I am not sure why this is such a shock? Drugs have been sold in Karachi for years now.

Smoking Scorpions in Pakistan | VICE Documentary

The dry and arid Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region – home to the mighty black scorpion – has emerged as the epicentre of a rare drug culture. People in Pakistan’s borderlands are no strangers to narcotics; the Soviet-Afghan war in the ‘80s made sure of that. But scorpion venom is a wildcard drug ripping through communities that no one knows what to do with.

People who have smoked it say the high is powerful and can last for days. But it’s not a cool party drug done by the rich and famous.

VICE travelled across Peshawar, Mattani and Dir to speak to users, researchers, a former narcotics-control officer and a journalist to understand why people smoke scorpion venom and how it’s changed their lives.

Yes and some Pakistanis I met from Karachi in North America were proud of that fact(not weed) needless to say they were from affluent families.

Countries should crack down on drug trades hard. Give death penalties to drug dealers and force druggies to be in rehabilitations.

Declare war on drug trade.

Sadly drugs aren't considered a big deal in Pak. There are so many teenagers addicted to Ice.

No one does anything. No one cares.

Around 2005 I used to play for a small cricket club in New Jersey. I met a Pakistani team mate there. Indian tour of pakistan was coming up in 2006 and I and few others were seriously considering going to last two ODIS which were scheduled in Multan and Karachi. Few of our friends who were a lot into drinks, partying and weed were wondering if they can do any of that. Our Pakistani friend told us he can get any kind of drug within 30 minutes in Karachi, Lahore, Multan and Peshawar. No one in our group was into hard drugs so we all kind of laughed it off. But the dude was dead serious and told us it is extremely easy to get it on the streets. That was close to 20 years back. I am not sure why it is a surprise now

By the way you can ger same in Mumbai and Bangalore but not literally on the streets. You got know your dealer.

You guys read Wasim Akram's book "Sultan"?

The people I met from Karachi tended to think they were somewhat sophisticated and drink and drugs made them cool. The ones I knew tended to end up pretty dysfunctional in reality.
