Man just heard this 5 times. Unbelievable lyricism and rhymes. Didn't share the song here for obvious reasons but no other rapper in history can do this. Not for little kids who just wanna hear a good beat though. Some marvelous wordplay in here. Really excited for the new album.

No other rapper in the history of the current era can do this*

Eminem is fantastic and the last of his kind

In most situations Id agree. I love old school rap ranging from NWA to Wu Tang but I can safely say that no other rapper in history can rap with this kind of wordplay and complex rhyming. Not Biggie, not Pac, not Jay-Z, not Nas.

Immortal technique Defo up there as well although more underground. Uk hip hop also has had some great artists with exquisite word play and rhyming though not sure how much people here are familiar with. The likes of Lowkey, Akala, Wretch32, Tony D of poisonous poets, scorzayzee to name a few.

Generally speaking though, Eminem is just on another planet. His Marshall Mathers EP is one of my favs of all times

Yes there was a time when I listened to Immortal technique a lot and even still occasionally listen to a song or two by him. Some of his lyrics make the hair behind your neck stand up. Never heard British rap so cant comment. Id say in terms of pure skill the only ones who come close to Eminem are Biggie, Jay-Z and Nas. Jay-Z. If you listen to Jay-Z's first album, "Reasonable Doubt", you will realize that it is probably the most underrated rap album ever. Its easily his best album and Its sad that Jay-Z, while still a good rapper could never make something that good again. Same with Nas who started off with the amazing "Illmatic" but fell away. Eminem on the other hand, just keeps killing it.The perfect rapper. Yes The Marshall Mathers LP is also my favourite rap album of all time closely folllowed by Eminem's own Slim Shady LP and Eminem Show.

Pac is one of my favourites but his flow wasnt as amazing as Biggies. In terms of technichal skill Pac is nowhere near Em but hes still easily in my top 4 rappers ever. That list keeps fluctuating but Em always remains on top.

One needs to remember the era he was in underground was picking up, 2paclaypse now is rated as inspiration by most big rappers including Em and Nas.

Biggie was great too after watching Luke cage i actually back to listening some of his hits.

And sorry shaz619 can't really bear the UK ones mate ,they ain't rawww enough.

Sometime one doesn't realize unless its emphasized somewhere else.

Tupac,Dre,Biggie,Nas

2000's
Eminem,Jayz,Nas(again)

2010's
Kanye,Jayz(again),Lil Wayne,Eminem

And upcoming i would say Drake but he is soo I don't know how to say but "whitewashed"?

Good list apart from Nas in 2000s (didnt like his work in this decade apart from stillmatic), Drake and Lil Wayne, both of whom I dont rate.

Eminem and Jayz defn have beat the longevity battle they have been good for long unlike any other rapper but commercially one would be surprised to know how good Lil Wayne has been and i don't think about his(Wayne's) lyrics but i do enjoy a lot of his songs.

And yes Nas has defn lost it and him going against Jay-z hasn't worked well for him.

Immortal is just a beast with deep hard hitting lyrics. From the uk ones I mentioned Lowkey he did a song with immortal couple years back called 'voices of the voiceless' class tune, if not check it out. He is also a politically motivated rapper like IT with some deep lyrics and wordplay. Also agree with you skill wise I would have BIG after Eminem and then Nas. Not a fan of Jay z more of a nas fan nas schooled him with ether class record lol. Jay puts me off but yes he was class back in the day and I have heard couple tracks of that album. Nas illmatic was legendary a hip hop classic. One off. Em is just a beast on the mic no one like him my fav alongside BIG and Pac

Would have The Game in my list over lil Whiner any day lol. Documentary a modern day classic not many albums like that in last 10-15 years

When it comes to Rhyming I agree the rest not so much

They aint goat level but some decent talent such as Akala, Lowkey etc the grime scene is always quality to and better then main stream baqwas minus Eminem when he releases his stuff once in a blue moon always quality, relapse was brilliant

Lil Whiners best moments come as a featuring artist, my life by the game ft lil wayne was great

He gets overlooked doesn't he, but one hell of a story teller; dance with the devil his finest imo

There's another rapper ya"ll have overlooked, lets see if you can guess who :yk

Clue: He's one hell of a writer ;)

Biggie and 2Pac are better than Eminem. I always thought Eminem was overrated.

Have you heard stuff like Stan or Beautiful? Or are you basing this off a song he made with Rihanna

I loved that and how it used Dido's break, she made for a great ft artist on the track; am not sure but doesn't she appear in the video as well

In order of the rappers who I listen to the most and kinda my favourite to although I don't like ranking these guys:

1. Pac
2. Biggie
3. Ice Cube/Eminem
4. NWA
5. Puff Daddy (No love for Puff? :)) )
6. Snoop Dog
7. Damien Marley
8. Akala

Question, Eminem album going to be released soon then I guess will you guys actually be buying it or pursue other avenues :butt It's strange isn't it but people still buy music even in this era, I guess it's convenient to stick a CD in your car while you're driving but then again you could probably make one yourself

Out of current artist eminems album is the only one I actually buy. In Pakistan of course I buy a lot of albums since they are all pirated but I have bought all of eminems albums starting from relapse and I bought the deluxe edition of mmlp 2

Why do you buy it when you can download them

Yeah that's probably the only record I enjoyed and it weren't even his and defo his most memorable which says something

Lol I remember a poster here once said lol Wayne is better than Eminem. lol Wayne is absolute trash and one of the reasons for raps decline. Can't even call this joke a rapper

No mate it depends,he is not underground kind of a rapper but more on club level, truffle butter is a fun song and he has given many such stuff.

