End of the line for Kamran Akmal?

If I ever grade you in a Data Science Class I'd probably debar your practicing license for quoting inaccurate statistics that may lead to a false progression.

You clearly filtered series by series averages against England for Pakistan and are only quoting K Akmal's average from the 2010 series. YOU FAILED TO MENTION THAT IN 2006 in the same amount of game i.e. 5 (for the series) KAMRAN AVERAGED.......WAIT FOR IT.......... !!!!!

4.66 with the highest score of 10 runs !!!!

Guys the link that he is quoting please click on the start date to filter in descending order and see for yourself. Kamran's name would appear twice. Once in 2010 (where he is averaging 40) and the other being in 2006 where he is averaging 4.66

Please choose a better candidate next time if you really wanna play this Statistics game again !!

What are you doing. Can you not use actual facts in a Kamran Akmal debate. We are trying to agree on how dynamic and explosive he is as a batsman, and you are ruining it with logic and thought.

Its quite baffling how someone with, his poor batting record (when opening or otherwise), his age and how lousy he is in the field continues to get selected over someone younger

Also as declared by Kami's biggest fan, Hawkeye, when presented with stats on Kami's record that "those are factually incorrect"

Perhaps this is the logic that Inzi the revolutionary also employed when selecting a certified bottler like Kami.

Well as Saj has mentioned, Inzi happens to be quite cozy with Kami so his perception and relationship extends beyond facts and statistics, and is enough for him to select him. Especially when he has a ready made excuse 'performed in domestic' ready to back it up.

Would rather stick with Shehzad who at least has age on his side. Kami has a pot belly and is inconsistent.

Wouldn't be surprised if he starts in the champions trophy though.

It wasn't so much Shehzad's poor performance in this series that put me off him returning to the team anytime soon, it was the selfish nature by which he batted that was more of concern.

Even Kamran, for his complete lack of ability at this level, showed more intent and maintained a decent strike rate despite also making a comeback.

...perhaps that is because he knows he will be selected regardless of his runs so feels less pressure.

Yes he needs to work on his strike rotation issue. It was his 1st series back. Let's see how he does 6 months under Arthur's coaching. He's earned his recall that's why I'm not so upset to see him in the line up.

Kami has always been aggressive batsmen, but knowing Inzi is in his corner also helps him to play with freedom maybe.

His explosions are only good for T20s. :kakmal

Should never play ODIs again. Disgraceful player.

I have given up on our selectors or anyone in Pakistan Cricket to oppose and weed out this TTF comeback cycle we have every year.

It would take a tremendous amount of political maneuvering, lobbying, selecting merit based candidates etc etc to actually keep them from playing in future and honestly speaking I can see Kamran, Shehzad, Hafeez all somehow making it to every major tournament in the next 4 years or so without fail.

Our system just reeks of curroption and given how cricket is politicized to the core in the country this particular problem will not be going away anytime soon.

These are the administrative blunders that hinder us to ever field an XI that is totally based on merit while when get a proper hiding from top teams all the officials and past players resort to the most easy escape router ever !!

'There ain't no talent left in the country.....and all that crap'

Inzi has been a huge disappointment.

However, a lot of the blame goes to Sharjeel as well as Latif; if they didn't do what they did, Kamran and Shehzad would not have been selected.

Replace him with Hussain Tallat. I don't think there is any other option you could go for. Fakhar isn't the answer. He is horrible against pace.

Perhaps the only positive in this dreadful squad has been the dropping of Kami.

I know we have said it before, and with a selector like Inzy anything is possible, but it really does seem to be end of the line for Kamran. He had a stellar couple of domestic tournaments and completely owned PSL to use as justification for his selection.

I don't think he is going to perform that well in domestic again, and with another international failure to remember, will this finally be the end for our Gilchrist?

If Inzi remains in charge, Kamran'll be back after CT. He is in his good book, which kept him in team for 3 extra years under Inzi & MoYo.

Very true.

Can you imagine, after our dismal showing in the Champions Trophy, where our top order of Azhar, Shehzad and Hafeez play on average 89% dot balls, Inzamam announces there is a need to play modern ODI cricket and recalls the dynamic opener we need to usher us into a new era of prosperity...

He'll explain that with lack of talent mantra.

Then, if anyone questions about Haris - he'll raise fitness issue. If Amin, he'll raise past performance, if Fawad - it's about power hitting.

Thankfully this TTF wasn't selected. Would still take him over Azhar which tells you how poor Inzis picks were.

Really? Why would you take Kami over Azhar?

Azhar core strengths as a batsmen are patience and occupying the crease which aren't a fit in LO formats.

Kami will at least try to take advantage of the powerplayers. But then again there is no guarantee he will come off.

Any given day.

Kamran is a very limited slogger - best expectation from him is probably 58 (48), worst 0 (1), in between 13 (7), 18 (19), 29 (23), 35 (38) - BUT, he won't ever give you 29 (48) - that too in Power Play. Imagine, on a 300 per wicket, chasing 288, one of your opener bats whole PP for 23 (38) & then gets out when the asking has just reached 7 .............

I will prefer Kamran over Azhar in ODIs. With Kamran, there is a very slight chance of a match-winning inning. With Azhar, there is zero.
