Encephalitis Death Toll Mounts To 129 In Bihar's Muzaffarpur

MUZAFFARPUR: With one more death at government-run Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH), the death toll of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) has mounted to 129 in Muzaffarpur district.
The death due to encephalitis occurred on the intervening night of Saturday-Sunday.

As per official data, the death toll in SKMCH has touched 109, while 20 children died at Kejriwal hospital in the Muzaffarpur district due to the vector-borne disease.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had announced an ex-gratia compensation of Rs. 4 lakh each to the families of the children, who died due to the AES.

He had also given directions to the health department, district administration and doctors to take necessary measures for the containment of the disease.

AES is a viral disease that causes flu-like symptoms such as high fever, vomiting and in extreme cases, brain dysfunction, seizure, and inflammation of heart and kidney.

Mera desh badal raha hai.....

Modi hai to mumkin hai....

Also - why is Modi responsible for this and not the state government?
Yeah, he is not responsible for anything! Not for Pulwama, where 40 hapless Indian soldiers were killed!

Not demonetization!

Not these ever increasing mob lynching activities!

What he is responsible for though is that fake Kedarnath trip in the middle of elections!

For all those selfies and jhappis he takes at drop of hat with world leaders!

For all those useless daily tweets!

Do you understand how a central government works and its division of duties with state governments? Also, do you know that there is separation of the department of defence and the PM's office in India?

lol, no I do not know a thing! lol at separation of defence of PMO! Bh@kts clutching at straws!

Who do you think has better credentials to lead India atm? Also - why is Modi responsible for this and not the state government?

The state govn is BJP ally, Sushil Modi is the deputy CM.
Modi talks on nonsense topic but took forever to even mention this that even my friends who were his biggest supporters tagged PMo on fb.

I wont blame Narendra Modi for this but i do blame him for not speaking on it, he kept tweeting nonsense but didn’t mention this.

How will his tweeting on this make the problem go away? This has to be solved at a state level. The problem is systemic and no amount of tweeting makes the issue better.

The state government has to step up to solve the problem. I would understand if you said Nitish Kumar is not taking this seriously.

This is the biggest tragedy that has happened, this is where surgical strike is needed proper healthcare, but alas Amit shah and Modi couldn't care less.

He has even managed to mourn the death of Rajasthan state BJP chief but not these hapless 129 babies!

And if he has any guts, can he pull up/dismiss Nitish Kumar for this? He can't because he'll do anything to retain power.

And btw what happened in Gorakhpur last year when 100s of babies died in Gorakhpur of the same disease, the fiefdom of his handpicked, Bisht? Did he take any action then?

It doesn't happen in a day - or even a month or year. Give it time.

First basic hygiene has to improve. Then, nutrition and food. Better access to sanitation and medicines. No amount of healthcare can solve these issues without the first two. Healthcare can only sustain or improve life.

Yeah, all they care about is winning elections and buy opposition lawmakers.

Then the PM should stop tweeting together , he is the PM , he is not going to speak on lynching which is fine , but this has happened in a state where BJP has presence and is in alliance and he needs to speak on as to wth are they doing from
Centre, are they providing funds or condolences or anything.

Perhaps you could relay this concern by tagging the PMO office's handle on twitter yourself? At least all those that agree with you will be able to retweet and add to your tweet. Nothing speaks like numbers. That would be a better solution than posting on pakpassion which would make no difference to the situation.

As i said my friends already did that on Fb , and mind you passionate MODI supporters like you..

And many Biharis have already done but to no response

Sadly no one will care unless the media balloons this for TRP. We only care when it damages our reputation in front of the whole world. No one cares about 100 people dying in a small rural village in India. We want big guns but not healthcare that prevents people from dying. We care more about 5 people killed by Pakistan or some random kashmiri than 100 people dying without proper healthcare.

Bit of an assumption to make without even knowing me?

True that, but its what you lead me to believe unless u r a hustler, let me guess
‘You are not a Modi supporter but right now there is no one better than him’

Yes. And that is a problem because?

Accountability. This is the same leader that mocked Ex Pm on being quiet, there is no data released by this govn, he has made a priest as head of a state and employment levels are at the lowest.

All of the above plus lynching, children dying etc and people don’t question, is the problem because there is ‘no one else’.

