England's cricketers are considering wearing a new permanent logo on their shirts as part of a desire to improve diversity in the sport.

It is one of the measures that has been discussed by a senior group including Test captain Joe Root and his white-ball counterpart Eoin Morgan.

England's Test shirts had Black Lives Matter badges for the series with West Indies in the summer and the players vowed to support the movement in the longer term. Sportsmail understands a logo with a broader message has since been proposed, making clear that cricket is a game for all races, genders and faiths.

With the launch of an inclusion and diversity strategy in July, ECB chief executive Tom Harrison confessed that BLM had made English cricket face some uncomfortable truths — including the lack of non-white faces on the governing body's board.

Meanwhile, England will not compromise on their Test selection for the trip to Sri Lanka early next year, raising fears at the ECB that the squad they send for a simultaneous T20 series in Pakistan will feel like a C-team.

Obstacles must be overcome before the trips can take place but Sportsmail understands that one issue facing the ECB is how to repay Pakistan's decision to tour the UK while fulfilling the 'elite performance' aspect of the board's remit and sending the strongest team possible.

Morgan wants to field his best side regularly so players get used to their roles before the T20 World Cup in India next year. Some of England's T20 stars — including Dawid Malan, Tom Banton and Tom Curran — have agreed to play in Australia's Big Bash, clashing with the proposed Pakistan trip in January.

The situation is complicated by the fact that because of coronavirus, England need a bigger squad than usual in Sri Lanka for the rescheduled two-Test series — and that risks taking players away from the trip to Pakistan.

Why doesn’t PCB send our own B team to play other countries like this? So while the Test series with South Africa is happening, send some white ball cricketers to play Sri Lanka or something.

The question is why would you like Pakistan to lose? It does not make sense.
You may like to see good contests as neutral fans so that cricket wins and you enjoy the game as die hard cricket fan.

Let England send who they want, they haven't visited in so many years and they're still coming during a pandemic.

England C will be enough of a match up against the Pakistan first XI anyway.

If Morgan, Roy, Bairstow, Ali, Rashid, Jordan, Billings are available than that a pretty solid core of their T20 team. Not sure if Bairstow is going to be selected for test tour as of now and also not sure if Moen Ali is playing test cricket as of now.

So

Roy
Bairstow (WK)
Livingstone
Morgan (C)
Billings
Lewis Gregory
Moen Ali
Willey
Rashid
Jordan
Saqib Mehmood

Bench:

Ben Dukett
Joe Denly
Pat Brown
Mark Parkinson
Liam Plunkett

So something like that. Eng have enough bench strength to form a pretty solid team which is far from the C team.

lol you guys overrate england so much. pakistan will belt their A team let alone C team. Remember who won in the WC in england vs the fake champions? in odi i mean.

in t20 i dont know lol.

There's BBL as well.

There's BBL as well.

Tom Banton, Tom Curran and Dawid Malan are the only players from Eng T20 squad which are selected for Big Bash based upon the BBL squads and that is why I havent included them.

To be honest even an England C is a decent side that could defeat this Pakistani team. The English got some fine talent coming up.

So pakistan sends its best eleven at the height of the pandemic to get england out of potentially a financial disaster

And pakistan gets a C team in return as a thankyou?

It does not matter who is coming as long as it includes some of England's current squad players. The aim is to settle nerves of bigger international team to visit Pakistan without fear, and pave way for future tours by England and others like NZ and Aus.

You can do that right now with Australia also. A squad of second/3rd string Aussies would be ready to tour Pakistan if they are officially representing the first team

Great opportunity for Pak to finally win an ODI series against a top side.

Last time Pak lost t20 home series 0-3 against inexperienced Lanka.
Even England C team performs better than Lanka

This mini tour consists of 3 T20 internationals but, yes one can read and research after an attempt at a banter first. :uakmal

Yeah just like their main side beat us at home a couple of months ago :))

There is a reason England has a good record against us in T20's.

Big difference between a Sri Lanka and an England. It's a bigger issue if a team like Lanka or Bangla sends their B or C team.

This is not cool. Pakistan visited England during the peak of the pandemic. In return these players shouldn’t chose BBL over Pakistan tour.

Had a feeling this would happen. People are bothered getting a return favour from England, I don't care about that. I care about us improving. We won't learn too much from playing an under strength English team. I hope England send their strongest team possible so we can test how good some of these new guys are . But with a lot of England players being in the IPL bubble, a potential tour of India, and IPL in April I doubt England will send a strong team.

Need to take baby steps, let them come here first and successfully go a through a tour.

The team will be similar to the one we faced in the T20IS about 2 months ago. Test specialists will miss out but the core of the T20I team should still be there. Malan, Bairstow, Morgan, Roy, Moeen, Jordan, Rashid.

And a second string team is to be expected anyways since this is a tour that sort of came out of nowhere; it wasn't originally in the FTP.

Malan is going to the BBL. .

Moeen will surely play the Tests in Sri Lanka or atleast be in the squad.

Roy and Livingstone also have BBL contracts and Bairstow and Denly look set to be picked up as well. Parkinson will probably be with the test squad in SL and knowing the selectors one of Rashid or Moeen will also ridiculously get picked.

Correct.

The records and the world will hear that an England side visited Pakistan in 2021.

International duty will prevail over BBL. Malan can't even make the excuse of not coming to Pakistan as he has already done so in the past.Moeen is seriously out of contention. England will likely go with a spin attack of Leach, Bess and Parkinson.

See. Had to go back 8 years. That long!. :))

Koi baat nhi Malik and Hafeez will smash Saqib and Gregory again and will do it finally.

If Indians can shoehorn 1971 into every argument with a Pakistani, why can't we go back 8 years?

Normally it would but given this will probably be a 4-5 day tour organised at the last minute anyone who picks up a BBL contract will probably be allowed to stay there given the complex travel and quarantine arrangements.

They'll almost certainly take 4 spinners to Sri Lanka due to the situation combined with Parkinson's fitness issues and Leach's health issues. From all the talk I would not be surprised at all for at least one of those to be Moeen or Rashid.

Due to coronavirus the size of the touring squads have also been increased. So those fringe players like Ali, Rashid, Bairstow etc. would probably travel to Sri Lanka.

Yes Roy was signed just a day or so ago and Livingstone as well last week. Its a pretty long league as well this time around with two months in total.

Poke of an article more than anything else.

The excitement will be the same whether or not some members of the England team turn up or not. And the focus should be on winning.

Strength of the team does n't matter for now. The headline and take away for me from this series would be an english side touring pakistan, if that tour happens, will show that ECB has shown satisfaction over security in pakistan.. I think security of, be it the A team or a C team will still be a top priority for ECB. If that happens than the 2022 english tour to pak will be almost 90% confirmed.
