What's new

England beat Pakistan by 3 wickets in the first Test at Manchester in a close encounter

Pitch looks flat, did so also during pak innings

I think it was flat in terms of movement and we threw it away. The only thing I can think of is that is was difficult to play shots, so hopefully does not start coming on to the bat easily now.

141 kph from Shaheen. Just needs to bowling the that corridor of uncertainty and results will come

2 spinners in the end will make sure we win.

Great tactics by Misbah.

Think our fast bowlers as a bare minimum need to hold if they don’t get wickets. So far Abbas has been very close beating the edge.

Lol all of a sudden it seems like England are sitting on 130-0 the way some posters are reacting lmao.

Shadab should come early on with a newer ball to get wickets. Newer ball might grip well for this googly.

Shaheen has been all over the place. Needs to be consistent with his length.

Abbas immaculate as usual.

Testing bowling from both the opening pacers.

Bring Yasir on for Shaheen. They seem comfortable playing against him. Need to try and stress Burns and Sibley. They are comfortable seeing off pace as this is what they do in country cricket.

Took 4 wickets and scored 33 runs as a tailender. Thoughts on yasir @ Junaids

Write it better way bro - highest scorer in second innings, best bowler in first innings. And, he’ll be MoM if PAK wins it.

Azhar Ali makes another cange - the fielder at mid-wicket moves across to a straight short mid-off position, right at the face of the batsman

Man nothing much happening, these starting overs have been rather dull, maybe it's the silence before the storm.

I didn’t see much of PAK innings yesterday- is this really a track to be <140/8? Easy paced, not much uneven bounce, no seem movement at all and I don’t think Bess was tiring miles here. If Abbas fails to move it off the track with new ball in morning session, have to say PAK batted poor. Still might get away with it, but on bowling shoulders, not from batting.

We know Pakistan batted poorly:

Shan: unlucky
Abid: stupidity
Azhar: age old issue
Babar: casual
Asad: stupidity (run out)
Rizwan: OK ball (clipping bails LBW)
Shadab: decent ball (no jaffa)
Yasir: slogging (had to kind of)
Shaheen: good ball by stokes
Naseem: slogging (had to)

MMHS you are spot on, it's was just Pak being Pak in 3rd innings, Atleast 6 out of 10 wickets were avoidable, pure gifts or bad luck. So 200 was absolute min Pak should have scored on this track.

Looks like this is going to be a grinding performance from England.

Yup. But that’s the only way, don’t think it is even paced, so not that easy to hit flowing drives. Bounce is not thaaaat uneven though.

Don't understand why a change has not been made. Burns and Sibley looked settled against Shaheen and Abbas.

Try Shadab for a couple of overs and plan for googlies.

We need a scientific study conducted about the effects that OIIIIIII HAYE HAYE HAYE HAYE HAYE has on a batsman’s psyche.

:))) :)))

Players need to be aware there are no crowd now, meaning stump mic is gonna feed.a lot to the live stream :))

Our batsmen felt they already had a good lead on the board and were very casual in approach. Definitely not a 140-8 track.. need to be more disciplined

The wicket is getting drier and increasingly difficult to score on. But surely not as bad as pak have made it look in third innings. Nothing much happening now off the wicket so expect reverse and spin to cause most of the damage..
Pak dont have enough experience otherwise 277 in fourth i wouldn't even be watching this match expecting an easy win for Pak.
Yasir has to inflict most of the damage

The game will look a lot different once Yasir or Shadab come into the attack. England looks settled against the pacers so far

Yup, most teams would take 277 on this pitch with a similar attack. Still ENG will be dogged due to their first inning stuff.

I think Wasim said earlier that the pitch will get better after lunch. We need to patient and not leak many runs until then.

Afridis bowling lacked the aggression needed on a slightly uneven surface. England looking a little too comfortable.

No wickets but Pak hasnt given much runs against the new ball which will mean quite a few to defend when reverse swing and leg spin comes in.

I did say its all depending on spin yet root n stokes etc r v good players of spin...pitch is a 4 day flat one..not one has stayed low misbehaved...so how can we blame the bowlers and nevr the batters
