What's new

England v India | Match 38, World Cup | Edgbaston | 30th June, 2019 | Match Thread

I reckon they are 20 short. But India doesn’t have Dhawan, can Pant help Pak today?

stokes is leagues above pandya in batting . But it took 6 years for him to get this consistency.
Pandya may get there but it will take some time.

he's toomuch of a hit and miss....and he has a habit of showboating...i mean three four incredible shots for 4-6 and he brings out the spectacular and fails....

This game was over since the toss and and when Roy played his first drive he is a different beast just changes his team all together

Bumrah is probably one of the greatest death over bowlers the game ever seen. Just imagine what he would've done with a 40over old ball!

Score is par or slightly above, so India will need to produce a world-class chase to win this one.

May be 35 too many. But must appreciate Indian bowlers today - pulled a possible 400 to this level.

Poms need to bowl & field poor here not to win this one.

It’s a chasable total , but our batting dosent give much confidence chasing under pressure ..just that this is not a pressure game they may still pull it off . Eng favs 65-35

Agreed about show boating. But his role in the team is try to hit 4 and 6 almost every ball. No player will be consistent if they play at 7 in ODI's. He should improve his technique and try to bat at 6.

I don't think there is even a single wicket taker. No serious threat. Anyone can turn up on their day, it will be a fight but in the end I still think it's in India favor 55-45.

Woakes, Wood, Plunket are not all HALWA bowlers. Neither are stokes and archer.

Also the scoreboard pressure .

I must say it has been a good comeback by India in the end. England are 50 runs short, I reckon.

Some of the other world class attacks playing this world cup might have gone for scores like 444 or thereabouts on this pitch. So maybe it's not a bad effort after all :mv

Its a flat road and they have to bowl really well to win this.

Thank you for your kind words.

You too are an amazing person <3.

On a side note I’m going to Bangalore next February for a charity deed with a group of my college fellows.

Any chance to come to down under to Melbourne-thats where i live..?....I hope you go back home from bangalore with heavy bags, lots of happy memories and hopefully a heavy wallet as well....any ways , have a safe happy journey..

India wud have bewn happy with anything upto 310. Would require one batsmen to bat through out, also india need to get a quick start to get themselves ahead so the RRR doesnt increase to much later on. India 200- 2 At 30 overs and its indias game

Some body should tell them losing today means they have very good chance of facing aus in semis

If India loses today, it is most unlikely they will face Aus in the semis. Aus will end #1 and India most like #2 or #3.

Time to go turbo today and do the number on Eng....for our pak bros...pitch is flat...they can do this....

Will find out how good the pitch is wen india bats. England might take pace of the bowl and bowl slower ball bouncers to limit the scoring.

The customary :))) :))) :))) :))) :)))

Still chase is possible if top 3 click.

What happ to spinners? These were the pitches Ash and Jaddu bowled in 2017.

If our wristies cant help us out on these pitches, then whats the use?

On a turner, finger slinners are usually more successful.

Kumar Dharmasena 100 th match. Didnt know he was part of 1996 WC winning team.

I am so happy India are getting the bad day away before the knockout stage. Same thing happened to India in WC15 and CT17. Better to get such bad days in league game. I am getting the feel that India is gonna win this WC.

This game should also make India rethink if they want both Yadav and Chahal in the team. In future games, I would drop one of them for Bhuvi.

Ash and Jaddu got hit by a much inferior line up. This England team is too good. We should be happy they didn't make 400 on this pitch.

Ash and jaddu couldn't pick wickets to save their life that's why they were dropped not because they couldn't stop runs.

Safe to say that England is winning this one quite comfortably and it’s probably for the better. Don’t want to see all that nonsense of India helping us out and father/son ** on social media post the match. I’d rather pin my hopes on NZ rather than India to get us through to SF.

I hope Rishabh and Hardik do a stokes tonight....the 75 off 35.....what yuvi used to do for us...not so long back

am indian...and cringe sick of that fathers day ** as well....

Why, because they went for runs on a small ground on an absolute flat track? What happens if bhuvi went for runs here too, we bring in ashwin back?

All India has to do is to not lose wickets in the first 15 overs.Wicket is flat but chasing 338 is very tough.
Kohli hasn't scored a ton yet in this WC,this is the perfect time do it.

This match will expose a few batsmen in this lineup and show why India can't win the World Cup with such mediocre batting . :inti

That was sensational assault on the bowlers by the openers. Jason Roy is fearless. I can see India getting close with a Kohli special but ultimately losing by a couple of dozen runs.

They were rightfully dropped. They bowled like cowards.

But they played in same pitches and got pasted.

By the time Kulcha came on the scene, the pitches changed.

SA pitches turned.
Indian pitches turned.
Eng pitches in that odi series wasnt hopeless

The way Ash and Jaddu were mocked and talked about as if they were serial tournament losers were unfair. Especially when they did well in 2013 and 2015 tourneys.

Had they bowled on these WC pitches, they would have done exceedingly well. Ladoo like pitches.

Chahal has been amazing this WC but kuldeep has been disappointing.

The problem with jaddu and Ashwin, they got smashed every where. BTW what is the average and Ashwin in ODI?

can someone explain me how you can swap in your best fielder for an injured player? This rule like many other Cricket rules makes no sense.

They were up against the likes of Roy, Bairstow and Stokes while Ashwin and jaddu was manhandled by Fakhar and Hafiz of all people. Don't worry your fav Ashwin is never coming back in odi.
