms feeding the user more and more of what they want to believe.

What left?

The Democrats are a right-of-centre party - and I'm saying that as a British Conservative. I'm a Tory, but Joe Biden and the Clintons are far to the right of me.

Illegal immigration is pretty trivial in the USA - it's just served up as red meat for Republican voters. You can't get a credit card without a social security number, and you can't buy petrol without keying your credit card's ZIP code into the pump.

As for inflation, that is a legacy of Trump - not Biden.

As for inflation, that is a legacy of Trump - not Biden.

Wrong. Inflation is the legacy of Obama who hired the same cronies that caused the financial crash of 2008 and then embarked on relentless QE spanning 8 years into the Trillions. Creating money out of thin air was going to catch up with the economy at some point.

You talk about GDP, learn about inflation and M3 money supply, and look up the effects of QE, inflation is the number one result of QE.

What did Obama campaign on? Change. You bet, change is on the horizon.

Go on, blame Trump for the WW1, WW2, and the Cold War too.

"I have never seen these items before. You planted them. But I declassified them before you planted them".

The FBI has listed the categories of secret documents which had been stolen from the White House and were found at the former President's private club.

1 stolen classified SCI document that no President can declassify or even remove from the Oval Office.

4 stolen Top Secret documents.

3 stolen Secret documents

3 stolen Miscellaneous Secret documents.

Trump's lawyers had attested that those missing, stolen documents were not in the custody of the President.

But a raid on a warrant issued under the Espionage Act found that those stolen documents were in Trump's custody.

Now we are just waiting to see whether he stole them as souvenirs, or whether he was passing them to a foreign power.

Donald Trump sues justice department over Mar-a-Lago search

Former US President Donald Trump has asked a judge to freeze the justice department's investigation of files seized from his Mar-a-Lago home.

In a lawsuit, his legal team asked that an independent lawyer be appointed to oversee the documents that FBI agents took earlier this month.

Eleven sets of classified files were taken from Mr Trump's Florida estate on 8 August, according to the FBI.

Mr Trump is being investigated for potentially mishandling documents.

US presidents must transfer all of their documents and emails to a government agency called the National Archive - and the FBI is investigating whether Mr Trump improperly handled records by taking them from the White House to Mar-a-Lago after he left office.

He has denied any wrongdoing and said the items were declassified.

In the 27-page document filed in a Florida court, Mr Trump's legal team accuses the justice department's search as "simply wanting the camel's nose under the tent so they could rummage for either politically helpful documents or support efforts to thwart President Trump from running again".

Mr Trump is suing for more detailed list of exactly what was taken from his estate and is asking for the government to return any item which was not in the scope of the search warrant.

His lawyers have also asked that a "neutral" third-party attorney - known as a special master - be brought in to determine whether the seized files are covered by executive privilege, which allows presidents to keep certain communications under wraps.

Special masters are normally appointed in criminal cases where there are concerns that some evidence may be protected under attorney-client privilege, or other protections that could make it inadmissible in court.

The Department of Justice (DoJ) said in a brief statement that prosecutors were aware of Mr Trump's lawsuit, and would respond in court. The "search warrant at Mar-a-Lago was authorised by a federal court upon the required finding of probable cause", said spokesman Anthony Coley.

It comes as the New York Times reported on Monday that agents had so far recovered over 300 documents with classified markings from Mr Trump, including material from the CIA, the National Security Agency and the FBI.

Mr Trump's legal action was filed in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Monday, before a judge that Mr Trump nominated to the bench in 2020.

It says: "President Donald J Trump is the clear frontrunner in the 2024 Republican Presidential Primary and in the 2024 General Election, should he decide to run."

"Law enforcement is a shield that protects Americans," it continues. "It cannot be used as a weapon for political purposes."

The "shockingly aggressive move" on Mar-a-Lago by about two dozen FBI agents took place "with no understanding of the distress that it would cause most Americans", said Mr Trump's lawyers.

His legal team accused the government of leaking "ever-changing, and inaccurate, 'justifications'" for the search to favoured media outlets.

The court filing argues that Mr Trump had been co-operating with agents before the FBI turned up unannounced at his home.

His lawyers say the warrant was overly broad and the search violated the Fourth Amendment to the US Constitution, which protects Americans against unreasonable search and seizure.

Mr Trump's legal team says that three days after the search they contacted an FBI agent that had visited Mar-a-Lago in June to ask for his help in passing along a personal message from the former president to Attorney General Merrick Garland.

The brief message recorded in Monday's lawsuit said that Mr Trump had heard "from people around the country about the raid".

"If there was one word to describe their mood, it is 'angry'," the message from Mr Trump continued.

"The heat is building up. The pressure if building up. Whatever I can do to take the heat down, to bring the pressure down, just let us know."

The judge that approved the warrant - an unprecedented criminal investigation of a former US president's home - is still determining whether to release the affidavit, the sworn evidence that was presented as a justification for the FBI search.

On Monday, Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart said proposed government redactions to the affidavit were so extensive as to make it "meaningless" if disclosed, though he said he still believed it should not remain completely sealed given public interest in the case.

Mr Trump has previously maintained he had done nothing wrong, arguing that all of documents he took from the White House when he left office in January 2021 had already been declassified by himself.
