End of the line for Mohammad Amir and Shoaib Malik?

Imad Wasim on whether being excluded from Pakistan side bring out the best in Amir and Sharjeel, as they will want to impress with performances in PSL for KK?

"In a selfish way, I would say that this [Amir and Sharjeel being excluded from Pakistan side] was pretty useful for us; The fact is that when you are not in the Pakistan side, you always want to prove yourself to others and that is a good thing for us [KK]; So Amir and Sharjeel will both try and perform and that will benefit our team; Having said that, it's upto the individual to try and put in some solid performances or, he could feel down about it and not do anything; Both Amir and Sharjeel are strong characters, and I am sure they will try and prove themselves with solid performances; And we all know whenever they make those efforts, they can produce good performances"

Bumrah is winning important matches and takes wickets at important times. Amir is just not having impact in the games that matter, and with his fixing history really needs to perform in those ones. Javed Miandad became a legend for life by hitting Chetan Sharma for 6 in the last ball of the over in some tournament in the emirates. Amir just isn't winning games that matter any more.

If I take your example of Javed Miandad, who hit a second rate Indian bowler for six in a meaningless tournament in Sharjah than Amir is a legend for life for his performance in the Champions Trophy final. That's not why Miandad is a legend though. People may remember him best because of it but your logic is completely off-base.

And "games that matter" is a highly subjective term. ICC tournaments happen once in 2-4 years alot of cricket is played in between. Amir has played a total of 2 matches this year which are not enough to say whether he is in-form or out of form.

I'm sorry, what? An average of 21.4, an economy rate of 7.02 and a SR of 18.2 that matches that of Bumrah is not impressive? Shaheen, Amir and Wahab are Pakistan's best limited overs bowlers. They are world-class in both of the shorter formats and the only bowlers capable of winning us the World Cup.

and what has he done in t20s in the last year or two?

Also, when you play test cricket you play all tests, or you don't play at all. You don't get to pick and choose.

where did i say he would pick and choose. pak simply didn't need him in a two man quick attack which is why they didn't select him in uae, same reason why have ashwin and jadeja played nearly twice as many tests at home than away.

He played a grand total of 2 international matches this year. In 2019 he averaged 26, ER 7.8, SR: 20. The year before that he averaged 15.5, E.R 6.57, SR 14.1. Fairly decent stats, most would argue.

Didn't need him? He was completely ineffective in UAE. I still remember how badly he bowled against Sri Lanka back in 2017. I think he was averaging over 150 in that series and picked up one solitary wicket. And no its not the same with spinners and fast-bowlers. Because spinners are only effective in certain conditions whereas, fast-bowlers are expected to perform in all conditions. South Africa or Australia don't bench Rabada or Starc when they go to India.

Yeah because he's supposed to get a century here and there while he's in the XI

The post above is actually hilarious because apparently Amir is to be blamed for our inability to defend 105 against the West Indies - poor guy took 3 wickets defending that total, in just six overs.

Those were the only 3 wickets taken in that match, with the final score reading 108/3.

Malik doing his thing in T20s, 39* off 23 - could well help PZ to 170-180

Not yet for Amir. He can still be a quality limited over bowler who is excellent at being economical. Right now, the team is full of bowlers that are young, have pace but also pretty wild, inaccurate and expensive.

And as we saw in the WC, CT and even the T20 WC, he clearly steps up in big stages. I don't mind the team having him currently dropped at the moment to see what other youngsters can bring because they know what Amir can do. Who knows, maybe all this extra rest will help Amir recover some of his pace which would be huge for him.

If the WC was in Australia, I'd say definitively that Malik is done but it is in India and well, he can still destroy spinners. I think it's still possible he could make the squad at least since he always pays well in India and can hit spinners. Khushdil taking his spot and being a big spinner basher hurts hic chances though.

Exactly so how is that an impactful performance like Sir Hadi Rizvi has said?

What impact does his five wicket haul at the end of the innings have on the game? If he took some new ball wickets then sure you could say that the other bowlers let him down.

The impact was there. Of any Pakistani with bat or ball Amir had the most impact in that match. Sometimes even a lot of impact isn’t enough to win the game, because you’re let down by your teammates.

Just ask Sachin Tendulkar.

Even with the t20 world cup in india its going to be hard for malik to make the team as we know khushdil loves playing spin but he may make the squad