As you grow you realize there can be more than one type.Wayne will never have a hardcore following but he will be listened a lot by neutrals.

If Kendrick Lamar keeps continuing the way he is going he would defn beat Kanye West atleast.
King Kunta!!!

He had potential, unfortunate that he didn't build on that release. Having said that most artists in main stream hip hop are a Lil Wayne rip off, he was the first of his kind whom spearheaded the baqwas era even though I don't think Wayne individually is as awful as he is made out to be.

Diddy is not a rapper. He has some good songs but we all know he didn't write any of them.

One of the best in last 5 years:

Best hip-hop song ever. Jay Rock killed his verse.

Kendrick is already top 5 imo. By the end of his career I think he could go down as the best ever.

Diddy is not a rapper. He has some good songs but we all know he didn't write any of them.

Yes he is. Eazy E didn't right his either, come to think of it there was one man who wrote them all for the NWA. Point is while it is tradition for rappers to write their own song it's not some rule in the bible, some are gifted in other ways e.g delivery, microphone command/charisma and you'll find rappers who are talented at writing but their delivery is weak

My favourites:
1) Kendrick Lamar - Paints a picture like no one else - I feel like I grew up in Compton by listening to his songs
2) Jay-Z - Consistent - still produces verses at 46 which someone like me in their early 20s can rock with and above all very shrewd and smart
3) Eminem - Only his old stuff though, I don't like his new stuff except a few songs here and there
3) Kanye West - Ended the gangsta rap era and brought in a new genre of rap - paved the way for guys like Drake
4) Biggie - Probably the most skilful of them all
5) Lil Wayne - When he wants to rap he is up there with the best - listen to Swag Surfin off his No Ceilings mixtape
6) Drake - His last album was trash but he is having an unbelievable run right now
7) J. Cole - Wasn't a fan initially but his last album was great
8) Nas - Lyrical genius - should have been a bigger artist
9) Tupac - The greatest hip-hop personality of all time, lyrically or technically not as great as Biggie, Nas or Jay-Z but his energy is unparalleled
10) 50 Cent - Probably had the greatest start ever, delivered so many hits in such a short span of time but faded away

Chance is creeping up there

Objectively ranking the greatest ever by lyricism, flow, wordplay:
1) Biggie
2) Nas
3) Jay-Z
4) Eminem
5) Kendrick
6) Andre 3000
7) Tupac
8) Ice Cube

Not including the likes of Rakim, KRS-One, LL Cool J who were from a different time and not including underground rappers either.

Like I said Pac was not the best technically but was among the most impactful due to his energy and personality. He was prophetic if you see what's happening in America right now. If he was still alive I reckon he'd be an A-list actor and activist who occasionally dropped music.

Biggie while one of the best and naturally gifted started this trend of party music constantly talking about just sex, drugs, and alcohol. Not that there's anything wrong but it became excessive and hip-hop became completely about that for a long while. Thankfully guys like Kendrick and J. Cole are going against the tide.

The way he started as a feature artist he should have stayed on that vibe imo, I remember when he first come on the scene feat on tracks with destinys child and also Bobby Valentino which were hits. Haven't heard of a track from him for years tbh lol avoid him at all costs

Any Bone thugs fans up in here? I would have them in my top 10 at the minimum another one of my personal favourites

Pac and Biggie would have thrived in the 2000's and left no doubt about their greatness had they lived longer, people form their opinions based on the material they put out but having died young never got to display their versatility but in a short amount of time ensured they'd be talked up amongst the greatest rappers of all time and that's no mean feat when you look at how short their prime years were. If we purely go by ability and accomplishments then there's no one to compete with Eminem

He has left the scene now, guys like $ sign and Drake have filled the void he left

Also does anyone know what happened to Lupe Fiasco is he still putting music out?

He has been working on some music for a while and has kept delaying his releases not sure why but they are scheduled for 2017

Speedster1 $ Sign looks like Jar Jar binks from Star Wars the Phantom Menace

Cant stand rap music and Eminem has a really annoying voice. JZ is just destructive, he destroyed Suit and tie.

Astro also writes his own songs, he did during the American X-factor as well unreal talent. His flow reminds me a little of Biggie. He's a throwback and that's why he won't get popular given the genre has evolved into something weird in the current era

Where is my man Kiri ? Eminem reminds me of Kiri. He used to Rangana Herath mixtape with Eminem's songs lol.

Supa Hot Fire, best rapper alive. All these pretenders are nothing.

But he's not a rapper.
