Please share dishes on the day of as well. Always good to see.

In Sha Allah looking to slaughter a cow this year. Able to give more to the needy.

Anyone done the qurbani themself? As in the actual slaughter? This may be my first year doing so.

I have sent money abroad for the sacrifice. One large sacrifice in Pakistan and two smaller sacrifices to Palestinian refugee in Egypt.

I did the same.

Qurbani is expensive in Canada. Much cheaper if given abroad.

Eid Up Adha back in Pakistan and middle eastern countries is always memorable, going to the baqra mandi, finding a good goat / cow / lamb and then feeding it well and taking care of it for the next few days before slaughter.

Good memories of every kid who grew up in Pakistan.

Then ofc the big dawat(s) after meat had been distributed to the poor.

We try to give at home too despite the price to keep tradition alive amongst youngsters. But this year due to the global conditions and sufferings decided to send all abroad.

May Allah help our distressed Muslim brothers across the globe.

I send money but yes in Pakistan its more fun.

A few years ago, I bought a very large male goat from the mandi. At night he was making loud strange noises. In the morning (while I was asleep) they let him off the lead...

The male goat decided to do a runner out of the gate. I was woken up to be informed my goat ran off. I ran out and located him few hundred yards away around 4/5 female goats. I dragged him back home and told the family to ensure he is no longer with us and went back to sleep. A few hours later, I woke to see his skull outside my bedroom.

How much is it in UK?

We have always given qurbanis abroad. Never given it in Canada.

I think a goat qurbani in Canada is like $400-$500. It can be done back home for 1/5th of that price.

I think around £250 -350 for lamb bro I'm not sure this year. My father usually handles local Qurbani and I sort out international.

Here in my city in the UK you can donate your Qurbani to masjids who operate food bank and donate it to poor and asylum seekers here too.

It's a very humbling time of year. Some people only taste meat on these days.

I do local and foreign in India. This year thinking about letting go of local and doing it for Gaza (but finding its not possible) so for Palestine in general.

Speaking with Brothers in London who are connected, Qurbani in Gaza is not possible.

I see. Similar price as Canada.

1 GBP = 1.86 CAD.

One of our local mosques also gives qurbani back home. I sometimes do qurbani with them and sometimes with other charities.

In Islam is it recommend to go local or where its needed most?

Local and with your own hand is Sunnah.
Brothers,

I am already doing foreign Qurbani in India. I am in two minds about the local vs Palestine, its the same amount of money so what would you guys do?
  1. Do a Goat/Lamb yourself by your hand (its Sunnah)?
  2. Divert the money and do it in Palestine?
  3. Skip because the one in India fulfills the obligation.
I am being cheap with option 3 :) in reality I can afford option 1 or 2.

Kids want to send the money to Palestine instead of local Qurbani.

I generally do it with one of the local mosques (they collect funds for qurbani) or with different charities. As long as obligation is fulfilled, that's all matters to me.

Doing it by hand here in Canada is very expensive. I can do 3-4 qurbanis with that money back home. So, I have never done it in Canada.

If I were you, I would give it in Palestine probably. They need it badly.

If you can afford it do the other options.

If you have kids or young relatives arrange a Qurbani in your home city. Remember the requirement isn't to give all the Qurbani away. You can allot a section to the poor, a section for yourself and distribute the rest amongst friends and family. If you have young kids it's best to do this occasionally and keep the tradition alive for the next generations. There is something nice about the doorbell ringing and someone standing with a bag of meat.

Our brothers in Palestine also desperately need us and our assistance too if you are able to do that option do it too.

My brotherly advise is give your best for Islam brother and don't take the cheap option unless you have to by necessity. If your mother or father asked you for something you would give them your best, this is Allah commanding you, the Lord of All creation. Give your best and you will be rewarded for it.

Please don’t do it unless you have the expertise and are fully confident that you can do a quick and clean job without prolonging the animal’s suffering.

It is much better to let the professionals do their job. It is not as easy at it looks.

Yeah that is why I haven’t done it yet and may not ultimately. Last thing you want is the animal writhing in needless pain, sabotaging the sacrifice and going against the etiquette of the sacrifice itself.

Can’t really say bro. Not because I don’t have an opinion but I don’t feel qualified to say so.

Just consulted with a Scholar. It is Sunnah to do it locally with my own hands but it is preferred (under the circumstances to) assist the Palestinians (due to the need), so:

  1. 1 in India (as I have always done to assist the poor)
  2. 1 in Palestine (instead of doing it myself locally)
And that's all I can afford otherwise would have done a 3rd locally but can't. These guys came to our local Mosque and asked for donations last Friday.

Was actually gonna reply in this thread where you guys have been donating for Gaza / Palestine given the whole blockade situation.

Baitulmaal is reliable on that end you reckon that our sadaqa is actually getting to them?

Your experience @DeadlyVenom on this?

There is very limited aid getting into Gaza.

I was unable to find anywhere reliable for Qurbani so instead I donated to Palestinian refugees situated in Egypt instead via my mosque.

Islamic relief appear to have sold out for Qurbani in Gaza but you can still donate to refugees.

Eid Mubarak everyone and let's not forget our Palestinian brothers and sisters on this Eid...

I have checked with several reliable Brothers and there is no possibility of Qurbani inside Gaza this year 🥹 so the Qurbani will be done elsewhere for Palestinians.

EID MUBARAK DEAR BROTHERS AND SISTERS.

May Allah make it easy for our brothers in Filistin, Uyghur region in China, Yemen, Syria, Pakistan, India and everywhere else in the world.

May every man, woman and child in the above regions and everywhere else in the world be able to participate in the joy of Eid, and be able to participate and have their share of the qurbani meat especially those in need. In Sha Allah our Creator and Lord Allah SWT will create a way for our Palestinian brothers and sisters to have access to the qurbani meat, everything we perceive as a miracle is of the utmost ease to Allah SWT.

Enjoy your day, your salah and Eid Mubarak to all of you and your families.

Eid Mubarak, brothers. Have a good one.

Eid Mubarak, all.

Eid mubarak to all.

Qurabani done here in the UK for £250 for a lamb. My kids and nephews then distribute it across family so they understand the virtues of qurbani as sending every year to PK to family doesn’t guarantee it’s done.

Also money sent to reliable source in PK for 1/7 of a cow.

Love to send to Palastine only probly locals have mentioned the needy never rec qurbani from foreign soil.

Allah knows best.
