Dream scenario for the 2026 T20 World Cup

These would be my dream scenario for this T20 world cup. Yes, some of this may seem unrealistic due to team seedings and reputation but a fan can always dream/fantasize, can't he?

1. India lose either the game with WI or Zimbabwe and get knocked out.
2. Pakistan qualify for the semis and finals. (Not too greedy to wish for a Pakistan world cup win but that would be great of course)
3. Both one of the semis and the final are now in SL and not in India.
4. 1.4 Billion people silenced out of their dominance of ICC with their marquee event final now shifted out to SL. A small retribution for the ACC games in Pakistan shifted to UAE for India's benefit.
 
In sha Allah, no. 2 and 3 come true.

I want Pakistan to win, but I don’t go around and hope for other teams to lose. I mean the matches where Pakistan are not involved in. Let’s win it like men, In Sha Allah.
 
Okay with scrior, but add to this dropping of Babar, and continued dropping of Shaheen.

Possibly also dropping Faheem and Shadab.
 
It's the NRR really - and how bad the SA, Ind and WI can crush Zimbabwe.
 
Normal service will resume India will qualify while W.i along with pak will not make it to semis

After seeing passion of associates and the way Zimbabweans celebrated it showed how nice and enjoyable cricket can be when it is non toxic.

Putting any national bias aside the dream scenario would be for them to go far in the tournament. A journey against all the odds.

The way their small band of travelling fans reacted to their qualification, and the way the Nepalese fans cheered on their fans was a reminder of what sport is all about.

Unfortunately the petty BCCI and Indians have reduced this beautiful game to the level where even schedules are a point of debate and rigged. Where political victories are won on a cricket pitch.

Did we play cricket growing up to try and influence schedules or to avenge the loss of military jets?
That's not the game we fell in love with. Let's not be Indians.
 
I agree with most of the posters and il be honest I can’t wait to get India knocked out of the tournament
They do not own cricket and I’m sick of seeing their flag being waved around all over the place and their fans post such vile vitriolic abuse online and make this beautiful game seem so tribal and simplistic
Zimbabwe have proven the underdogs still matter in cricket and no one can tell us which games are important anymore and which ones aren’t

Indians have destroyed cricket with overcommercialization and pettiness.

Man I agree with this. The only reason I want India to get knocked out is because they politicized the sport many of us watched as kids. Cricket to my siblings and I is special (even though it is barely followed among our friends or kids in the US) because we have special memories of watching these games with our Abbu, who was so passionate about the game that he would spend extra money to view it on TV or online in the US and have us kids sit together and watch with him. The 90s glory days of Pakistan being a true cricket force.

Seeing how BCCI has adopted+corrupted a sport this way creates a bitter after taste for folks like us.

India's chances of not making it to the semis are greater than their chances of making it. They need to destroy Zimbabwe, WI and hope other results go their way.

India have been a solid tournament team for a while now, it was just a matter of time before they had a bad tournament. They're missing chase master Kohli and they've a few too many passengers in the team including SKY and Rinku.

Pakistan have a few talented individuals but for the most part we're a middling team. We don't have a single quality 140k+ bowler whereas India have 3 (Bumrah, Arshdeep & Suraj). We've not had a decent medium pace all rounder since Razzaq. India have Pandya and Dube. We're literally Farhan, Saim (bowling), Tariq or bust.

We need to bat first and then attack England with all of our spin options to stand any chance of winning. Our quicks with the exception of Mirza are cannon fodder for English bats.

Pakistan is on the verge of elimination from the tournament and Sri Lanka has already been eliminated from the tournament.

Therefore, both the semi-final and final matches will be played in India.

Lol from the start I just wanted India to lose and get knocked out from the tournament.

I can't tolerate their arrogant clown fans their ex players their current players.

Hopefully they get knocked out now. It will be win win for me.

For naqvi to become ICC chairman he will have to resign from his govt post which I don't think so he will

Have a feeling WI will kick India out and @Devadwal will be crying. But hard for us to beat SL with a very big margin with dot ball Farhan and Duck Ayub not in form. Hopefully Poms can smash NZ.
 
It is always not a good sign when someone dreams about others losing :). Anyways all the scenarios are possible though, India crashing out is a genuine possibility knowing WI have always troubled India in this format. India overall hold a 19-10 advantage over WI but have only won once in the WC out of 4 games. So WI game isn't easy for India. Remember they beat India in 2016 WC in India as well in the semi-final. So India getting knocked out is a realistic possibility.

In cricket or any sports, getting knocked out by any team is a possibility and we are in a group of teams who qualified first in group games..No point on speaking the history like Pakistanis and expecting the same things to happen everytime..let's be happy that our teams fate is in the hands of our players and not on the mercy of some other teams..stay positive!
 
This tournament is over for Pakistan, so need to focus on future torunaments.

T20 team has been quite disappointing for the past 3-4 years, since 2022 WC semi-final. Not having reliable speedster bowlers and non-existing middle order reliable hitters are desperatly hindering Pakistan to compete well with the big guns.

Babar is not the same anymore, he is past his prime and not meant for T20. And sifarshi players like Shadab must be thrown out for good.
 
Dream scenerio for proteas will be to face India once again in final and smash them in front of packed stadium like cummins did in 2023...
 
Pakistan given every possible advantage by ICC, still failed to qualify for semis. Now looks like Shadab Khan ll be made captain. Dream scenario for Hesson, Shadab and Islamad United...

This is the difference between a gun big match team like India and a ordinary team like Pakistan ... we would have easily defended 147 in a big match situation against SL. Done it soo many times in the past with the most famous one being the 2007 T20 WC final and most recently defending just 120 in the 2024 WC match in NYC or defending a measly 30 runs in last 5 overs of a WC Final and now chasing ~200 in a knock-out match. Thats why betting your hopes on India losing in big matches is invariably only going to add more aggravation to Pakistani fans. Quite nothing like being an Indian cricket fan ... what a team :bow:​

Pakistan despite our poor economy is always punching above its weight. I cannot see India ever doing that. As a culture, physically, and mentally Indians are weaker than an average Pakistani. PPers need to realize this. Put Indians under pressure and they will collapse. Their entire bravado comes out only during positions of strength but not otherwise.

even otherwise every single one of the 4 dreams you listed in the OP have fizzled out .... and I will tell you this: you should be relieved that Pak is not facing India in the S/F or the Final because you know deep down that there would be one more brutal mauling .... such a shame. Perhaps its time to suddenly become a English fan ?​

But the wc semi finals and final are now set in India.

that was the more important part for me.

You can loose match any day, but the zillat of loosing the hosting of key matches hits different.