Now before you start on central govn state govn , this is a leader who campaigned aggressively in States against state leaders during elections, so jf he has time for all that he should time for the states esp where his govn is.

He did not make a priest as a head of state... people voted her in - the people found a terror suspect a better choice than a venal, corrupt sycophant of the Congress party. I am not in favor of Pragya as well - but it just shows how low the bar for politicians are in the country.

Employment levels are low across the world - but yes there is something that needs to be done here. Hopefully, this term will go better than the last.

I don't get your last sentence - because he lobbied for his party to win in the elections, he is responsible for running all the state govts?

Btw when we talk about accountability - not sure if you live in India Jaded - if you do live in India, when was the last time you held your local corporator/MLA responsible for your living conditions? Just posting on Facebook and venting on forums is not particularly useful.

Bhakth thinking.

India is on dangerous course.

Forgot about Pragya , was talking about Yogi, the CM Candidate wasn't disclosed at that time.

Employment level low across the world ,expected that.

After all this please do not say you are not a Modi supporter lol.

I haven't lived for a while, but when again I went this time i could see local situation the same as an 1 year ago, an i do but believe me My MLA is not constantly in news saying he would bring Ache Din, the changer and it doesnt pop up on social
Media for me BJP AND modi do. Also as useless the MLA is they don't go on talking about Yoga .. and do not have blind supporters for em either ..FYII

What changes were you expecting that did not happen? What are you doing to ensure that you are calling out your representative for accountability? You seem to be more worried about what someone tweets!

See who is his focus?

https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/pm-...attacks-congress-2059108?pfrom=home-topscroll

Same old Gandhis, who've ceased to matter for so many years now, no one wants to hear from them or about them. Bashing them day in and day out is the only thing matters to our PM, of course apart from capturing power in every nook and corner of India and visiting every possible corner of world.

So predictable, isn't it? And that he/she managed to paint Pragya in a better light than Digvijay says it all. And he still wants us to believe that he is not a bh@kt, lol...

Do you understand how a central government works and its division of duties with state governments? Also, do you know that there is separation of the department of defence and the PM's office in India?

Everything is related to governance. 100+ people died of virus, why wasn't it proactively contained?

Problem with people of the country is they have accepted mediocrity and some have taken it one step further and gone into worship mode of politicians

If someone raises valid criticisms of failure then they are labelled as Congress supporters by BJP and BJP supporters by congress. Both parties are making fool of gullible people for decades and yet people still keep falling for same tactics

So rather than have a discussion or counter with points you label/name-call? Very well.

Discussion about what?

You are justifying extremists, radicalized religious nationalist views. There are no two opinions about it. There is only one unless you are one.

AFTER deaths of so many innocent babies...

Still deserves credit bro.

India is a nation filled with horrible systems.

Mishaps are waitong to happen.

If a govt has ignored something, sure they deserve criticism.

But if they take action and rectify it, thet deserve praise.

I hate Yogi as much as you but here he did well.

Rubbish.

Just because I have an opinion does not mean it is open to labelling. And frankly, I am astounded as to how you can have this opinion about my thoughts/principles based on a few messages?

Don't be so shallow.

A discussion could be about any number of things around this topic. What kind of hygiene facilities did the children grow up in? What is the access to water - polluted water could cause encephalitis? All these civic actions are systemic things that need to be changed by the local govt (district/state). Do the local MLAs/Corporators cop any shaming - no. Do the parents ensure hygiene (basic standards) around their domiciles? No one cares about any of these things. However, it is convenient to project things in a particular way because people have agendas.

Just spouting an opinion (because it is popular here) does not make you right. Neither is your job as a citizen (or concerned party) finished with posting. Just because I offer a different thought process does not mean I can be straight-jacketed into a label.

you are entitled to your opinion.

Next time, read the comment within context.

I replied to your terror suspect comment.

If a supporter of ISIS were to say, I found ISIS leader better than other just because they wear cleaner clothes then most and I would still call them sympathizer and justifying terrorist and their beliefs.

Calling out a radicalized extremists religious nationalists isn't just popular opinion, everyone should do it.

It isn't that difficult to understand why radicalized extremists religious nationalists as leader are the main problem for Indian minorities and India itself.
